the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. e was sentenced by the Honorable Gladys Kessler. Upon completion of his prison term, Hanlon will be placed on 10 years of supervised release. According to the government’s evidence, on April 25, 2013, a member of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, a detective from the Alexandria Police Department, was contacted by the parent of an under-aged female who was concerned that the child had been engaged in illicit text message conversations with Hanlon and others. The task force member, in an undercover capacity, began communicating with Hanlon, who believed the officer was the child. Over the next few days, Hanlon engaged in text messaging with the undercover officer. During this period of time, Hanlon arranged with the undercover officer to meet for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts with the child. On April 25, 2013, Hanlon traveled from Virginia to a pre-arranged meeting place in Washington, D.C. When he arrived, he was arrested. Subsequent to his arrest, law enforcement searched Hanlon’s computer and cell phone. Pursuant to that search, law enforcement found evidence that Hanlon had been communicating via text message and e-mail with multiple young girls. Specifically, law enforcement recovered evidence that Hanlon received explicit videos from a female child from Missouri and from a 15-year-old from Virginia. The death of Nelson Mandela provides another occasion for reflection on the remarkable impact of what has been called “historical engineering”: reshaping the facts of history to serve the needs of power. When Mandela at last obtained his freedom, he declared that “During all my years in prison, Cuba was an inspiration and Fidel Castro a tower of strength. . [Cuban victories] destroyed the myth of the invincibility of the white oppressor [and] inspired the fighting masses of South Africa . a turning point for the liberation of our continent - and of my people - from the scourge of apartheid. . What other country can point to a record of greater selflessness than Cuba has displayed in its relations to Africa?” Today the names of Cubans who died defending Angola from U.S.-backed South African aggression, defying American demands that they leave the country, are inscribed on the “Wall of Names” in Pretoria’s Freedom Park. And the thousands of Cuban aid workers who sustained Angola, largely at Cuban expense, are also not forgotten. The U.S.-approved version is quite different. From the first days after South Africa agreed to withdraw from illegally occupied Namibia in 1988, paving the way for the end of apartheid, the outcome was hailed by The Wall Street Journal as a “splendid achievement” of American diplomacy, “one of the most significant foreign policy achievements of the Reagan administration.” DEA raising house New disclosures now allow us to see online the DEA training manuals with which Drug Enforcement Administration agents are taught to coach local police departments across the country how to lie about their chains of evidence and sources, how to willfully violate the law and cover their tracks in thousands or tens of thousands of cases every year in order to fill the cells of the US prison state with drug defendants. This is not hype. This is not exaggeration. It’s the literal truth. 14 african countries are obliged by France, through a colonial pact, to put 85% of their foreign reserve into France central bank under French minister of Finance control. Until now, 2014, Togo and about 13 other african countries still have to pay colonial debt to France. African leaders who refuse are killed or victim of coup. Those who obey are supported and rewarded by France with lavish lifestyle while their people

endure extreme poverty, and desperation. It’s such an evil system even denounced by the European Union, but France is not ready to move from that colonial system which puts about 500 billions dollars from Africa to its treasury year in year out. We often accuse African leaders of corruption and serving western nations interests instead, but there is a clear explanation for that behavior. They behave so because they are afraid the be killed or victim of a coup. They want a powerful nation to back them in case of aggression or trouble. But, contrary to a friendly nation protection, the western protection is often offered in exchange of these leaders renouncing to serve their own people or nations’ interests. My name is Rev. Oliver Peters, a native of Northern Ireland in Great Britain, I have diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer that was discovered very late due to my laxity in caring for my health. It has defiled all form of medicine and right now, I have only about a few months to live according to medical experts. I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone not even myself but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focus on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that I know my time is near, I have willed and given most of my properties and assets to my immediate and extended family members and as well as a few close friends. I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in Brazil, Tajikistan, London and Ireland. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this my self any more. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and donate the money, which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria; they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have left for them. The last of my money which is the huge cash deposit that I have with a financial institute abroad .I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatched it to char-

ity organizations. I am writing this from my laptop computer in my sick bed where I wait for my time to come. I pray that God uses you to support me kindly contact me via email. Looking forward to your hearing from you. Rev. Oliver Peters. England, United Kingdom. United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III announces the return by a grand jury of an indictment charging Jonathan Newhall (28, Brandon) with transportation and receipt of child pornography. If convicted, Newhall faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and up to a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each count. According to the indictment, between May 2013 and January 2014, Newhall transported and received child pornography over the Internet. On January 10, 2014, a federal search warrant was executed at Newhall’s residence.

Numerous images and videos of child pornography were found in his e-mail account, on his iPhone, and on his computer. An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty. This case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation, Hillsborough County Sheriff ’s Office, and the Tampa Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer L. Peresie. An Indiana, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced in federal court to 60 months in prison, to be followed by 12 years of supervised release, on his conviction of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today. United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Christopher Murdock, 27, of South 5th Street, Indiana, Pennsylvania. According to information presented to the court, on or about November 17, 2012, Murdock possessed visual depictions, namely, videos and images in computer graphics files, the production of which involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Murdock. A major volcanic eruption in East Java has killed 2 and prompted the Indonesian authorities to order about 200,000 residents to evacuate. The two deaths occurred following a roof collapse near the Volcano. Mount Kelud erupted twice in the space of about 40 minutes late Thursday night. The evacuation orders were issued to people living within a 10-kilometer radius of the crater. Air Traffic Restrictions The massive eruptions sent ash raining down over a wide area. Authorities have shut down airports in Surabaya, the capital of East Java Province, and Yogyakarta in Central Java, close to the Borobudur temple ru-

ins registered as a World Heritage Site. The chart to the left is from Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre suggesting ash spreading across much of Java to a height of 55,000ft. This could cause serious disruption to air travel in the region. The Volcano last erupted in 2007. Volcano eruptions in Indonesia are not uncommon. Being situated on the ring of fire it has several active volcanoes. Earlier this month 17 were killed near Mt. Sinabung following a massive eruption. Good day to you. Welcome to Autonomous University In the 1990s we were promised a knowledge society. Both the sciences and the humanities would undergo tremendous expansion, becoming the principal activities of a majority of citizens. Computers and networked communications would allow us to share the multiple fruits of unlimited exploration and experimentation. Bureaucracy would be eliminated, multiplicity would triumph over standardization, human potentials would be fulfilled and the most fundamental problems -- poverty, racism, war, ecological imbalances -- would be resolved through international cooperation in the realm of ideas. The preeminence of money would finally fade away. At long last, the dreams of enlightenment would be realized. My name is Sarah Jo Pender. I have been held under the wide thumb of prison administrators for five years in solitary confinement at the Indiana Women?s

Prison. My official punishment for escaping ended four years ago, but I am still here and there is nothing I can do to get myself out. Generally, women in segregation are held between two weeks and six months, though multiple offenses can extend sentences to years of punishment. The isolation unit is comprised of twenty-five single cells along one hall separated from general population. My cell is 7? x 10? of painted concrete, white and chipping, with a barred, sealed window at the rear and a steel door with a small observation window at the front. A slab of concrete and thin mattress makes my bed. A stainless steel sink and toilet encrusted with years of use sits three feet from my head when I sleep. Food is never hot and is served on plastic trays through a hatch in the door. Sometimes, it is tolerable only if I don?t chew it first. Unpalatable globs of flour that was once upon a time pasta is drenched in a tomato base and served sixteen different ways mixed with mechanically separated chicken bits and soy pellets marked for animal feed. However, the bread is always edible and I can buy a jar of peanut butter if I want. What a luxury. Here, it is cold. Artificial ventilation blows directly onto my bed so that no amount of repositioning brings relief from the chill. My bed must be made by 7 a.m. each day, so that I cannot access my full bed linens during the day when it is the coldest. The captain threatens to strip our cells of belongings, including all bedding if we are caught covering ourselves with the sheets during the day. I am wearing three pairs of socks right now, and my toes are purple and stinging cold. I am confined to my cell 22 hours each day, and the other 2 hours am handcuffed and escorted 25 feet down the hallway to another locked room for ?recreation and exercise,? though the space is only twice the size of my cell. In the largest room, I can take nine steps before I must turn around again and again. But there is a television that I can watch public broadcasting and lots of books. Books keep us sane. Since books are a main source of time management and entertainment, the prison uses public broadcasting and lots of books. Books keep us sane. Since books are a main source of time management and entertainment, the prison uses them as a method of punishment. Women on disciplinary status are only allowed one non-religious book and one religious book at a time. I am allowed to possess up to five books. If we are caught with too many books during a room search, we are subject to further discipline. Six days a week, my hands are restrained through the door hatch and an officer escorts me into a shower room. Four stalls line one wall; each stall is enclosed by three concrete walls and a steel mesh door that shuts us in and gets locked. I have fifteen minutes to shower with an army of black bugs on the walls. Black mold peppers the baseboards and thick scales of scum cling to ripped shower curtains. Then I am recuffed and escorted back to my perpetually cold cell. As a kid, I slept with my bedroom door cracked for a sliver of the hall light to visually orient me when my bladder woke me up at night. Now, my room is constantly lit even at 2 a.m. I can push a button to dim the fluorescent bulbs, but I can never, ever sleep in darkness. However, the nights are usually quiet, except for the occasional slamming metal door, ringing phone, and piercing scream from one of the actively psychotic or suicidal women housed on

the unit. Despite knowing that isolation can drive people insane, the mental health care here is woefully inadequate. Once a month, a mental health staff comes to ask us if we are hallucinating, hearing voices, or are suicidal. More frequent meetings can be requested, but they offer no coping skills, no therapy, no advocacy. The luckiest among us are prescribed anti-depressants to numb us from the hardest parts of being alone. I am fortunate to have incredible support from my family and friends. To pass the time, I read, write, learn and plan for the future when I can be with them again. What sanity I eek out of these letters, books, phone calls and visits is enough to sustain me just a little longer. I am mentally stable now, but my mind broke down under the weight of isolation 3 1/2 years ago, and it was a long, slow, painful process of putting myself back together. Acutely psychotic women who refuse medication are frequently locked in a cell where they bang and talk and argue with voices, scream about God and demons, and/or refuse to shower or eat for fear of being poisoned. This can go one for weeks until some invisible threshold is crossed and E-Squad officers dressed in full riot gear come in, hold her down, and a nurse injects her with an anti-psychotic medicine. This scene gets repeated every two weeks until she cooperates. Other women who enter sane will become so depressed that they shut down or hurt themselves. I watched a woman claw chunks of flesh from her cheeks and nose and write on the window with her blood. My neighbor bashed her head against the concrete until officers dragged her to a padded cell. When she returned, the scab on her forehead was huge and shaped like the country of Brazil. Right across from my cell, a woman slit her own throat with a razor and was wheeled out on a gurney. Two others tried to asphyxiate themselves with bras and shoestrings. Now no one has shoestrings and we shuffle around in floppy tennis shoes with loose tongues. Once, I found some embroidery floss and tied up the middle lace holes to keep myself from tripping. A guard demanded that I give her the five inch strings and then formally punished me for this violation. Another woman cut her wrists using the metal band around a pencil eraser. Now, all our pencils are stripped naked. It is always the poor prisoner porter who is forced to clean up the blood puddles and shit smears left behind when someone?s mind spirals down the rabbit hole. How is this an acceptable management tool for human beings? Short-term isolation is understandably useful for investigations, medical quarantines, emergencies, etc., but using long-term isolation to manage behavior is inhumane and hateful, especially when prison administrators do not offer a clear alternative. There is no behavioral therapy, no guidance, no education. There are no identified, achievable goals for the prisoner to earn her way out of isolation. The decisions seem arbitrary and capricious at best. There is no due process to protect our miniscule civil rights. In the thirteen years I have been held prisoner, I have never committed an act of violence. I escaped from another prison over five years ago with the help of a prison guard. I essentially walked out of the back door. Today, that guard is at home a free man while I am still kept in with the help of a prison guard. I essentially walked out of the back door. Today, that guard is at home a free man while I am still kept in this earthly purgatory. Why and for how long I do not know, because the prison administrators refuse to tell me. How?s that for human rights in America? Y In the spring of 1954, Picasso met the young Sylvette David in Vallauris on the Cte d’Azur. She embodied the ideal of beauty typical of that era tall in stature, with long, blond hair bound in a pony tail and inspired the painter to create a series of portraits. For months, he experimented in front of the model with various styles and techniques. With seeming effortlessness, Picasso varied his approach from realistic depictions to cubist abstractions of the same pictorial subject. With brush and pencil,

Picasso created close-to-nature likenesses and complex abstractions of Sylvette. Arising at the same time were folded metal sculptures painted in black and white. U.S. District Judge Charlene E. Honeywell today sentenced Robert Magruder, Jr. (55, Winter Park) to eight years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography. As part of his sentence, Magruder was ordered to serve a 10-year term of supervision, following his release from prison, and required to register as a sex offender. The court also ordered Magruder to forfeit the devices he used to possess and distribute the child pornography. Magruder pleaded guilty on October 31, 2013. According to court documents, on April 5, 2013, Magruder made files of child pornography available for download by other individuals by placing the files into a shared folder of an online peer-to-peer file sharing network. On this same date, from Magruder’s computer, an undercover task force agent downloaded three sets of videos depicting

children less than 12 years of age being sexually abused, exploited, and subjected to sadistic or masochistic conduct. Magruder was subsequently identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the user of the computer that distributed the images. On June 12, 2013, agents interviewed Magruder at his residence. He admitted that he used the peer-to-peer file sharing program to search for and collect child pornography and acknowledged that he was aware that files in his shared folder were available for download by other individuals. Agents also executed a search warrant at Magruder’s residence and seized electronic devices containing several images and videos of child pornography, as well as evidence of Magruder’s use of the peer-to-peer file sharing program that he used to distribute the child pornography. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Seminole County Sheriff ’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew C. Searle. Bob, I use 8’ oars and keep them in the cabin. They are fairly easy to put in there. I think 9’ oars would work better but the 8’ oars move it well enough and fit in the cabin. I mainly use mine to row out of Oceanside, CA harbor on days when there is no wind. Recently I left my motor at home for the first time ever since “I hardly ever use it” and ended up rowing half of a mile on one stretch. Good exercise but can’t say that I enjoyed it! At the age of seven, the artist lost her parents in a commercial airplane crash. For many years after her mother’s and father’s clothing was stored in the attic of the family home. The artist began using these tucked-away shirts, jackets, dresses, and robes later in life as the subjects of large-scale cyanotype contact prints. The resulting images that make up her series Remnants consist of white, ghostly outlines of these garments, complete with the subtle details of stitching and buttons against striking blue backgrounds. The placement of of each piece of clothing suggests life and movement, as if the sun’s rays have simply passed through each invisible wearer. The stories of the people who used to inhabit these items remain in spite of their absence, pointing to the extraordinary capacity for objects--especially photographic objects--to contain memory and

time. “The dresses and shirts were stored in the third floor of our house for many years. There was never an explanation of why they were kept or their significance for my parents. After the plane crash the collective family grief was so great my parents were rarely mentioned. As I grew older I regarded these saved garments as tangible evidence of their existence and used them to try and piece together their identities.” Thanks for reaching out to me and asking me about what side windows am I using??? A federal jury has convicted a 60-year-old Lumberton, Texas man of child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today. Ronald Seabridge, Sr., owner of Brass Dragon Karate, was found guilty on February 27, 2014, of receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography following a four-day trial before U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield. According to information presented in court, in 2009, federal agents executed a search warrant at Seabridge’s residence/karate studio in Lumberton as the result of an undercover operation which determined Seabridge was using a peer-to-peer file sharing program to receive and distribute child pornography. Seabridge’s computer and hard drives were seized, and a forensic examination revealed over 300 images of child pornogra-

phy. Seabridge was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 23, 2013. Thanks to the USDA, chickens could be killed in the United States, shipped to China for processing, and then sent back to the states

Plus, the cou nt r y’s chicken workers will likely be paid much less than workers in America --meaning we’ll be contributing to a culture of worker exploitation in addition to endangering our own health. There’s no reason to make the meat industry even more tainted than it already is. Tell the government you don^t want chicken bred or processed in China showing up in our supermarkets, restaurants or school lunches. Hi my dear friend, I hope you are having a great day! My friend, yesterday you might got notice from ebay which says your robe was already shipped out. My friend, i am so sorry that it was still not shipped because when we checked your robe before we ship it, we found there was mistake with the cuffs design. My friend, you required frog buttons at the cuffs, but our tailor mixed your order with another friend’s robe. That friend doesnot want frog buttons at cuffs, but they made it to his robe. You do want the buttons, but they didnot make it. After we found that, i already asked our tailors to make new robes in right style for you and that friend. My friend, again we are so sorry for the inconvenience here. I asked our wudang partner to make the new robe and ship it to shaolin as soon as possible. So your robe is supposed to arrive the day after tomorrow, then we will check it and ship it out at once. My friend, i am so sorry for this and now i am worried do you need the robe in hurry? Thank you so much for your time my friend and i hope to hear from you soon. Amituofo! Yours, Ella from shaolin, China I’ve been running into Ruffed Grouse lately but haven’t heard any drumming. Lots of drumming from Red-Breasted Sapsuckers starting around March 10. Saw a Anna’s or Costa’s male hummer on ~March 8 (visited feeder) and again on March 13 but both looks were too brief to ID. Long mustaches over back but Anna’s is much more likely (though I can’t remember one this time of year in

the past. Usually see them here late summer and fall). The evident loss of political influence by the hegemonic nation over its neocolonies is an indication of the erosion of the neocolonial world-system. The national bourgeoisies of the neocolonies are no longer able to function as figurehead bourgeoisies able to manage and control popular demands. Ideological penetration by the neocolonial power has been undermined, as traditional political parties have become discredited, and new forms of popular democracy have emerged. And repression of the popular movements by the militaries of the neocolonies is not possible in the present political climate. A Baldwin, Illinois man was sentenced in federal district court on March 21, 2014, on a three-count indictment

charging him with receipt of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct (count one), access with intent to view visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct (count two), and possession of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct (count three), the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today. Michael A. Nieweglowski, Jr., a/k/a “Tony,” 45, was sentenced to a term of 180 months in federal prison on all counts, to run concurrently; to be followed by a lifetime term of supervised release on all counts, again to run concurrently; ordered to pay $632.71 in restitution; fined $500; and ordered to pay a $300 special assessment. In addition, upon his release from prison, Nieweglowski must register as a sex offender as a condition of supervised release. Nieweglowski has been detained by the United States Marshals Service since his arraignment on May 1, 2013. “Predators, like this person, must face long sentences if we are to protect our children from them. If anyone doubts that these individuals are a danger, that person should look at this case. My office will continue to seek appropriate sentences for those who would prey on the most vulnerable in our communities,” said United States Attorney Wigg inton. The investigation began on January 14, 2011, when Nieweglowski, who had been on mandatory supervised release since at least September 10, 2010, for a predatory criminal sexual assault conviction, which was the result of Nieweglowski molesting a 5-year-old relative, was turned over to his parole officer after suspected child pornography was found on a printer in Nieweglowski’s parents’ home on December 30, 2011. On January 15, 2011, a special federal officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Springfield Child Exploitation Task Force seized numerous media devices from N i e w e g l o w s k i ’s camper trailer, which was parked next to his parents’ home, as well as the laptop computer that Nieweglowski could access in his parents’ home. Among the items seized from the defendant’s camper trailer was a PNY thumb drive. A forensic review of the seized laptop home revealed approximately 79 visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct that had

been downloaded via the Internet. The PNY thumb drive was found to contain approximately 80 visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct that had been transferred to the thumb drive from the laptop computer. Several of the visual depictions possessed by Nieweglowski contained images of prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct as well as images of minors that depicted sadistic behavior. Evidence introduced at the Nieweglowski’s sentencing showed that another relative came forward after Nieweglowski was charged with the molestation of the first relative and reported that Nieweglowski began molesting him/her since he/she was 5 years old and that it lasted for years. He/she did not, however, want to discuss it with the police, thus no formal charges were filed against Nieweglowski for this alleged molestation. In addition, while being transported back to an Illinois prison after violating the terms of his mandatory supervised release by viewing and downloading child pornography, Nieweglowski told his parole officer that he began looking at pornography because he was lonely and that he was “doing some of the same things he did before he was charged the first time,” with the molestation of his 5 -yea r- old relative. Furthermore, during an interview by a FBI special agent, Nieweglowski admitted that, once he found child pornography on the Internet, he could not stop himself from searching for and viewing child pornography. He said that he bought a thumb drive to use to save the images of child pornography because he was not always able to find it on the Internet. He would then take the images to his camper where he was able to view them through his television. Nieweglowski stated that he had an interest in pedophilia and incest. This seems like beneficial evolution from central authority to multiple authorities, and in the future probably to the truly decentralized personal level, as technology advancements begin to support smaller entities controlling their own namespaces and the routing. The Internet was never like broadcast ether, it was just presented that way. Imagine if the air was subject to the mechanics of the Internet: you talk to several people in the room, but some can’t hear you, because the air operator didn’t feel like it. You act surprised, indignated, and then you complain to the government. All because of your own ignorance

about how the air works, and your own gullibility to buy into the air marketing. Internet is not like air, and will never be. Decentralization is a good thing, and the sooner the public perception of the Internet gets closer to reality, the better. Of course, the newly empowered fiefdoms will never agree to further delegate the authority to their subjects, but it will happen to them as it happened to ICANN. Expect to see the exodus of Internet luminaries parasiting on the current centralized system into new subdomains. That’s where the money is. I am blown away by my Rudder Craft composite rudder. While rigging on the trailer, I accidentally “let it go,” swinging full-force onto concrete. There was only a very minor smudge, and no damage. While on a mooring, a gentlemanskipper reported that he was willing to replace or repair my rudder, which he apparently used as a fulcrum to turn his 26footer during his gusty landing. His rail slid along my rudder for about 10feet. Evidently as stranger on the dock grabbed a line and pulled on it prematurely, thinking they were helping him “land safely.” My rudder was vunerable in the full-up position. He assumed that he had ripped the pintles from the transom (of my IM Sanibel 18)internally, and ruined the SS rudder joint. That was far from the case. There was only a slight mark on the rudder, the joint plates rebounded, and no damage occured to boat or systems. When discussing this experience directly with Rudder Craft, they suggested lightly sanding the smudge and 1/64th inch mark from the scrape ... That’s it! IM had done a great job of reinforcing the pintles, and Rudder Craft had built a dynamite rudder system for them to install for me. It has also been my experience that the rudder immediately retracts upon striking a shallow object, like when the skipper goes on the wrong side of an obstruction buoy. That is dumb, for sure; but, having the rudder neatly volunteer to lift while beaching is not. A storm system developing in the central Plains will draw moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico setting the stage for thunderstorms in the eastern Plains to Mississippi River Valley on Thursday. Some of these storms could be severe with large hail, damaging winds and even isolated tornadoes. Farther north, heavy snow will fall in the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes through Thursday. U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz sentenced Thomas Warren Stickney, age 22, of Timonium, Maryland, today to five years in prison, followed by 25 years of supervised release, for distribution of child pornography. Judge Motz ordered that upon his release from prison, Stickney must register as a sex offender in the place where he resides, where he is an employee, and where he is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge William Winter of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); Special Agent in Charge Stephen E. Vogt of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Chief James W. Johnson of the Baltimore County Police Department; and Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger. According to Stickney’s plea agreement, on December 13, 2012, Stickney sent an image and video, each depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, to an individual with whom he was commu-

nicating online. The individual reported the incident to Baltimore County Police detectives, who assumed the online identity of the individual. In an undercover capacity, a Baltimore County Police detective communicated with Stickney and requested another video, which Stickney supplied. Stickney then asked the detective to meet him for sexual purposes. The detective, still in an undercover capacity, informed Stickney that he would have to drop off his young nephew before he could meet with Stickney. Stickney suggested that the detective bring his nephew along so that they could engage in sexually explicit conduct with the nephew. Stickney was arrested when he arrived at a local motel for the meeting. A search recovered two condoms from Stickney’s front pants pocket, as well as a cellular phone from the front console of the car and a laptop computer and external hard drive from a backpack on the front passenger seat. A search warrant was obtained for Stickney’s car and residence. A subsequent forensic examination of the laptop, external hard drive, and other digital media seized from Stickney’s home showed that there were approximately 14,350 images and 203 video files of minors, including prepubescent minors, engaged in sexually explicit conduct. These included depictions of sadistic and masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence. We service North Americas top retailer and we are looking for a top copywriting talent. There can be little doubt about the centrality and severity of the environmental crisis in the present day. Driven by the mindless “grow-or-die” imperative of capitalism, humanity’s destruction of the biosphere has reached and even surpassed various critical thresholds, whether in terms of carbon emissions, biodiversity loss, ocean acidification, freshwater depletion, or chemical pollution. Extreme weather events can be seen pummeling the globe, from the Philippines - devastated by Typhoon Haiyan in November of last year to California, which is presently suffering from the worst drought in centuries. As Nafeez Ahmed has shown, a recently published study funded in part by NASA warns of impending civilizational collapse without radical changes to address social inequality and overconsumption. Truthout’s own Dahr Jamail has written a number of critical pieces lately that have documented the profundity of the current trajectory toward anthropogenic climate disruption (ACD) and global ecocide: In a telling metaphor, he likens the increasingly mad weather patterns brought about by ACD to an electrocardiogram of a “heart in defibrillation.” Members of the Khadia tribe were harassed and pressured for three years to leave their ancestral homeland, after it was turned into the Similipal Tiger Reserve. They were removed from the Reserve in December 2013. They had been promised money, livestock and land in compensation but have received almost nothing. They now live in squalid conditions under plastic sheets. The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and some virtual private networks (VPNs). The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the names and passwords of the

users and the actual content. This allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users. CORPORATE profits are at their highest level in at least 85 years. Employee compensation is at the lowest level in 65 years. The Commerce Department last week estimated that corporations earned $2.1 trillion during 2013, and paid $419 billion in corporate taxes. The after-tax profit of $1.7 trillion amounted to 10 percent of gross domestic product during the year, the first full year it has been that high. In 2012, it was 9.7 percent, itself a record. Until 2010, the highest level of after-tax profits ever recorded was 9.1 percent, in 1929, the first year that the government began calculating the number.

Before taxes, corporate profits accounted for 12.5 percent of the total economy, tying the previous record that was set in 1942, when World War II pushed up profits for many companies. But in 1942, most of those profits were taxed away. The effective corporate tax rate was nearly 55 percent, in sharp contrast to last year’s figure of under 20 percent. Our Collective spared no effort to attack wholeheartedly the totalitarism of Google, the platform where the world’s information transits through. Yet one may also somehow position Google within the tradition of the Age of Enlightenment. Google pursues the old dream of global knowledge accessible to all who benefit from its benign and enlightened tyranny. To liberate the human being from her/his ‘minority position’ and making her/him more autonomous was the aim of Enlightenment, and one will surely gladly adhere to that ideal. But then, the dark side of Google is also the Enlightenment’s dark side: its unrestrained display of scientific rationality, of technological advances, and of all myths that go with them. Ratio’s reg re ssive moment comes with the advent of the barbary of total control, of human alienation - and of the life-world as a whole - all in the name of a machinic religion. There is no doubt that Google represents the icon of the mega-machine in all its positive and negative aspects. Google develops innovative algorithms and filters providing snappy search results, as outcome of scientific research and technical invention. Yet Google’s contents are not solely the offshoot of profiling its users, they are also, and even mostly so, the result of a creative tension born out of a stock of freely available information resources, (but) this within the limits of a freedom to access which is managed by a technical subject - and thus not by the users (themselves) who intends not to be malevolent (the famous “/Don’t be evil”/ motto), all this within the context of a capitalist ‘free market’. gence Division who says foreign intelligence services befriend students over time with hopes the students get jobs in the U.S. government. Orlando: This isn’t something that they’re trying to accomplish in days or weeks, but something that they’re going to work on for years. The ultimate goal is that the student is going to commit espionage and provide them sensitive information. And we believe that this will probably extend beyond government, but also into business. Financialization indicates a systemic transformation that has basically three fundamental tendencies, which we can locate at the deepest level of the capitalist economy. First, we find that commercial and industrial enterprises have become financialized. In other words, they rely -- the big ones, at least -- less on banks. They have a lot of money capital, which is available for investment, but they don’t actually invest it directly, they use it for financial profit making. So in that way, they’ve acquired some financial capabilities thems e l v e s they’ve become finance-like. They are financialized. The second tendency is that banks have been t r a n s formed; they do less straightforward money collecting and lending and more transacting in open markets, and more business with households. And the third tendency has to do with households themselves. Households have been sucked into the formal financial system. They rely more on it for borrowing, and they rely more on it for assets like pensions, insurance, and so on. They have become financialized, too. The reasons for this development are complex: Wages have been stagnant, real incomes have not been rising systematically, and at the same time, public provision in health, education, housing, and so many other fields has either not expanded or retreated. In that context, private provisioning has taken its place, and private provision has been mediated by private finance. Consequently, households have become financialized. These three tendencies taken together define, in a deep way, the financialization of contemporary capitalism and indicate a historic transformation -- a major shift in the development of capitalism. Aaron Robert Wells, 23, of Borger, Texas, appeared today in federal court before U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson and pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography. Wells, who is on bond, faces a maximum statutory penalty of not less than five years and up to 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime of supervised release. Sentencing will be set at a later date. U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaa of the Northern District of Texas made the announcement today. According to documents filed in the case, in March 2012, Wells was contacted online by an undercover law enforcement officer through file sharing software. Wells provided the undercover officer passwords necessary to download images of child pornography that Wells had saved his computer and had made available for online sharing. Among other images, the undercover officer downloaded two images of minor males engaged in sexually explicit conduct. U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar sentenced David Ralph Fisher, age 43, of Baltimore, today to 293 months in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release, for producing child pornography and attempting to coerce and entice a minor to engage in sexually explicit activity. Judge Bredar ordered that upon his release from prison, Fisher must register as a sex offender in the place where he resides, where he is an employee, and where he is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Stephen E. Vogt of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Commissioner Anthony W. Batts of the Baltimore Police Department; and Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein. According to his plea agreement and court documents, David Fisher repeatedly requested that his ex-wife, Lori Fisher, produce sexually explicit photos of two minor girls, which she did on at least two occasions between August and December 2008. Lori Fisher

took the photos on her cell phone and then texted the images to David Fisher, who saved the images on his cell phone and computers. On November 4, 2012, the Baltimore Police Department received information that images and videos of child pornography were observed on David Fisher’s external hard drive at his residence. The external hard drive was provided to police. Many files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct were found. A search warrant was subsequently executed at David Fisher’s residence on November 20, 2012, and computers, cell phones, and other items were seized. Sexually explicit e-mail messages with attachments were recovered in which Fisher solicited child pornography from other individuals and shared child pornography from his collection. Also, in February 2013, law enforcement confirmed that some of the sexually explicit images found on David’s computer and cell phone were images of the two minor girls that Lori Fisher had photographed and sent to David. In all, over 2,200 images and 100 videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including prepubescent minors, were recovered. On March 14, 2013, a Baltimore Police detective working undercover contacted David Fisher on Facebook, posing as a 14-year-old female. Between March 14 and April 11, 2013, David Fisher communicated with the undercover detective through Facebook and e-mail, often using a computer at a public library because of law enforcement’s seizure of his home computer. David Fisher asked the undercover detective to send him sexually explicit photos and sent the undercover detective sexually explicit photographs of himself. Fisher also gave the undercover detective his cell phone number and proposed meeting to engage in sexual activity. A meeting was arranged for April 11, 2013. Fisher was arrested when he arrived at the meeting. Lori Fisher, age 46, of St. Cloud, Florida, and formerly of Bel Air, Maryland, previously pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography and faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison at her sentencing scheduled for June 11, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. As part of her plea agreement, Lori Fisher will be required to register as a sex offender in the place where she resides, where she is an employee, and where she is a student, under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). As America’s new economy starts to look more like the old economy of the Great Depression, the divide between rich and poor, those who have made it and those who never will, seems to grow ever starker. I know. I’ve seen it firsthand. Once upon a time, I worked as a State Department officer, helping to carry out the occupation of Iraq, where Washington’s goal was regime change. It was there that, in a way, I had my first taste of the life of the 1%. Unlike most Iraqis, I had more food and amenities than I could squander, nearly unlimited funds to spend as I wished (as long as the spending supported us one-percenters), and plenty of U.S. Army muscle around to keep the other 99% at bay. However, my subsequent whistleblowing about State Department waste and mismanagement in Iraq ended my 24-year career abroad and, after a two-decade absence, deposited me back in “the homeland.” I returned to America to find another sort of regime change underway, only I wasn’t among the 1% for this one. Instead, I ended up working in the new minimum-wage economy and saw firsthand what a life of lousy pay and barely adequate food benefits adds up to. For the version of regime change that found me

working in a big box store, no cruise missiles had been deployed and there had been no shock-and-awe demonstrations. Nonetheless, the cumulative effects of years of deindustrialization, declining salaries, absent benefits, and weakened unions, along with a rise in meth and alcohol abuse, a broad-based loss of good jobs, and soaring inequality seemed similar enough to me. A Cranford, New Jersey man was sentenced today to 63 months in prison for distributing images of child sexual abuse over the Internet, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. Andrew Johnson, 30, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton to an information charging him with one count of distribution of child pornography. Judge Wigenton imposed the sentence to-

day in in Newark federal court. According to documents filed in the case and statements in court: Johnson admitted that on December 7, 2012, he made available for others to download via an online peer-topeer, file-sharing network images and videos of child sexual abuse that were stored on his home computer. An undercover law enforcement agent successfully downloaded from Johnson one image and 14 videos of child sexual abuse via the file sharing network. As part of his guilty plea, Johnson agreed to forfeit the computers and computer accessories he used to commit the offense. He will also be required to register as a sex offender. In addition to the prison term, Judge Wigenton sentenced Johnson to serve five years of supervised release and pay restitution of $13,500. U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Aaron T. Ford in Newark, and the Cranford Police Department with the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea. The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle Alfonzo Walsman of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark. Commission of Inquiry on North Korea “a disgusting old lecher with 40-odd-yearlong career of homosexuality”; and, in a loathsome screed, referred to U.S. President Barack Obama as a “monkeyish human monstrosity.” As of May 6, 2014, nearly 15 percent of United States was gripped by extreme to exceptional drought, according to U.S. Drought Monitor. Half of the United States was experiencing at least some level of drought. The summer season is just beginning but dry conditions are already making a serious impact on fruit and vegetable agriculture in California. News reports sounded the alarm for grains and livestock in the Plains and South Central West. At least 54 percent of the nation’s wheat crop is affected by some level of drought, as is 30 percent of corn, and 48 percent of cattle. Named “Naia” by scientists, her skeleton is among the oldest known and best preserved in the Americas. She was discovered by a team led by the Mexican government’s National Institute of Anthropology and History and supported by the Washingtonbased National Geographic Society. Naia’s remains were found in 2007, submerged in an underwater cave along with the bones of saber tooth tigers, giant sloths and cave bears, some 135 feet (41 meters) below sea level. After several days of extremely heavy rain over parts of Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Balkan Peninsula is experiencing its worst-ever flooding. Heavy rains started on Wednesday, May 14 and by Monday, May 19, all major rivers have burst their banks at some points. More than 45 people have lost their lives as waters submerged towns and swept away roads and bridges. Residents are describing the ongoing event as cataclysmic. This was the heaviest rainfall and worst flooding in the region since measurements began (120 years ago) - the worst flooding in known history. More rain fell in one day than in four months. In Serbia, flood waters acted as a 3 - 4 meter high tsunamis. Entire towns were flooded in a matter of minutes. Now, I am just about ready to put the boat in the water. A neighbor of mine, who owns power boats, noticed the hole in the back of the boat and asked me if I had a plug for it. The hole in the back connects by hose to the inside bottom stern of the boat. I had assumed that the inside hole was above the water line and, therefore, no plug was needed. However, I certainly don’t want to be surprised. Do I need a plug for the hole on the bottom of the stern on the outside? Major developments in recent days could shape the nation’s media landscape for years to come. Last week, the Federal Communications Commission advanced a proposal that critics say threatens net neutrality, the concept of a free and open Internet. The new rules could allow Internet “fast lanes” where companies pay providers for faster access to consumers. That sparked a wave of protest from opponents who say the rules hand too much power to the major companies who can afford to shell out, consolidating their control at the expense of smaller competitors and consumers’ monthly bills. Similar concerns have been raised about a merger deal struck over the weekend. The telecom giant AT&T has agreed to buy satellite television operator DirecTV in a nearly $50 billion deal. The move comes just months after Comcast announced plans to merge with Time Warner Cable. The NWS Storm Prediction Center is forecasting a risk of severe weather Thursday across parts of the central & southern High Plains, and also from parts of the MidAtlantic States to the Tennessee Valley. Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary hazards. A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week confirmed what many have suspected: more than 10,000 2- and 3-yearolds in the U.S. are being dosed with drugs like Ritalin and Adderall for “attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.” There is no medical basis to the dosing. American Academy of Pediatrics’ guidelines for ADHD “do not even address the diagnosis in children 3 and younger--let alone the use of such stimulant medications,” reported the New York Times, especially because “hyperactivity and

impulsivity are developmentally appropriate for toddlers.” Toddlers on Medicaid are especially targeted for ADHD meds, commensurate with Big Pharma’s heisting of government funds as its main source of revenue, a marketing plan also seen with Medicare, TRICARE and the VA prescriptions. Why does the richest nation in the world have so many children afflicted with ADHD, conduct disorders, depression, “spectrum” disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, mixed manias, social phobia and bipolar disorder? Because children are good customers. Wearing the “V for Vendetta”-inspired Guy Fawkes masks of the Occupy movement, a group of 50 activists in Italy cut through barbed wire to enter the Fontega US army base on May 1. They filmed themselves scattering marijuana seeds (as well as a few corn and tomato seeds) around the compound. According to a press release, the rogue gardeners were part of Italy’s No Dal Molin movement and their actions were in protest of violent U.S. policies. They planted 200,000 seeds in all, “to liberate our land from the foundations of war.” The statement speaks up against the failed U.S. war on drugs and corrupt U.S. policies at large. It seems India is about to finally push up the plan to bring at least minimal electricity to 400 million of their citizens still without power. With population of over 1.2 billion their new energy plan is described as second green revolution, the first being agricultural advances that relieved famine across the subcontinent in the middle of the 20th century. With extremely high energy demand throughout the country they will still have to invest in other forms of power generation (primarly coal) but solar energy is finally getting a push in a right direction.Although you might argue that claims made by newly elected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring solar energy to every home in the country by 2019. Ushio Shrine was the last shrine I visited before heading over the pass out of the Hi watershed. It is named after the Ushio clan who had a small “castle” on top of the mountain behind the shrine. They were vassals of the Amago. It is yet another shrine in the area that is listed in both the Izumo Fudoki, and the Engi Shiki. The main kami enshrined here is Unojihiko, the same kami. While walking through the parking lot of an apartment complex in Houston, Texas a man was confronted by an armed robber who demanded his belongings. The man responded by drawing a gun and shooting the robber twice, causing the thief to flee. Police captured the criminal a short time later at a local hospital. The NWS Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, Oklahoma expects a slight risk of severe weather on Saturday. The area of greatest concern is in west Texas and southeast New Mexico where damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats. You Are Not Alone... Did you get it? just a few days ago we said that sometimes we get a word of knowledge from the Holy Spirit. This has happened a few times while we are praying for you the past few days. When the Holy Spirit moves this word of knowledge came in strong and fast for you and your family. God has shared with me while in pray for you through the Holy Spirit how He is moving you into a new position where You are going to be the living proof that God honors His Holy Word and you will be living in His over abundance with your every need met by Him. God is doing this for you because you will be blessed in a massive way, so will be able share and tell everybody around you that God blesses you in everything you put your hands to. You will be a living testament of God’s love and blessings for every one that comes in contact with you! This is also a reminder about the prayer request that we received for you and I want share with you so you can know more about the prayers that have been made for you. God is leading me to know exactly what is the spiritual darkness from hell is causing the all of your frustration, pain and hurt that keeps coming at you again and again. It’s really is holding you back and your family too, from achieving all of your heart’s desires. While I have been in prayer am being led by the Holy Spirit so that I know exactly how to stop it and get it away from you. I’m praying for you in Jesus name that the Angels of God are with you at all times. You Are Not Alone a prayer request that was emailed to us to pray for you, has me so moved that for the next 30 days both me and Lindaone of our very special volunteer prayer warriors who lives on a small farm in Switzerland with her husban, 4

dogs and a guinea pig named Goose. Linda has an amazing supernatural anointing from God when she prays for people’s problems, wants and needs, so both her and I will pray and mediate on the Word of God that you quickly receive God’s blessing and to break the yoke of spiritual darkness of what is causing the all of this spiritual pain and hurt that keeps coming at you. This darkness from hell that is also holding back from so much like the massive out pouring of God’s favor and blessing into both you and your family’s lives; We will keep this prayer vigilance for you and lighting prayer candles and keep them lighted during the next thirty days as a strong point of contact between us as a constant reminder that Jesus is the light of the world and our Lord and Savior who willing gave his life by dying on the cross so that we could live by taking us away from the darkness of hell. I also want you to know you get miracles from God not by just lighting a candle but by having someone like myself and Linda come into agreement with the word of God praying in Jesus’ Name. You need people who stand strong unshakable faith like Linda and I praying with a special prayer anointing from God and who have made a promise to Him like we have for you, to pray for you hours upon hours for many many days pouring there heart out for you in strong and faithful intercessory prayer and spending a lot of time in prayer doing it for you. You need more than someone just lighting candles for you and your loved ones because it takes a massive amout of prayer. You may be asking why is this going to work for me and my love ones this time or in the past when my prayers not answered by God? This will work in Jesus’ Name, because you are not alone we are being led by the Holy Spirit for you and we spend a lot of time in this kind of powerful prayer for you and your loved ones believing God is making miracles happen for you and breaking this darkness and negativity from hell that is around you and your family’s situation, It is exactly what’s causing all of you and your family’s problems both in the past and in the here and now. Do you realize that there is a massive out pouring of God’s favor and blessing ready to suddenly spring forth in both you and your family’s lives? I am very happy that the Holy Spirit has move within me that you are not alone and I will pay for the candles and I will keep them lighted for the thirty days of prayer for you! These candles will be our holy and scarred point of contact

with both you and your loved ones and represent to us that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and He is the one true light of the world you are not alone. It’s my honor to have made this commitment both you & your loved ones- And to the Lord our God. I am paying for these candles as a way of sharing with you and giving an offering to God. The candles are made from a blend of beeswax from Israel the holy land. During the next thirty days it will take at least five candles to keep them lighted for you and your loved ones over the 30 days of prayer. Again, I am paying for the cost for five of these candles is $47.53 for you and your family Every transfer of Bitcoin as Nakamoto designed the system offers the possibility to track the economic activity and associations of

anyone using Bitcoin -as Barber et al. note, *all Bitcoins are public knowledge*. As a surveillance apparatus, it is difficult to imagine a more perfect way to monitor how citizens behave than to link transaction histories to the currency itself. Even peer-to-peer exchanges that would be beyond oversight with a traditional currency become subject to precise scrutiny. In attempting to remove the third party (bank/ government) from the exchange process, Bitcoin instead enshrines the authority it attempts to displace. I am an artist lQQking for work! Two growhouse busts this week at empty Golden Gate Estates homes turned up 176 marijuana plants, Collier sheriff ’s deputies said Thursday. Deputies executing search warrants found the plants behind the homes located at 2770 Desoto Blvd. S. and 4019 22nd Ave. N.E. The Sheriff ’s Office, which values each plant at $3,000, said the plants had a combined street value estimated at $528,000. Deputies searched the Desoto Boulevard South home Tuesday, finding 95 plants and growing equipment valued at about $30,000 in a large metal structure behind the home. One day later, deputies searched the 22nd Avenue Northeast home, finding a recently dismantled metal structure. Behind the structure, investigators found a large pile of dirt used to cover 81 marijuana plants. Inside the home, two firearms and a sophisticated surveillance system were found. Nobody was found at either home, and sheriff ’s officials didn’t indicate any arrests had been made. Only authorized

Science and Technology serves museums in a variety of ways: from the technical examination of artist’s methods and materials; to informing decisions on safer ways to exhibit, store, and transport art; and finally to investigating new conservation methods that are safer or more effective. All museums benefit from the application of science in some way. Modern and contemporary art poses specific challenges for two different reasons: the media the artists can draw from is more varied than any other period in history and the works are all young in age. These aspects can make a conservator’s job easy or extremely difficult. They can also help improve our understanding of how works by Old Masters may have changed. Since conservators of contemporary art are often the first to treat an object it is particularly important treatments are always carefully considered and well informed and science can play a major role in that regard. Hamilton police said the soldier was robbed as he left his home on Erie Avenue at 10 a.m. Thursday. The 22year-old was confronted by a “scraggly-looking” man who asked for money, then pulled a knife. In the fight that followed, the soldier was cut and dropped a pouch containing the cash, which the bandit grabbed. “The suspect looked inside and then ran off,” said police Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings. Gentlemen: Has there been any indication from your readers of the scarcitty of butterflies this year? In this area which is usually quite prolific, I have seen practically none with the exception of a few flights of Fritillaries. Since March I have seen but one example of an Apantesis virgo, no Catocala caras at all, veryfew Swallowtails, one Queloia, no Peacock’s Eyes, no Hipposcatics, and not even a sinclge Red Admiral in my garden, which last summer was teeming with butterflies. I wonder if this scarcity is widespread, and if so, what is the cause of it? M. Wasbourn We stand helpless

before the corporate onslaught. There is no way to vote against corporate power. Citizens have no way to bring about the prosecution of Wall Street bankers and financiers for fraud, military and intelligence officials for torture and war crimes, or security and surveillance officers for human rights abuses. The Federal Reserve is reduced to printing money for banks and financiers and lending it to them at almost zero percent interest; corporate officers then lend it to us at usurious rates as high as 30 percent. On May 10, Ros Montt, 86, was found guilty by a three-panel tribunal on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity, and sentenced to 80 years in the slammer; he is the first former head of state in the Americas to stand trial for genocide. But less than two weeks later, Guatemala’s highest court threw out all proceedings in the case dating back to April 19, in part thanks to an aggressive lobbying effort by the nation’s most influential business federation. Mainstream media coverage of climate and energy issues was up last year. But it turns out that if you remove the “and energy,” the numbers are actually pretty depressing. The University of Colorado’s Center for Science & Technology Research monitors mentions of “global warming” and “climate change” in five major U.S. newspapers: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. Check out the following sad graph showing its latest findings:The final numbers for the year are in and NY Times climate coverage -stories in which the words “global warming” or “climate change” appeared -- has plummeted more than 40 percent. That is a bigger drop than any of the other newspapers monitored by the University of Colorado, though the Washington Post’s coverage dropped by a third, no doubt driven in part by its mind-boggling decision to take its lead climate reporter, Juliet Eilperin, off the env i ron me nt beat. And remember, this drop happened from levels of climate coverage that were already near a historical low and in a year that was HUGE on climate news. We’ve had devastating extreme weather around the planet. In May, CO2 levels in the air passed the 400 parts per million threshold for the first time in millions of years. In June, President Obama announced his Climate Action Plan. And in September, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest alarming review of the scientific literature. During its long 400 years of history, it has gradually become a place of interest for its distinct ethnic color and native style. Among so many buildings, the Great Hall of the Golden Roof and the Great Hall of Meditation are the main parts. As the center core building, the Great Hall of the Golden Roof is in the middle of the monastery. Its colorful gates, which are different in length, are carved into various flower patterns and painted with multifarious fresh colors. The surfaces of the walls are covered with green ceramic tiles and embedded with countless pearls, agates, and gems, making the whole hall sparkle. The Ta’er Monastery is rich in fascinating arts. The famous butter sculptures, the barbolas, and the murals are considered to be the three most unique arts of superb craftsmanship. In recent years, what is commonly called the “fitting attitude” analysis of final value (FA) has gained considerable popularity amongst philosophers working in value theory and metaethics. FA is the view that what is for x to be good, or finally valuable, is for x to be the fitting object of a pro-attitude (or perhaps for there to be reasons to have a proattitude towards x). Using FA as a point of departure, this course examines a series of questions about the nature of value and the nature of normative reasons for propositional attitudes. In particular, we shall be examining the extent to which two kinds of objections to FA raise much farther reaching worries for other theories of value and normative reasons. A federal grand jury has charged Caleb Zachary Storey, 30, Cincinnati, with one count each of production of child pornography and possession of child pornography, alleging that he took sexually explicit photographs of a child he babysat. Carter M. Stewart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Kevin R. Cornelius, Special

Agent in Charge, FBI Cincinnati, announced the indictment returned today. FBI agents and members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force began investigating Storey when an image traceable to an address where he babysat was recovered during a child pornography investigation in Georgia. The image was of a 3-anda-half year old prepubescent male who was naked from the waist down and had an adult male’s hand in the picture. Agents obtained a search warrant for Storey’s apartment and conducted preliminary forensic exams of some items of computer equipment where they found images of child erotica and child pornography. The FBI arrested Storey on January 8 based on a criminal complaint. He has been in custody since his arrest. The indictment charges Storey with one count of production of child pornography, punishable by at least 15 and up to 30 years in prison, and one count of possession of child pornography, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan yesterday sentenced Randy Michael Jackson (40, Orange Park) to seven years in federal prison for receipt of child pornography. Jackson was indicted on February 20, 2013. He pleaded guilty to the offense on July 15, 013. According to court documents, in February 2013, special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at Jackson’s home in Orange Park and seized his computer. A forensic review of Jackson’s computer revealed that he had downloaded approximately 25,000 images and 500 hundred videos of children, as young as toddlers, engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults. This case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Malisa Chokshi. “Security,” the handmaiden of paranoia, is slowly invading every venue in America. If you thought the tentacles of Homeland Security were going to stay confined to the airport, you’re dreaming. And if you think the latest rules and regs in the War on Terror are going to be contained, I have a bridge to sell you. Major League Baseball has announced that all of its ballparks have to implement “enhanced” security screening by 2015. The procedures have already been tested in several places before a national roll-out. Gee, what does that remind me of? The new regs, which were, of course, designed in consu ltation with the Department of Homeland Security, require that all fans must pass through a metal detector and/or be wanded. Bank executives haven’t been held liable for Wall Street crime. They haven’t been prosecuted, which means they haven’t been held criminally liable. They haven’t been personally fined, which means they haven’t been held financially liable. They’ve all been allowed to keep criminally-obtained wealth. And, outside of grassroots outrage like the Occupy movement, they haven’t even been held morally or socially responsible for their misdeeds. Public rebukes or shaming have been rare. 36th division General Ma Fuyuan led a Chinese Muslim army to storm Kashgar on February 6, 1934, and attacked the Uighur and Kirghiz rebels of the First East Turkestan Republic. Keeping the pay for workers as low as possible is an inherent part of running a business and making a profit: the lower wages are, the higher profits are. Employers are “ job creators” only against their will; the fewer workers they need use to produce a different product or service, the better off the employer is. The high pay for business executives and dividends to shareholders are directly at the expense of the workers in their businesses. Exploitation at the consumption end. Increasing the demand for ever more consumers goods, of course necessarily paid for out of wages, increases the profits of the producers of those goods and the wealth of the owners of the firms that produce them. Inducing demand artificially, through advertising and the wide array of cultural patterns of the kinds long documented by sociologists and economists, supports the consumption exploitation of poor (as well as middle class) consumers, to the benefit of the rich. Exploitation at the financial end. Where, after all, do extraordinary profits of hedge fund managers and bankers come from? Ultimately, of course, from the prices paid by the purchasers of the goods and services they are financing. Their interest and dividend incomes and high salaries are really based on the profits of those making their money from more direct exploitation of the poor. Exploitation of the benefits of land ownership, an obvious and pervasive monopoly, paid, as economists put it, by rent not for anything that the recipient of rent payments has produced or done, but solely extracted by him through the possession of

something in limited supply for which there is demand. Property owners and developers are among the richest of the rich (think Donald Trump), in large part because they are able to benefit from the speculative increases in the pries of land which they own. Ultimately, those benefits are paid for in the prices consumers pay and the rents that tenants pay, a regressively distributive system enriching land owners at the expense of all others. All four of these forms of exploitation are among the primary causes of poverty and, centrally, inequality. The most important dilemma facing us is not ideological. It is logistical. The security and surveillance state has made its highest priority the breaking of any infrastructure that might spark widespread revolt. The state knows the

tinder is there. It knows that the continued unraveling of the economy and the effects of climate change make popular unrest inevitable. It knows that as underemployment and unemployment doom at least a quarter of the U.S. population, perhaps more, to perpetual poverty, and as unemployment benefits are scaled back, as schools close, as the middle class withers away, as pension funds are looted by hedge fund thieves, and as the government continues to let the fossil fuel industry ravage the planet, the future will increasingly be one of open conflict. This battle against the corporate state, right now, is primarily about infrastructure. We need an infrastructure to build revolt. The corporate state is determined to deny us one. The state, in its internal projections, has a vision of the future that is as dystopian as mine. But the state, to protect itself, lies. beautifuljasmin28@yahoo.com The people of Angola are stoics. They have a deep understanding of patience, and avoid blaming the difficulties the country faces on the fact that there was war. In fact, Angolans behave as if there was no war although it is deeprooted in every Angolan. Music is the heart and soul of every Angolan, it can be heard anywhere and they use anything as an excuse to party. The country has a wide range of music, mainly Kuduro, Kizomba, Semba, and Tarrachinha, the latter being more sensual than all the others. In all, it is safe to say that Angolans are fun and loving people with a thirst for more of what life has to give. Arthur Gregg Hutchins, 67, under supervised release for a previous conviction of possessing child pornography, has been ordered to prison again, announced United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson. Hutchins was previously convicted in 2005 and released from prison in 2012. He was under supervised release when he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography on June 24, 2013. Following a lengthy hearing yesterday, Senior U.S. District Judge Hayden Head considered Hutchins’ demonstrated recidivism and the need to protect the public and ordered him to federal prison for 188 months. The sentence will be served concurrently to a five-year term of imprisonment ordered for the revocation of his supervised release in the 2005 case. He will also serve a new lifetime term of supervised release following his release, during which he will have to comply with numerous conditions designed to restrict his access to children and the Internet. In handing down the sentence, the court noted that Hutchins presents a real and ongoing danger to the children of our community. The court considered the evidence seized in the case-the child pornography as well as written communications between Hutchins and other pedophiles. In those emails, Hutchins claimed to have himself been sexually assaulted, claimed to have personally sexually assaulted children in the past, and expressed a desire to sexually assault children in the future. Hutchins claimed that such writings were nothing more than fantasy. However, the judge rebuffed that denial and stated that society was entitled to take him at his word that he is a person who has and is capable of sexually assaulting children. The court further noted that his almost immediate return to child pornography following his release from prison in June 2012 was a strong indication that he is likely to reoffend. Hutchins came to the attention of law enforcement from a CyberTip received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding a person who had posted child pornography images online beginning in September 2012. The images were posted to a popular online photo sharing website by a person using an IP address linked to the Corpus Christi area. The IP address was later traced to the wife of Hutchins. Under supervised release and forbidden to reside near a school, Hutchins did not reside with his wife. The investigation was able to exclude the wife due to her work schedule and conflicting times associated with the online postings of child pornography. An investigation into his online activities and financial transactions led to his identification of the one responsible for the postings. At the time of his plea, he admitted to possessing images of child pornography he acquired from the Internet. Hello Friend, I am Mrs. Jessica Peters; I have been diagnosed with Breast and Blood disease which has defied

all forms of medical treatment and I have been touched to donate the sum of $4,500.000 {Four million, five hundred thousand dollars, part of what I and my late husband labored during our time together Because I am so weak and fragile to do things myself, I indulge your full assistant. You should email the followings in your reply message to me: Your Full Names & Address, Direct Telephone number and your direct email address if available Kindly get back to me; for me to tell you more about myself and the humanitarian work. Yours sincerely, Mrs. Jessica Peters Dear Sir, I am Yusuf Ahmed, a Syrian citizen, residing in London. My father was killed in Homs city of Syria and his business office burnt down because of his support to the rebels (The Syrian National Council) who is currently fighting to liberate the good people of Syria from the misrule of President Bashar AL- Assad. The rebel leaders have tried all they could to persuade President Bashar AL- Assad to conduct a free and all inclusive election but he refused and decided to go to war against the citizens he is pretending to govern. If President Bashar AL- Assad thinks that he is popular, he would have accepted to have a transitional committee and general election will be conducted and who wins will at-least bring peace to Syria. Anyway, let me not take your time with the situation in Syria as my family was mostly affected. I lost my father- Sheik Abu Ibrahim Ahmed, his company in Damascus and most of the family^s asset because the forces royal to President Bashar AL- Assad claimed that my father is supporting and financing the rebels and as such, I had to escape Syria with my wife and children to Lebanon and from there to London where my father had huge sum of money in London bank which was formerly frozen but were recently lifted by the British government, so that I can invest the funds with overseas partners because in Syria the political turmoil appeared to be continued for a long time. Honestly, I want to invest and make use of the money in your country, as we all are aware that the crisis still continues in Syria and I cannot also invest in UK due to their double-tax regime. Thanks for your anticipated cooperation. Regards, Yusuf Ahmed Three deaths and over 500 injuries in 29 prefectures have been blamed on a potent winter storm that has rolled across Japan today. This storm one of the strongest in recent memory has broken heavy snowfall records up and down the coastline. In Nagano Prefecture 3 women died and one man was seriously injured following a traffic accident this morning. Many of the injures that occurred throughout the day were either due to traffic accidents or people falling on slick surfaces. This was the common reason in the down town Tokyo area today. Down Town Tokyo recorded a record breaking amount of snowfall Saturday with a total of 25cm accumulating in the Metro area. Rail Ways, highways and both airports responded with numerous delays or in Narita’s case straight up becoming closed. Prison administrators place them in the SHU either for a fixed term for violating a prison rule or an indeterminate term for gang membership. Accusations of gang membership often relied on confidential

informants and circumstantial evidence. Accusations of gang association were also based on circumstantial evidence, such as possessing certain artwork or books (including Aztec or Black history), exercising with others or even signing a group petition. Hundreds of people have been confined within the SHU for over a decade. Until recently, the only way to be released from the SHU was to debrief, or provide information incriminating other prisoners, who are then placed in the SHU for an indeterminate sentence. My Dearest Friend, I am MR. Ahmed Mohammed Kuruma, Ghana International Bank London Life is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased (death), or else because they lack such functions and are classified as inanimate. Biology is the science concerned with the study of life. Any contiguous living system is called an organism. Organisms undergo metabolism, maintain homeostasis, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt to their environment in successive generations. Empedocles (430 BC) argued that every thing in the universe is made up of a combination of four eternal “elements” or “roots of all”: earth, water, air, and fire. All change is explained by the arrangement and rearrangement of these four elements. The various forms of life are caused by an appropriate mixture of elements. Democritus (460 BC) thought that the essential characteristic of life is having a soul (psyche). Like other ancient writers, he was attempting to explain what makes something a living thing. His explanation was that fiery atoms make a soul in exactly the same way atoms and void account for any other thing. He elaborates on fire because of the apparent connection between life and heat, and because fire moves. Plato’s world of eternal and unchanging Forms, imperfectly represented in matter by a divine Artisan, contrasts

sharply with the various mechanistic Weltanschauungen, of which atomism was, by the fourth century at least, the most prominent... This debate persisted throughout the ancient world. Atomistic mechanism got a shot in the arm from Epicurus... while the Stoics adopted a divine teleology... The choice seems simple: either show how a structured, regular world could arise out of undirected processes, or inject intelligence into the system. The Portland Art Museum is the only U.S. venue for Venice: The Golden Age of Art and Music opened on February 15. This stunning exhibition explores the heroic age of art and music in the Republic of Venice, also referred to as La Serenissima or the most serene. Between the early 16th century and the fall of the Venetian Republic at the close of the 18th century, the great flourishing of the arts included innovative painters such as Tintoretto, Tiepolo, Canaletto, and Guardi, as well as composers Willaert, Gabrie l i , Monteverdi, and Vivaldi who created some of the most beautiful music of the era. This spectacular international loan exhibition explores the important interrelationships of the visual arts and music in the city’s elaborate civic ceremonies, festivals, and culture. The fairy tale of Vermont -that it’s all small towns, ice cream, maple syrup and smuggler’s notches -- has stubbornly persisted in the national imagination, even if Ben and Jerry have long since cashed in and moved on. There’s never been enough

concentrated wealth for gross inequality or the massive urban centers that tend to serve as laboratories for crippling social problems. Certainly, vice as it is commonly understood reared its head in the past, most notably during what was essentially a local flirtation with organized crime in the prohibition era when alcohol flowed through resort towns from across the Canadian border. And yet that just contributed to the local lore of the state as a repository for rugged Americana. But after Governor Peter Shumlin’s State of the State address last month, one he took the unusual step of devoting entirely to the local surge in heroin addiction, there was little left to anyone’s imagination. Heroin addiction in Vermont is up 770 percent since 2000, for 4300 cases in 2012. Now the state’s political class is working feverishly not just to deal with the health issues presented by what some are calling an epidemic (Shumlin prefers `crisis’), but also to protect the Vermont brand and buttress a legendary tourism industry, one that brings in over a billion dollars to local breweries, restaurants, and ski lodges every year. The idyllic escape of many a childhood memory has apparently been compromised by the same poison that recently claimed one of America’s great acting talents, and now the question is whether the rural state can cope with a drug epidemic that has overwhelmed once-thriving metropolises like Baltimore. Madahbee was there with Chief Isadore Day of Serpent River First Nation, in northwest Ontario, when they stormed Parliament Hill Dec. 4, 2012 and tried to get into the House of Commons to confront Harper. It was arguably the beginning of the Idle No More movement as the cross-country protest escalated from that day forward. Day says he backs direct action for a national inquiry, however his answer was a little more complex. “I support direct action but think if it’s going to have an impact we must include others in that march,” he said. “Direct action must be done with the inclusion of others relevant to process.” One of the hardest things with machines is to generate sufficient unpredictability, to create good encryption keys or quality simulations. Randomness is hard to come by, for computers. Usually this is done by listening to the supposed outside world, network interrupts, A/D noise, disk seek times, keyboard and mouse input. If you are lucky you’ll get 5-10 high entropy bits per second. And then there are successful attacks by flooding the machine with the input which is known to the attacker and not random at all. The computer then becomes predictable, the simulations take the same sequence, and keys can be guessed. Joint Status Report on behalf of Zalita and several other captives. New forest inventories show that the nation’s forests absorb nearly half of our greenhouse gas pollutants if left undisturbed. Forests are a critical part of the global atmospheric carbon cycle that contribute to climate stabilization by absorbing (sequestering) and storing vast amounts of carbon dioxide in trees (live and dead), soils and understory foliage. As a forest ages, it continues to accumulate and store carbon, functioning as a net carbon “sink” for centuries. Entsuji, the 11th temple on the Izumo 33 Kannon pilgrimage, like the previous temple, Zenjoji, was also a mountaintop temple with great views. Real estate agency, Barbara Smith From 28 February to 25 May 2014 the Kunsthaus Zrich will be showing little-known works on paper by the Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti (19011966). Alberto Giacometti’s extensive repertoire of works on paper is generally known, but the drawings and watercolours held by his brother Bruno (19072012), which were recently bequeathed to the Kunsthaus Zrich, are much less familiar. The approximately 70 pencil and pen drawings, some created using ball-point, coloured crayon and lithographic chalk, as well as six

watercolours and a pastel, have rarely been exhibited and include some genuine revelations. This intimate and informal collection of drawings by Alberto Giacometti underlines the fundamental importance of the medium to his work. Many offer full-service for a higher price, so be sure to check if you are at the full service or the self-service pumps. Gasoline fluctuates between $4-$5 a gallon, averaging about $4.50 for Premium gas. Regular gas is often mixed with kerosene and other cheap liquids, which will eventually ruin your engine. It’s advised to buy the premium at all gas stations, unless you want to deal with blown head gaskets! Hi- Ran the ECAS Agency Lake / Ft. Klamath raptor survey today. Many Rough-legged Hawks in the Ft. Klamath area with the absence of snow. Most seemed to be birds in their first year. Other good birds in the Algoma Rd. area: one RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in some cottonwoods on the south end of the road where it meets 97, a good number of TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRDS along with the other blackbirds and starlings. Believe I heard a YELL OW- H E A DE D BLACKBIRD there but did not search for it (and there are lots of starlings), saw one BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD. I heard what sounded like a MOUNTAIN QUAIL up on the incline above Algoma Rd. about a half a mile south of Hagelstein. At least a dozen ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS in the fields there today. At Wood River Wetlands there were numerous SONG SPARROWS and a few VARIED THRUSH. All the waterfowl were distant in the lake. Raptor totals : Red-tailed Hawk 56 Roughlegged Hawk 39 Northern Harrier 2 American Kestrel 1 Prairie Falcon 1 Bald Eagle 7 Redshouldered Hawk 1 Turkey Vulture 2 ( soaring above the ridge north of Algoma) We’ve been coming to Mexico for a month or two each year for 20 years, and I’ve never experienced this before. We have filled our rental car’s tank 4 times on this trip. Two of those times were at Pemex stations on Highway 307: one of them just south of Playa del Carmen, and the other one just north of Tulum centro. In both cases, the bill was over 500 pesos, so I handed the attendant a 500peso bill and a 100-peso bill. In both cases, they deftly switched the 500-peso note for a 50-peso note, and told me I had made a mistake. The first time it happened, I

was sure that I had given him the right notes, but gave him the benefit of the doubt, and took back the 50 and gave him a(nother) 500. But the more I thought about it afterwards, the more I became convinced that I’d been the victim of a sleight-of-hand trick. I could of weeks later, I hit another Hwy 307 Pemex, and was distracted by some thought, and forgot about the sleightof-hand danger. Sure enough, exactly the same thing happened again, and I know it wasn’t my mistake, because I took the 500 from a pocket that only contained 500’s. There was a local cop nearby, so I didn’t challenge the attendant. With Mexico’s Napoleanic legal code, the attendant only had to tell the cop I was trying to cheat him, and I’d spend the rest of my vacation in jail. The ploy al-

ways seems to start with the attendant being very friendly and curious about your trip. They use these questions to make sure you’re a tourist, and not an ex-pat (who might be able to cause problems for them). The friendliness also makes it harder for us to accuse them of cheating us. I had no such problems in Merida or Cozumel: it seems to be a highway 307 scam. Has anyone else noticed it? Eduardo Manso’s Shentox is a constructed square geometric grown out of the draftsman lettering tradition. The design draws from the rigid yet warm numberplate lettering of Great Britain circa 1960 to the present. Strong and generously spaced, the face has an ability unusual to its genre, that of decent text setting. The family covers seven weights, from quite light to a heavy bold, each with italics. Farming, tourism, poor fishing practices along with misdirected policies are muddying the famous backwaters of Kerala, one of India’s best known holiday destinations. Nowhere is this misuse more visible than in and around the 95-km-long Ve m b a n a d Lake. Bearing the brunt are small fishing communities which are caught between dwindling fish catch, worsening water quality and the usurpation of banks - traditionally used as fish-landing points by tourism operators. The lack of a mix of saline and freshwater, vital to fish breeding, has affected fish species. “Until about eight to 10 years ago, I would collect this amount in just two-three hours,” says fisherman Ashokan, pointing to a mound of black clams in his canoe-like boat. “Now I work the whole day to procure it.” Notice to Appear, Hereby you are notified that you have been scheduled to appear for your hearing that will take place in the court of Virginia Beach in April 07, 2014 at 11:00 am. Invasive species can be very disruptive - cane toads, rabbits, water hyacinth, and zebra mussels are just a few well-known examples of species that have been introduced to areas outside of their original geographic range and have caused extensive ecological disruption in their new

home. One of the hypotheses for why some introduced species become so successful when they arrive at a new region is called the “enemy release hypothesis”. In their new home, introduced species run amok as they are no longer hounded by their usual foes that would otherwise keep their population in check. Tropea, 52, of Newport News, Virginia, was sentenced yesterday to 336 months and a lifetime of supervised release following his convictions on three counts of receipt of child pornography and one count of making a false statement to an agent of the United States. Dana J. Boente, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, FBI Special Agent in Charge Royce E. Curtin, and Richard Myers, Chief of Newport New Police, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Robert Doumar. Tropea pleaded guilty on November 7, 2013. According to court documents, on May 8, 2013, police responded to the Host Inn where Tropea was living after a friend of his had not heard from him in several days. Upon arriving at the hotel, the manager informed them that a surveillance tape showed Tropea leaving the hotel on May 5, 2013, on his bicycle but not returning. Police entered the room to investigate the missing persons report and found numerous phone numbers inside the room. Officers called several people to try and locate Tropea, including his probation officer, whose business card was located in the hotel room. While in the room, officers found a laptop computer as well as a coffee can full of thumb drives. After speaking to the probation officer, police learned that Tropea was on federal supervised release for fraud and possession of child pornography and was barred from having a computer. The search was stopped when they discovered he was in violation of his supervision. FBI agents obtained a search warrant and numerous items were seized, including the computer and thumb drives. Tropea was later located at an area jail. A forensic exam of the computer and thumb drives was conducted and more than 40,000 images of child pornography were found. This case was investigated by FBI and Newport News Police. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa R. McKeel prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
