Making it official Two more Heritage High School athletes have recently signed letters of intent. Mark Winthrop, a two-year varsity letterman named to this year’s All-BVAL First Team, will play basketball for Cul-

ver Stockton College in Canton. Mo. He is an NCS Scholar Athlete with a 3.67 GPA during the season. In addition, softball player Katee Willey will attend Idaho State.

After losing three starters from last year’s team, the Ajax United East Bay 97Girls competitive soccer team (formerly the Delta Xplosion) has started the new season with an impressive 5-0-1 record. After its remarkable 54-13-7 season last year – which included six tournament championships – Ajax United East Bay 97G claimed its first championship of the year at the Manteca International Spring Invitationals. It included a 6-1 victory against United Academy of Nevada, a 50 win over the hosting Manteca Rangers

and a 4-0 shutout of the Nevada Patriots of Reno. In the championship game against PAFC Synergy, the East Bay girls finally put a goal away with a minute left in the game to win the championship 1-0. The Ajax United East Bay 97Girls comprise players from Brentwood, Antioch and Oakley.
