Growing in Strength, Growing in Success KOLEJ Sunway Kuching is embarking on its next step to expand and move to a new premise and this is targeted to take place in the first quarter of 2012. The expansion will involve relocation to Song Plaza, with floor area twice that of the current premise. Situated at the Jalan Tun Jugah - Jalan Song intersection, it is seen as a strategic location and the upcoming commercial hub of Kuching. The CEO of the college, Mr. Joseph Lim Jit Sek, sees it as a timely opportunity and sensible next step as the current college space has reached its full capacity. The new premise will feature a modern city campus with state of the art facilities. Among others, there will be spacious lecture theatres, computer labs, offices and library as well as a garden top student lounge with 24hour security service. There will also be approximately 300 parking bays available. For the students’ studying pleasure, the Sunway City Campus is fitted with 24hour wireless internet (Wi-Fi) access, so students can study anywhere from the foyer to the RoofTopGarden. Sunway College Kuching will be joining the Borneo Post International Education Fair (BPIEF) on 3 and 4 March 2012 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). The announcement was made by the college’s CEO, Joseph Lim in a press statement released today. world, effective management and relevant support services. Since achieving Platinum Status, Sunway Kuching has successfully sustained it for the last four consecutive examination sittings. In conjunction with the April 2012 intake, Sunway College Kuching will be holding an Open Day on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 8.30am to 5.00pm, to enable prospective students and their parents to learn more about the courses currently on offer at the college. The Open Day will feature career talks, course previews, scholarship and financial aid enquiries and one-to-one career counseling. If you are unable to visit the college on that day, Sunway Kuching will also be organising a Counselling Week from the March 25 to 31, 2012. 2012 SPM school leavers who are interested in applying for scholarships or rebates are advised to visit the college with their forecast results slip as on-the-spot eligibility interviews will be conducted. For the upcoming April 2012 intake, Sunway Kuching is offering full and partial scholarships for deserving students to
study the CAT p r o g r a m m e. The criteria for the scholarships are as follows: ● A student who scores between five (5) to seven (7) ‘As’ will be granted a RM300 rebate. ● A student who obtains between eight (8) to nine (9) ‘As’ will be granted half-scholarship, which amounts to a 50 per cent rebate of their tuition fees. ● Those who attain ten (10) or more ‘As’ will be offered full scholarships, i.e. 100 per cent rebate of their tuition fees. The CAT course is a one-year technician level qualification specially designed by ACCA to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to accountancy. To be eligible to enroll for CAT at Sunway, students must obtain a minimum of 5 credits in SPM, including in English and Mathematics. The LCCI Diploma in Accounting, on the other hand, is a vocational qualification that provides students with the necessary practical skills required by employers globally, such as book-keeping and business calculations. To be eligible to enroll for the LCCI programme at Sunway, students must obtain a minimum of 2 credits in SPM, in English and Mathematics. CAT is recognised by ACCA for entry to its professional accountancy programme.
C A T graduates are exempted from the first stage of ACCA (i.e. Knowledge Module, Papers F1 to F3) and can proceed directly to the second stage (Skills Module), while LCCI Diploma holders will enter ACCA without any exemptions.
