GAME SUMMARY The No. 7 Boston College men’s hockey team honored its legendary coach in electric fashion, exploding for a 9-2 victory over second-ranked Wisconsin on Jerry York Night. Fifteen different skaters scored a point, including junior Johnny Gaudreau’s second-straight three-point performance (12-3) to crack the 100-point plateau for his career. Rookie Austin Cangelosi registered his first two career goals and added an assist while classmate Adam Gilmour turned in a playmaker with three helpers on the night. Junior goaltender Brian Billett earned his first win of the season via 14 saves through two and a half periods before classmate Brad Barone cleaned up the remaining 9:05 with five stops.

Freshmen Ryan Fitzgerald, Chris Calnan and Steve Santini all netted their first tallies while Kevin Hayes (1-2-3) and Bill Arnold (1-2-3) and Johnny Gaudreau (1-2-3) led the way with three points apiece. BC’s special teams was perfect in victory, scoring on both man-advantage chances while stopping all seven RPI power plays. Firstyear goaltender Thatcher Demko earned his first-career victory, steering away 25-of-27 RPI attempts. It was the most goals scored by BC at home since Feb. 18, 2011.

GAME SUMMARY First-year defenseman Ian McCoshen scored his first collegiate goal in No. 4 Boston College’s season opener, but the Eagles were overpowered by No. 11/10 Michigan’s power play unit in a 3-1 loss on Friday night at Yost Ice Arena. Junior forward Johnny Gaudreau inched to within four points of the 100-career mark (42-5496) with the set-up play on McCoshen’s tally while third-year defenseman Danny Linell collected his first point of the year on the secondary assist. Junior goaltender earned the start in BC’s season opener, turning aside 29-of-32 shots in a strong effort. The Wolverines outshot Boston College, 32-21.

GAME SUMMARY An explosive, offensive first period followed by electric play on both sides down the stretch yielded a 3-3 stalemate in No. 5 Boston College’s first of two contests at No. 1 Minnesota. The contest concluded in a shootout in which Patrick Brown buried the winner in sudden death overtime. Despite BC’s victory in the shootout, the overall result still ends in a tie for both clubs. Michael Sit made a mark in his return home, scoring his first multi-goal game in quick fashion. The Edina, Minn., native recorded a pair of goals in a matter of 11 seconds to put the Eagles ahead midway through the first stanza. Johnny Gaudreau continued his scoring ways, registering his second power play goal of the season.
