Dustbowl Revival Dustbowl Revival are all about pushing the boundaries of what American roots music can be. The Los Angeles-based group specialises in joyful soul songs and uplifting folk-rock ballads. Recently lead songwriter and singer Z. Lupetin, who’s also a playwright, has been taking them in new directions, mixing in elements of theatre and creating new songs that are lushly orchestrated and cinematic in feel. Piano duo Katia and Marielle Labèque are charismatic interpreters of music in the French tradition. They revel in the beauty of Debussy’s Epigraphes Antiques and the glittering textures of Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye (Mother Goose). Chineke! Orchestra with Sheku Kanneh-Mason The orchestra championing diversity in classical music performs William Dawson’s inspirational African-American Folk Symphony and Brian Nabors’ piece Pulse. They are joined by star cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason in Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto no.2.
The famous brass band plays music from films as well as pop and classical hits. Brighouse and Rastrick Band (or B&R as they are affectionately known) represents a rich tradition of brass band culture in the north of England and have commanded the top echelons of competitive life since they won the British Open Championship in 1932, 33, and 34. The Dome Stage 20 FREE OUTDOOR EVENTS Last year we created the Dome Stage at Snape Maltings in a special outdoor setting by the river as a space to give Suffolk audiences access to brilliant musical performances for free. It went so well that we have decided to bring it back again for a second summer! We’ll be featuring an incredible array of artists and sound worlds. Cellist Ana Carla Maza and her band combine Catalan flamenco and Cuban rhythms, Penguin Café leader Arthur Jeffes brings his new trio Penguini (his take on “little penguins”), British/Bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed joins forces with vibes star Ralph Wyld and stunning South African cellist Abel Selaocoe returns with kora master Seckou Keita. The line up gets even more international, with Syrian qanun player Maya Youssef and her band, Soumik Datta playing sarod, Ukrainian harpist Alina Bzhezhinska leading her HipHarp Quartet, BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year saxophonist Xhosa Cole celebrating Thelonious Monk and so much more. One of the UK’s leading food festivals returns to Snape Maltings with new areas, new producers, and more family entertainment. In the Family Meadow you’ll find children’s cookery classes, ride-on farm machinery, and food-based music workshops. Michael Flint: Maltings to the Sea and Beyond
The music of Jonathan Harvey (1939-2012), defies categorisation. Always reflecting a deep engagement with the metaphysical, he mixed techniques of medieval polyphony with cutting edge electronic sounds and textures to produce his mature style, - an alchemical music of exquisite simplicity and power. Despite being hailed as a hugely important figure in the world of classical music, Harvey’s incandescent works have yet to be discovered by a wider audience. We hope that a new showing of the collaboration 7HEAVENS, on the 10th anniversary of his passing will inspire renewed interest in his life’s work.
Five years after his last triumphant exhibition, Michael Flint returns for his final Snape show, with new etchings, oils and watercolours of the Alde and Ore estuary.

Cycling Take the Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route 41, which leads to Orford in one direction and Wickham Market, via Blaxhall, in the other direction.
River Trips Get the best views of the spectacular River Alde estuary in a one hour boat trip.
Iken walk The stunning walk from Snape Maltings to the 12th-century Church of St Botolph, Iken is approximately 4.5 miles return. Snape Warren walk Discover the landscape and wildlife of the River Alde estuary, as well as the woodland and heathland of Snape Warren (2 miles circular walk). Aldeburgh walk Take the Sailors’ Path to Aldeburgh (12 miles return) to re-trace the path of sailors and smugglers of centuries past. For leaflets, maps and guides, visit the Visitor Centre.
