Engelsk The Party Red - Rødt - want to see an end to the underpayment and discrimination of workers with a non-Norwegian background. Everyone who works in Norway must earn a tariff wage. We defend religious freedom and aim to abolish the state church. Schools and kindergartens should not have to adhere to a curriculum based on a Christian platform. Rødt want free kindergarten for all children. Kindergartens and schools must be staffed adequately with qualified educators who can teach children to speak and write Norwegian. Many schools in Groruddalen and the eastern districts of Oslo are understaffed. We support children’s right to learn their mother tongue in school. Rødt believe that care for the elderly should be provided in accordance with their beliefs and traditions, also for those with a non-Norwegian background. We demand that Oslo City Council put the needs of the people first. The Council must stop wasting hundreds of millions on consultants and unnecessary projects. The inflated salaries of top politicians and bureaucrats must be cut. Both the present rightwing government and the previous red/green coalition government have supported US warmongering. They have sent Norwegian troops to war in former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Only Rødt consistently say NO to sending Norwegian troops to fight wars abroad. Rødt support the right of peoples and movements to defend themselves against imperialism, oppression and terror. The people of a country have the right to self-determination. Rødt want to abolish capitalism. A socialist society will benefit ordinary people, but an end to capitalism is also needed to stop the destruction of our environment. A socialist society will respect nature's limits. People must have equal rights, regardless of language, religion, cultural background or sexual orientation. Rødt support the struggle for women's liberation - in Norway and in the rest of the world. Vote for Rødt in the upcoming council elections!
