design philosophy Our lives are composed of the many unique memories and experiences that sculpt our character and frame our outlook on the world... As we embark on new journeys, embrace new passions, expand our families, change careers, travel and grow, we add inspired new layers to our lives. With each layer, our style choices evolve. Regardless of whether your fashion style is influenced by the runways in Paris or the duties of parenting, a peek inside your closet offers a glimpse into the real you. It’s second nature for us to choose clothing that reflects these layers… so why not adopt this same approach with your home décor? All of the products, designs and ideas I create are born from this philosophy….I encourage you to embrace your own personal style, throw out the rules of decorating, and cultivate your interior aesthetic on the foundation of those irreplaceable memories, experiences and layers. Explore and be inspired!

meet annette Annette Tatum, entrepreneur, interior designer and author of The Well-Dressed Home, has created a signature product line for home, child and nursery that seamlessly links the worlds of fashion and interior design. “Form follows fashion,” says the California native and mother of four, as she encourages even the most tentative among us to roll up our sleeves and dive into the world of home decorating… as long as we take a careful look at the fabric and pattern on those sleeves before we get started. What reveals personal style more than our fashion choices? Whether your closet is full of earth-toned cashmere sweaters, eclectic bohemian prints, or crisp Oxford shirts, wardrobe style can translate into home style. Why? What you wear – the colors, the textures, the designs – is a direct reflection of your personal style. Those instinctive preferences can artfully inspire home décor. After receiving her degree in design from UCLA, Annette began designing apparel that reflected both comfortable and stylish trends. Inspired by vintage textiles and classic designs, Annette brought her designs into the realm of home décor with the launch of her bedding lines, House by Annette Tatum. The success of the House line inspired a baby and juvenile bedding and décor line, Little House by Annette Tatum. Annette’s collections are currently sold in boutiques worldwide. Her retail store design studio, the Workroom, in Santa Monica, CA, serves as a creative Mecca for her clients to design a room, or even an entire home.

Established in 1999, House was born out of Annette’s love of textiles and her background as a product designer. What started out as a small apparel company has blossomed into home décor and much more. Color and print have always been a passion of Annette’s, which she has combined with the ease of the California lifestyle to define House. In the beginning, Annette sought to create easy, comfortable and relaxed apparel and bedding collection. Her basic concept has never changed...do what you love, try not to define your style with one look and embrace your own creativity. What followed is the House brand, under the umbrella of Annette Tatum companies, which today holds a vibrant and far-reaching library of textile prints and products.

“If you ever wonder what makes a room unique, the answer is found in those who live there.

From newborn through childhood, the color palette for little house stretches beyond the nursery and offers whimsical library of prints to mix and match for inspiring one-of-a-kind rooms... Little House by Annette Tatum was born a decade ago, when Annette embarked on an adventure to create lifestyle driven baby bedding, room décor and baby accessories for contemporary mothers. These modern designs, timeless florals, and bohemian motifs will bring joy and vibrancy to your child’s life. I’ve always felt that color is one of the most important aspects of a nursery or child’s room. All our collections are wrapped in luscious palettes of soft pastels, whimsical popsicle colors, and classic blue and greens too. Best of all, the collections are designed for you to mix and match patterns to create your own personal style for your nursery and child’s room.
