High school: Played running back at Cedarcrest High School and helped team to the Washington 2A playoffs ... was a first-team all-Cascade Conference running back and earned honorable mention recognition as a defensive end as a senior ... carried the ball 137 times for 1,367 yards for an average of 10 yards per carry ... scored 19 rushing touchdowns ... as a senior was recognized twice by the Seattle Times as the Player of the Week and twice as a Difference Maker ... he was an all-state nominee as a senior and a second-team all-area choice by the Everett Herald ... was an honorable mention all-conference defensive lineman as a junior as well ... also played baseball and had a .483 batting average and a .586 slugging percentage as a junior. ashley joined the Vandals in January as a grayshirt.

As a junior, Lashley had 54 tackles and three sacks. The following summer, he had a stellar showing at the St. Louis Elite Football Combine where he had the most reps in the 225 bench press with 17, and was noted for his 40 time and agility, which elicited this comment: “A solid combination of speed and strength.” He was a National Underclassmen Five-Star Central MVP.
