MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Our six pillars to circular design.
100% MATERIAL HEALTH Right now, we’ve reached the legal 100% material health, but as Brabantia we want to do even better for humans and our environment. At this moment, we have already optimised 98%, but we aim for 100% healthy materials as soon as possible.

100% RENEWABLE ENERGY Making smart energy choices is an ongoing process and we are taking steps to move towards 100% renewable energy in the future. The addition of more solar panels and choosing for suppliers of renewable energy will not only make us more self-sufficient, but more sustainable too.

100% CLEAN WATER Our goal is to have all our wastewater even cleaner than what’s legally required before we put it back into the system, where it can then be processed into drinking water. We’re already doing great with a 99% clean water level. Let’s keep working to make it 100%.

100% WASTE RECYCLED At the moment ca. 93% of our waste is recycled. We’re aiming to recycle all the wood, plastic, metal, water, paper and cotton waste from our production. How? By working on smarter waste separation and collaboration with our suppliers to eliminate waste altogether.

100% RECYCLED / BIOBASED This is one of our most ambitious targets. Many of our plastic parts are already made from post-production recycled material. But we intend to expand this by using more aluminium, bio plastics, FSC wood and good cotton.

100% RECYCLABLE We intend to make all our products 100% recyclable in the future. Designing recyclability into all our products and choosing materials that can be recycled more efficiently is an ongoing effort. The good news is that we are already at 98% recyclable, of which 50% can be used to make new high-quality products. But there is still some work to do to reach the magic 100%.

CRADLE TO CRADLE CERTIFIED®. We believe in a better world. That’s why many of our products are Cradle to Cradle Certified® at Bronze level. They meet strict requirements for the (re)use of materials, renewable energy, water management and social justice.
MATERIAL HEALTH Helps to ensure products are made using chemicals that are as safe as possible for humans and the environment.
MATERIAL RE-UTILISATION Helps to ensure products remain in perpetual cycles of use and reuse from one product use cycle to the next.
CRADLE-TO-CRADLE Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a globally recognised measure of safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy. Product designers, manufacturers and brands around the world rely on this standard as a transformative pathway for designing and making products with a positive impact on people and planet. What’s more, a growing number of brands, organisations and standards also recognize Cradle to Cradle Certified® as a preferred product standard for responsible purchasing decisions. That’s why we closely work together with our partners, our suppliers, retailers, e-tailers and nonprofit organisations to make an impact. A great example is WeForest. Together we have made a huge difference by growing more than 2 million trees across Africa. How? With our rotary dryers and drying racks, we support WeForest in its mission of – ‘restoring forests for a better climate and planet.’ This campaign is supported with sales materials instore and online.
