Coaching Staff Mike Idland HEAD COACH

Mike Idland is one of The College at Brockport’s most recent athletic department coaching hires and is replacing 28-year veteran head coach Joan Schockow. Idland most recently was the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where in 2015, his program won its second consecutive regular season conference championship. That came on the back of the 2014 season, during which he led the team to a program best 15-5 record and its first ever regular season championship. He also serves as a senior staff member and the goalkeeping director for the Region I Girl’s Olympic Development Program. He has a United State Soccer Federation “A” coaching license. No stranger to the SUNY system, Idland graduated from SUNY Cortland and got his Master of Arts in English from the University at Buffalo. Prior to coaching at Pitt-Brad he was the interim head coach at Canisius College and served as an assist coach with the Buffalo State Bengals from 2003-07. With Idland taking over, the program will carry on many of the values and traditions instilled under Coach Schockow, while striving towards even higher levels of performance on the field.

Since 1983 the Golden Eagles have captured two conference titles and has advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships a number of years. For the last 27 years the team had been under the direction of head coach Jean Schockow posting a 7-6-4 overall record last season with the team’s final loss coming in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs to SUNY Plattsburgh. Under the direction of new head coach Mike Idland, with a strong emphasis on player recruiting and development, the team will look to enter a new era of even more success that it had saw under Schockow.

Residence Halls Living on campus at Brockport means more than just a place to sleep. The college residential experience serves as the foundation for developing friendships that last a lifetime. Our vibrant and safe living-learning environment helps students become successful members of our campus community. A resident director (RD) and a staff resident assistant (RA) provide leadership for each residence hall community. RDs and RAs are excellent sources of information and will help students make decisions, support students in developing responsibility and concern for others, and assist in acquiring a plan for academic success.
