Choir Performances

Chapel Choir sang in the magnificent setting of the gothic Lincoln Cathedral with stirring performances of Psalm, settings of the Magnificat, and Nunc Dmittis by Stainer and ‘Achieved is the Glorious Work’ from Haydn’s Creation. The Chamber Choir sang at St Swithun’s church in Worcester where they performed a flowing programme of English music from the Tudors through the Stuarts to the Georgian Age. The String Ensemble accompanied Mr Kingston in a splendid performance of a Handel organ concerto. The String Quintet played a movement by Onslow. The evening was rounded off by stirring, majestic and sublime anthems by SS Wesley, Parry and Elgar.

Fashion Shows

IB students organised a Charity Fashion Show themed on “The Princess and the Pauper” and raised £240 in aid of Operation Smile as part of their Creativity, Action and Service project. The annual fashion show by textiles students was once more a huge success with students proudly showing off their creations on the catwalk.

BFAME Success

Pupils from Bromsgrove School raked in several awards at the annual Birmingham Festival of Acting and Musical Entertainment (BFAME). Bromsgrove School was the only school involved in the Festival, with all other entries coming from theatre groups. George Toft’s performance in Dr Horrible was a great source of entertainment for the crowd. Todd Cross-Watson received a certificate of merit while Niall Hegarty took home the award for Outstanding Male Performance, awarded for his roles in Northern Lights. Star singer Fran Kingston was awarded the trophy for U19 Individual singing for her performance of ‘On My Own’ from Les Misérables. Northern Lights, this year’s Year 9 play, was praised to the rafters by judges, leading to a win for

Outstanding Achievement in Youth Drama. Staff and judges praised the professionalism, optimism and hard work of all the pupils involved.

Art trip to Prague

Our artists thoroughly enjoyed Prague, one of Europe’s greatest cities. They visited the Veletrzni Palace for the Museum of Modern Art and viewed a range of Czech and International Art. At the DOX gallery they were inspired by an exhibition of Martin Parr’s work, along with a massive shoe sculpture of the crucifixion, a huge rotating red skull and a coach with a huge metal cylinder pierced through it. They were also impressed by the Mucha and Dali Museum.
