ESMO accreditation to boost PCC credentials

UCHING: Parkway Cancer Centre (PCC), first established its Palliative Care Services, obtained accreditation as an ESMO Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care, a hallmark of quality holistic care. PCC, the first private cancer centre in Singapore to provide palliative care – medical care that focuses on pain management, home care, as well as end-of-life care – ensuring quality of life for patients and minimising suffering. Late last year, PCC was awarded the accreditation as an ESMO Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care. It is the leading European professional organisation committed to advancing the speciality of medical oncology and promoting
a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer treatment and care. “Going through the process allowed us to discover our shortcomings, compelled us to change our mindsets and benchmark ourselves with the best practices in the world. “As an ESMO Centre, we hope patients and the public will have more confidence in the quality of care they will receive in PCC.” Khoo also noted that looking forward, PCC will continue its effort in providing state-of-theart treatment to bring about the best possible outcome for every patient. He added, “We will also continue to expand our support services to help patients cope with their illness better. “One area that we would like to focus on is survivorship, which has become increasingly important as more patients are cured of or are living longer with their cancer.”
