A Letter from the Executive Director Hello, Bolingbrook Friends! Summer is almost here! We have been making plans to bring a ton of fun in 2021. Sunshine and warmth means laughter on the playgrounds, happy smiling faces in our parks and on our trails, excitement on our sports fields, splashing and fun at Pelican Harbor, great sounds at our concerts, running and playing with the return of Camp Alotta Fun, great golf experiences at Boughton Ridge, fishing and nature fun at Hidden Lakes and Hidden Oaks, health and wellness at Lifestyles Fitness, and programs, programs, programs! The summer of 2021 is just around the corner and we are ready. Bolingbrook Park District is committed to bringing you as many in-person activities as we can, with an important focus on wellness and safety. Our Capital Improvement/Referendum Implementation Plan continues this year. You will see new playgrounds at Plimmer, The Forest, Ivanhoe, Drafke, and Century Parks. Our target is a mid-summer completion. The other major project is a new parking lot and drive at Central Park/Annerino Community Center. The past year has been challenging for all of us. Your Park District stands with you! The board and staff of Bolingbrook Park District very much appreciate your support more than you will ever know. We are excited to return to fun and roll out an awesome plan for summer activities. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Ron Oestreich, Executive Director

Youth & Teen Dance Keep in mind: While the dance department offers classes by session, students should take a class for at least one year or more, until the requirements of the next level have been mastered. Participating in a class for just a session or two may not be a sufficient length of time to adequately prepare the student for the next level of training. Please also keep in mind, while ages have been provided in the brochure’s description of classes to assist in the registration process they do not supersede the recommendation of the teacher. Please stay in a level until the teacher recommends advancement. Do not hesitate to request feedback or evaluation from your teacher.

Three Unique Sites...

One Common Goal...

Create a Learner for Life.

The Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, focus on educating children in a way that makes learning fun. Experienced teachers create a warm, positive educational environment that fosters a child’s natural creativity and curiosity. Children are engaged in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that are aligned with state preschool learning standards. We communicate with kindergarten program administrators in the area to ensure that our curriculum prepares our students for success in elementary school.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS SOON 2B3 PROGRAM

Children 2 ½-3 years old have their first positive experiences in a preschool classroom and become comfortable separating from parents for a regular period of time. Development of social skills, large and small motor skills, and basic curriculum concepts are a part of your child’s day. Diapers and pull-ups are acceptable to begin with, but children should be on his or her way to taking care of their own toileting needs. This class runs 2 days per week.

3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

This program nurtures a 3 year old’s social and emotional growth, and provides a curriculum focusing on letters, numbers, shapes and colors, and the beginning stages of writing. This class runs 2 days per week. Our 3 Year-Old Preschool Plus Spanish program exposes children to both English and Spanish with regards to preschool concepts.

4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

Children will strengthen relationships with friends and teachers and begin to understand responsibility as they become more selfsufficient. The curriculum focuses on emerging literacy, math, science, creative art and fine motor skills to prepare children for Kindergarten. Our 4 Year-Old Preschool Plus Spanish program exposes children to both English and Spanish with regards to preschool concepts.

PRE-K PROGRAM

The Pre-K program is designed for children 4½-5 years old who are ready for additional time in the classroom. This program takes our 4 year old curriculum to the next level with in-depth exposure to pre-literacy, math, self-expression skills and class projects. Bi-monthly field trips, science lab time and cooking are built into the cost of the class. 53

BYBL website: www.bybl.org Chris Tamburrino: president@bybl.org

BYBL offers Baseball for ages 9-28. We offer both competitive In-house leagues, Part time Travel (Sunday League) and Full Time Travel (Rampage). No matter what league or division, our focus Is to develop baseball players. All BYBL home games are played at either Indian Boundary Park or Wipfler Park. Indian Boundary Park provides big game thrills thanks to: • Grass infields • Lighted fields (enabling night games) • Raised mounds • Electronic scoreboards Mustang: 9-10 yr olds Bronco: 11-12 yr olds Pony: 13-14 yr olds Colt: Fresh/Soph Palomino: Junior Senior Collegiate: 19-28 Our Spring Season starts In April and ends early July. Our Fall Season starts In September and ends mid October. For more Info please visit our website. www.bybl.org

BYBL “Rampage” Travel Baseball Tryouts for Rampage Baseball will be in late July and early August. Check www.bybl.org for exact dates. For “Frequently Asked Questions” about our program, go to the “FAQs” link on our Rampage Baseball website: www. bolingbrookrampage.com Contact Jason Stoddard, Travel Director, at rampage@bybl.org for more information. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who is BYBL? BYBL is the local chapter of PONY Baseball, Inc. (Protect Our Nation’s Youth) and a member of the Greater DuPage PONY Baseball Association (GDPBA). PONY believes that rather than change the rules of the game to make it possible for young people to play, it is better to change the size of the playing fields and to adjust them to the potential of the players. For our Pinto and Mustang divisions (youngest players) they are taught fundamentals from the start, in a controlled environment that allows them to learn, while enhancing their skills, and still play real baseball too. What are the advantages of BYBL? Authentic baseball rules right from the start, allowing both wind-up and stretch pitching, lead-offs and base stealing – all skills players will need as they advance. What fundamentals are taught? Coaches work with the kids on how to pitch and catch, the fundamentals of fielding, batting, lead-offs, and stealing. They are taught how to play real baseball. 83

Bolingbrook Athletic Council What gives BYBL a big game feel? Some of our fields are lighted allowing evening games, and some feature raised mounds for a more authentic experience, grass (as opposed to dirt) infields, electronic scoreboards and nearby travel for away games for the older kids in the Spring, which helps build team spirit and prepare players for the future. My child was in Tee-ball/Coach-pitch last year, what next? You’ve come to the right place. Most all of the kids in BYBL started in the tee-ball league and may have played in coach-pitch. Either the Pinto or the Mustang division is where your child would play. Is there a lot of travel involved? No. Most Pinto and Mustang division games are played in Bolingbrook. Bronco through Palomino divisions travel to neighboring communities for away games. Are uniforms included in the registration fees? Yes. All players will receive a complete uniform including pants, socks, jersey and hat. Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony age players receive MLB replica uniform jerseys and caps. Are families required to participate in fundraising during the spring season? Candy sales are offered to help offset some of the registration costs of playing spring baseball and to help keep the cost of playing affordable. One of the main benefits of our sale is that BYBL only asks families to sell candy per family (not sell boxes for each child playing). Families also have the option to buy-out and not sell the candy. BYBL DIVISIONS BYBL Pinto Division: Ages 7 and 8 The Pinto division is intended for 7 and 8 year old players that want to take the next step after playing coach-pitch or tee-ball. Children will begin to learn the whole game of baseball. They will begin to learn how to pitch from the wind-up and stretch, catch, steal bases, play the outfield, hit the cutoff man, defend the steal, acknowledge base signs, and turn the double play. For this age player, the base path is set at 50 ft., and they pitch from 38 ft. The Pinto Division is intended to be an instructional league, but season standings are kept and there is post-season play resulting in a Pinto champion. All players have equivalent playing time, and rules are in place for younger pitchers to allow them opportunity as well. In Pinto, children can expect to play approximately 14-16 games each spring season and all games are completed prior to the 4th of July, leaving family summer vacations intact. Uniforms are provided: MLB replica jersey and cap, pants and socks. All Pinto games are played right here in Bolingbrook. This is an extremely fun age for children’s baseball as they develop and refine baseball skills and learn to “think” the game of baseball. BYBL Mustang Division: Ages 9 and 10 The Mustang division is intended for 9 and 10 year old players that 84

want to take the next step after playing in our Pinto division or Coach-Pitch. Children will enhance what they have already learned in the Pinto Division and integrate it into a more competitive and faster paced environment. The base path is adjusted to 60 ft. for this age player, and they pitch from 44 ft. The Mustang Division is still intended to be an instructional league, but season standings are kept and there is post-season play resulting in a Mustang champion. Similar to our Pinto Division, all players have equivalent playing time, and rules are in place for younger pitchers to allow them opportunity as well. In Mustang, children can expect to play approximately 18-20 games each spring season and all games are completed prior to the 4th of July, leaving family summer vacations intact. Uniforms are provided: MLB replica jersey and cap, pants and socks. All Mustang games are played right here in Bolingbrook. This too, is a fun age for children’s baseball as they continue to develop and refine baseball skills and learn to “think” the game of baseball. BYBL Bronco Division: Ages 11 and 12 The Bronco division is for the 11 and 12 year old child looking to build on their baseball experience. Leadoffs, the sacrifice bunt, and hit and run plays are all a part of the Bronco division. Players also get the chance to play on a larger diamond (70 ft bases) for that big league feel, and pitch from 48 ft. Coaches at this level refine the baseball skills and fundamentals of the players without losing site of the main objective - to have fun. Children can expect to play approximately 18-20 games each spring season. Uniforms are provided: MLB replica jersey and cap, pants, belts and socks. BYBL Pony Division: Ages 13 and 14 The Pony division is for the 13 and 14 year old interested in enjoying a season rich with baseball and healthy competition. The Pony Division is fun and exciting and played the way baseball is meant to be played. This is real baseball. Leadoffs, stealing bases, bunting, hit and run plays, and pick-offs are just some of the nuances of the game at this level. Games are played on the same size fields as middle school at this age (80ft bases), with a 54 ft. mound. Children can expect to play approximately 21-24 games each spring season. Uniforms are provided: MLB replica jersey and cap, pants, belts and socks. Colt Division (Ages 15-16), Palomino Division (Ages 17-19), Collegiate Division (Ages 18-28) Colt, Palomino & Collegiate divisions will play in the SWILA Baseball Association, a competitive league for High School and Collegiate Players, that has teams from Chicago’s SW Suburbs playing 18 spring games (9 home & 9 away), an All-star Game at Silver Cross Field in Joliet and Playoffs leading to the Championship games to be played at Silver Cross Field, home of the Joliet Slammers. All Colt registrants will be drafted to a team. The Palomino Division registrants may or may not be assigned to a team on the discretion of the team(s) Head Coach. Any Palomino or Collegiate registrants who are not assigned to a team would receive a full refund. These divisions will play games from around May 18th thru July 9th. Playoffs and Championships will run thru July 26th. Please see www. swilabaseball.com for more information.
