Learn lifesaving principles embodied in four components of water rescue education – judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Training includes tows and carries, as well as defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. LSS National Lifeguard
NLS is the only nationally recognized lifeguard certification program. Certification is valid in all provinces and is recognized as the legal certification for lifeguarding throughout the country. Your training will consist of core material plus content specific to the working pool environment. LSS Swim for Life Instructor & Bronze Family Instructor
Learn to teach and evaluate basic swim strokes and related skills for all levels of the Lifesaving Society Swim Program: Parent & Tot, Preschool, Swimmer, and Adult Swimmer. The Lifesaving Instructor Course prepares you to teach the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze medal awards, and Emergency First Aid. LSS Assistant Instructor
Through classroom learning and in-water practice, you will learn how to help certified instructors with swimming and lifesaving classes. You will be introduced to key principles of learning and teaching and will master basic progressions. Roles and responsibilities of instructors and their assistants are emphasized. You will be required to complete 20 hours of apprentice teaching. Prerequisite: 14 years of age by the end of the course, and Bronze Cross (or higher) certification.
