A Letter from the Executive Director Hello Bolingbrook Friends! Happy 2021! Even though 2020, our 50th Anniversary year, was not what we had hoped for, we still celebrated in our own special way with some wonderful activities, five beautiful new playgrounds, and the completion of the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex renovation project. Throughout this past year, Bolingbrook Park District has kept to our mission of fiscal responsibility through nearly $2 million in expense management efforts when revenues were down. The affected staffing levels, program offerings, events, and some of the Park District services you have come to know and love. We are making every attempt to bring the fun back in 2021! Throughout the entire year, you will see new programs, new services, and revamped events; all with a focus on wellness and safety. Our talented team has an amazing year of fun planned – so get ready! Our capital improvement (referendum implementation) plan will continue in 2021 as well. You will see new playgrounds at Plimmer, The Forest, Ivanhoe, Drafke, and Century Parks. The other major project is a new parking lot and drives at Central Park/Annerino Community Center. We will continue to evolve and meet your programming needs in this ever-changing environment. Whatever your interests are, our team is prepared to provide you with world class service and a wonderful experience you have come to know and enjoy. We appreciate you and your support more than you will ever know. We wish you a warm winter and an early spring. Just remember that it is always warm and welcoming at Bolingbrook Park District!

Sincerely,

Ron Oestreich, Executive Director

Indoor Swim Lessons

FAQ

Will the instructors wear masks in the water? Yes. In an effort to keep our participants safe, our instructors will be wearing cloth face coverings and face shields when teaching. Do participants need to wear a mask during swim lessons? Children may wear a mask upon arrival and departure, but upon entering the pool, we ask that masks not be worn since children will have their faces in and out of the water which is not conducive to wearing a mask. How many people can accompany the child to lessons? When possible, please limit the number of people who accompany your child to lessons to 1 adult and only children who are taking lessons. This will help parents maintain appropriate social distancing. Younger siblings will need to stay with their guardian and remain socially distanced. Are face coverings required? Yes, the State of Illinois requires face coverings for all guests entering the facility. Face coverings are not recommended for persons while swimming or other activities where their face is submerged or immersed by water. Do I have to stay 6 feet apart from everyone? Yes, whenever possible, participants are required to follow social distancing guidelines while at Pelican Harbor Indoor Aquatic Park. Will the indoor locker rooms be available? The newly renovated Indoor aquatic locker rooms and family changing rooms will be available. We do encourage guests to come dressed and ready to swim and keep locker room use to a minimum at this time. How can I sign up for swim lessons? Lessons must be pre-registered online at bolingbrookparks. org or at one of our community centers.

Will my child be paired with participants from a different household? Yes, for semi-private lessons your child may be paired with another swimmer of similar ability. In addition, our babies classes will have a maximum of 5 babies and a parent/ guardian for each. How are you keeping the facility clean? Locker rooms, common areas and equipment will be sanitized after each lesson. Our staff use personal protective equipment when cleaning. Hand sanitizer will be provided at pool deck entry points, exit points and multiple places throughout the facility. Please use the hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the facility. Can you guarantee I will not catch COVID-19? No, we cannot guarantee you will not catch COVID-19, however we are doing the best we can to keep the facility safe for you. What is the check-in procedure? • Enter through Door 15 the Swim Lessons Entrance. Please observe social distancing in the event of a line. Check in can begin 15 minutes before class start time. • Check-in will take place at the Aquatics Front Desk. There all guests will be asked to complete a wellness check. • The indoor locker rooms are available for changing. Youth & Teen Dance Keep in mind: While the dance department offers classes by session, students should take a class for at least one year or more, until the requirements of the next level have been mastered. Participating in a class for just a session or two may not be a sufficient length of time to adequately prepare the student for the next level of training. Please also keep in mind, while ages have been provided in the brochure’s description of classes to assist in the registration process they do not supersede the recommendation of the teacher. Please stay in a level until the teacher recommends advancement. Do not hesitate to request feedback or evaluation from your teacher.

Three Unique Sites... One Common Goal... Create a Learner for Life. The Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, focus on educating children in a way that makes learning fun. Experienced teachers create a warm, positive educational environment that fosters a child’s natural creativity and curiosity. Children are engaged in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that are aligned with state preschool learning standards. We communicate with kindergarten program administrators in the area to ensure that our curriculum prepares our students for success in elementary school.
