A Letter from the Executive Director Greetings Friends! I hope you are all doing well during these unprecedented times. We continue to be grateful for the doctors, nurses, police, fire, Village of Bolingbrook, and of course our own Bolingbrook Park District employees who have all been on the front lines during this COVID-19 period. Our Board of Commissioners and staff want to extend our gratitude and appreciation to you as well. We have heard positive feedback regarding programs and services offered during the quarantine. We appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate through the State of Illinois Restore Illinois Plan. There is no greater joy than to hear laughter in our facilities, on our playgrounds, and people golfing, fishing, and swimming. Bolingbrook Park District has kept to our mission of providing world-class parks and recreation services in a fiscally responsible manner to enhance the community’s quality of life throughout this challenging time. One example of our commitment to fiscal responsibility is through the nearly $2 million reduction in operational and capital in 2020. At the same time, we are progressing forward with our referendum projects at the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex, lazy river island at Pelican Harbor, the pathway connection, and playgrounds. Our team is committed to this mission and the excellence it represents. These times have resulted in some new and creative programming this year. This will continue into the winter. All ages welcome Come to Pelican Harbor Indoor Aquatic park to see Parkie this holiday season! Parkie will be perched in a large gift box for group pictures. Once you have seen Parkie, you can enjoy some time in the pool with our melted snowmen. We will have arts and crafts, holiday decorations, and other fun games and activities! • Limited to 20 people per time slot • Games will be played both in and out of the water • Mask will be required when out of the pool • Masks will not be worn while in the pool (safety hazard) and participants will be socially distanced. • Cleaning will be done between each session Age 0-4 5-9 10 & up

Santa Virtual Visit a Live Video Chat All ages welcome Santa would like to invite your children to have a personal visit with him. Zoom will be used to have an amazing visit with the child(ren) of your choice. Choose one of the available dates listed below. Chasewood Learning

Chasewood Learning is offering a remote learning option instead of in person instruction where your child can learn robotics from home! We utilize Google Classroom and scheduled online classes to teach your child robotics. In order to support the need for a robot, Chasewood is offering a free loaner classroom robot that will be arrange for you to pick up. We will work with parents on scheduling classes during the week.

LEGO ROBOTICS ACADEMY: REMOTE LEARNING

Ages 6-14 years The LEGO Robotics Academy is a comprehensive, repeatable after school program where children learn to design, build, and program robots. Using a creative educational approach that supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), this class is led by teacher-led instruction followed by fun, engaging and dynamic activities. The Robotics Academy is a repeatable program where children are placed based on skill and experience. Ages 6 months-3 years with adult Parkie’s Babies swim program consists of 5 progressive levels that begin with you and your child gaining comfort in the water, your child learning to hold their breath under water, swimming to the wall for safety, and progressing to swimming on their own. The last level serves as a transition for the swimmer to move from swimming with a caregiver present to a class setting with only the instructor in order to prepare for Parkie’s Swim School. PARKIES SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM SCHOOL

Ages 3-14 years These lessons place an emphasis on safety and basic water skills for the beginning swimmer. Through the 5 color levels of Swim School, swimmers gain confidence in the water, learn to swim and float with and without assistance and end with the building blocks for freestyle. Ages 3-14 years Stroke School’s focus is on technical swim strokes. Swimmers progress through 5 levels based on skill level learning and perfecting skills of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. Safety skills are also emphasized. Ages 7 years & up Jazz dance utilizes the technique of ballet with a stylized and contemporary approach. Dance fundamentals are developed and mastered in the Jazz I class, and these basic techniques are applied to more difficult work and combinations in higher levels, accordingly. The prerequisite for Jazz 1 is Intro to Jazz. Advancement to higher levels of training will require teacher recommendation and are based upon the mastering the skills necessary to advance.

Ages 7 years & up Ballet and jazz come to life in this expressive style. Lyrical is diverse, ranging from fluent, balletic movements to stylized jazz. If you have never taken dance before please register for the level I. The level II Lyrical requires at least one year of Ballet and/or Jazz. Founded in 2000, the company studies, trains and performs all styles of dance. They are known for their award-winning choreography and signature style, performing regularly for different Chicagoland venues. The DanceForce dance company is made up of two teams within each level, the Premiere Performance Team and the Select Competition Team. All skills are taught in a fun, safe atmosphere with clear instruction blended with our positive motivation and praise method. We incorporate strength, flexibility, coordination and above all, confidence built into every lesson. The gymnastics staff also teaches discipline and social skills. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a great opportunity for your child to learn to take direction from an adult other than their parent. Your child will grow in body and mind and burn plenty of energy!

DEVELOPMENTAL GYMNASTICS

Ages 6-13 years Learn skills on vault, uneven bars, beam and floor in a safe and controlled atmosphere. Children will spend a small portion of class time conditioning and strengthening the appropriate muscles to help improve their gymnastics. Please note: • Children who are new to gymnastics should enroll in a Developmental I class. • Students who have taken gymnastics should enroll in the class level instructed by their coach. • Pre-developmental is designed for 5-year-olds who are in school all day. • Suggested gymnastics attire • Gymnasts that are signed up for Dev. III or higher are required to wear a leotard or biketard for their safety due to the skill level. • Please wear a leotard or comfortable pants/shorts. • No jean, jean shorts, or any other type of clothing with buttons or buckles which could be harmful to your child or the equipment. • We require long hair to be tied back and out of face. • No shoes, earrings, bracelets or necklaces are allowed. • Socks are optional, but not recommended for medium/high beam. These teams will follow routines and progressions for vault, uneven bars, beam and floor created by USAG. Archery

Learn the basics of the sport of archery or refine your skill. We have classes for all levels. We have USA Archery Certified instructors teaching this class and participants will learn on universal compound bows. Criteria listed below must be met before participant can move up to the next level. This is determined by the instructor. All new participants must start at the beginner level. Beginner - Demonstrate knowledge of range and equipment safety. Be able to nock arrow indicator fletching out, extend bow arm and hold bow vertical for 10 seconds, and draw to correct anchor without external help. Intermediate - Demonstrate and be able to explain aspects of range and equipment safety to the instructor. Be able to hit the target consistently and be able to determine based on where arrows hit how their aim needs to change and how to change it.

The Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, focus on educating children in a way that makes learning fun. Children 2 ½-3 years old have their first positive experiences in a preschool classroom and become comfortable separating from parents for a regular period of time. Development of social skills, large and small motor skills, and basic curriculum concepts are a part of your child’s day. Diapers and pull-ups are acceptable to begin with, but children should be on his or her way to taking care of their own toileting needs. This class runs 2 days per week.

3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

This program nurtures a 3 year old’s social and emotional growth, and provides a curriculum focusing on letters, numbers, shapes and colors, and the beginning stages of writing. This class runs 2 days per week. Our 3 Year-Old Preschool Plus Spanish program exposes children to both English and Spanish preschool concepts. Looking for a 3 day per week program?

4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

Children will strengthen relationships with friends and teachers and begin to understand responsibility as they become more selfsufficient. The curriculum focuses on emerging literacy, math, science, creative art and fine motor skills to prepare children for Kindergarten. Our 4-Year-Old Plus Spanish class exposes children to both English and Spanish with regards to preschool concepts.

PRE-K PROGRAM

The Pre-K program is designed for children 4½-5 years old who are ready for additional time in the classroom. This program takes our 4 year old curriculum to the next level with in-depth exposure to pre-literacy, math, self-expression skills and class projects. CAMP ALOTTA FUN - WINTER CAMP

Kindergarten through 8th Grade Camp Alotta Fun will provide campers with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of fun and exciting activities such as arts and crafts, games, sports and music. Campers will be placed in groups each day with others as close in age as possible with no more than 15 campers in a designated room. The camper to counselor ratio is a maximum of 8 to 1. Daily registration is required. Campers must be in Kindergarten-8th grade. Sign-up early, space is limited to the first 60 registered. Once your child is registered for winter camp, an email will be sent requesting that you complete needed emergency forms via e-Pact for your camper. Covid-19 guidelines will be communicated through e-Pact once you have registered. Information provided on our child will be done through e-Pact. Upon registering for camp, you will receive an email invitation to fill out forms online. These forms provide us with vital information that allows us to keep your child safe and how to contact you. Ages 11-17 years Duties will vary based on the product, but it typically includes assembling boxes, evaluating, sorting, labeling, and boxing product for distribution to the community. Volunteers assist with evaluating, sorting, labeling, and packing items such as canned foods, toiletries, cereal, produce, etc. With this help, we are able to distribute the product to our network partners. Close-toed shoes are required. Long shorts or pants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt are recommended. Bolingbrook Crime Stoppers has been serving the community since 2006. In those years over 437 tips have been received as citizens have anonymously gotten involved in reducing crime in the Bolingbrook community. You can make Bolingbrook a better place to live by offering anonymous tips about crimes of which you are aware. Rewards of up to $1000 are given to anonymous tipsters, when arrests are made. If you have knowledge of a crime, please report it by calling or texting.

PARK PERMITS

Reserve your picnic area for your next social gathering by obtaining a park permit. When you obtain a permit we take extra care to make sure the area you reserved is clean and orderly. If another group is in your spot, by authority of the permit, they must relinquish the site to you. Permits are required for groups of 15 or more. Sites are based on size and or the amenities of the park. We will continue to have a $50 refundable security deposit for all park permits. This is in addition to the fees listed for the parks below. Event Permit - $100 plus regular fee Necessary if having more than 150 people and/or any of the following: 5K, petting zoo, pony rides, dumpster, bleachers, dunk tank, port-o-let, large tents (any tent that is not a “pop-up”) Premier Parks - those having some or all of the following: flush toilets, shelters, playground, parking.
