Page 1

Welcome from Pugh Farms

On behalf of everyone at Pugh Farms we want to thank you all for the interest in this sale.We have put together a set of cattle for this inaugural event that are representative of our current breeding plans. The bull calves are the real world kind designed for cattleman, the fancy show heifer is one of the best we’ve produced, the flush is of special interest as it is the first flush offered on one of the cornerstones of our black group and the semen on Loose Change is the only semen that will be offered this fall. We have and will continue to breed cattle that work on the conditions that our land and climate sets. These cattle are the type that excel in the traits that are production orientated. We select heavily for feet and udders on all breeds that we raise and have assembled a cowherd that is indicative of these traits. These cattle sell with our personal guarantee and we will have them examined for reproductive soundness when they are mature enough to do so.This is a unique set of cattle genetically with many outcrosses that have a lot to offer their respective breeds. We are fortunate to have met and done business with so many great producers over the years and in putting this sale together fully online we are offering another way to purchase stock from us with the same guarantees and service as our private treaty sales. If you have any questions about the offering or the sale process feel free to contact us or any of the sale staff anytime. Thanks again for your support and we look forward to working with you in the future.

How to Bid? PUGH FARMS ONLINE PRODUCTION SALE DATES AND TIMES The auction has been set to run from 9:00 a.m. MST on Sunday, December 2, 2012 with the Internet close out to start with the first lot at 7:00 p.m. MST Thursday, December 6th. We will then proceed to sell each lot using either a 30 or 45 second bidding clock until all lots are sold. Meaning once the pre announced time has expired without a bid that heifer will be considered sold to the last highest bidder. A sale order will be posted 9:00 Thursday morning. If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. Be sure to register early to allow the necessary time to be put in to the system. HOW TO PARTICIPATE · In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. · To do this, go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select Pugh Farms Online Production Sale. · After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number” which is located right under your name in the top right hand corner. · This form requires you to fill out your banks name, city, state, phone number and a contact. · You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous. HOW THE AUCTION WORKS · Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid.You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID. · There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”. · No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public. · Each time you login, the auction screen will display your personal bidding information.Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. · Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy bid settings(as applicable). WHAT IS A PROXY BID? With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid. The final close out bidding process: After each sale we receive a few calls after the sale from breeders who were interested in bidding on a heifer but failed to watch the bidding clock and let the bidding time expire. When the bidding starts, the bidding clock will run for a pre announced time (usually 30 or 45 seconds or until there is a bid at which time the clock will rewind to its original 30 or 45 seconds. (Whatever time used will be preannounced). For example: if the bidding clock gets down to 1 second remaining then a higher bid is submitted, the clock will then restart. This rewind process will continue with each bid received until the allotted time elapses without a bid. Then the lot will be considered sold. So if you are interested in a particular heifer be sure to submit your bid while there is still time on the clock. This is where using the proxy bid can come in handy insuring you do not miss a bid! LiveAuctions staff will be happy to answer your questions. Jill Mader: (403) 990-9187 Brad Fahrmeier: (816) 392-9241

This guy is the type that we admire for his power. His mother is a top notch black Fat Tony two year old who we are very high on. He is sired by the outcross bull and 2009 National Western Champion Lightning. Zeus is a one of a kind in many ways including his stellar EPD profile and his unique genetics as he is the only one of his kind in existence. He is smooth made with ample bone and a depth of side that runs back to a powerful quarter. If you are looking for something unique and diverse Zeus is the herd bull for you. As an added bonus he will be entered for Denver 2013.

Al Pacino has been a pen favorite here since birth. He is very complete in his structure and profile. Many visitors have noted him for his rounded muscle deep through his quarter and his herd bull look and stride that is very up headed and proud.Typical of the Fat Tony’s In the sense that he is smooth and clean enough to work in the heifer pen but also powerful enough made to excel in his work on the cow herd. He is unique pedigreed going back to the Pathy cow family and having the black influence of Stockman 365. His mother excelled in the show ring being Agribition Heifer calf champion but her true strength is coming out in the progeny she has mothered to date with Al being right at the top of the bull calves. He will also be entered in Denver.

Sammy Hagar is the first red son out of our cow makerVoodoo. Like his sire he is laying down a deep thick hip running down into his hock. He is very balanced and stands on a square foot and leg set. One of the most interesting things about him beyond his completeness in his skeleton is that he is out of two black parents and is the only one of his kind. Sammy is the closest in type to his sire at this age in his development and we look forward to seeing how he develops as time progresses.

The secondVoodoo in the sale this guy being black. He comes from one of our most eye appealing black cows in 217T. She is the type that we admire for her broodiness and excellent udder quality. She is the type of female that keeps bringing in the cattleman kind of bulls and she has put her all into this one once again. We admire this herdsire for his depth of side and deep full quarter but one big trait that will shine through with him will be his ability to sire females that will excel in the herd.

The youngest bull in the offering but gives up nothing to the older guys in terms of shape and pattern at his stage in development. He is off a leading edge two year old daughter of Fat Tony who put her all into this guy. She is an angular female with a very strong udder having the teat placement and fore udder we strive for. We have always admired him for his smooth extended front end and dominant stride on the profile. He is the deep sided kind who is powerful muscled from the top of his hooks down to his clean pastern. He will be entered in Denver.

Mating 86P to Rito 9969 has produced a herdsire we feel really is special in Rango. The maternal merit of his mother shines through in two previous herdsires that have made a lasting impact on our program in Stompin Tom 86S andVoodoo 86U. Udder structure is a true strength in the family as we have many daughters milking out of these herdsires and also a powerhouse maternal sister in 217T. On the sire side Rito 9969 needs no introduction as he was not only the sire of the recent high sellers at the Schaff AngusValley bull sale this spring but he also sired the highest averaging sire group at the record setting sale. Rango offers a lot to the industry. He has a powerful set of Epd’s and an eye appealing smooth structure that exemplifies his poweful hip and his long length of spine. If your looking to be on the ground floor of a different pedigreed one with proven genetics he is the bull for you.

Penelope like her name sake is one eye catching female. Staying true to the Fat Tony type she is very angular made with ample chest floor and a clean and smooth neck and front end. She is very wedge shaped being wide based in her pin structure and explosive through her rib shape giving her as much barrel as you could ask for.We see a very bright future as her mother has been a matriarch here for a long time and has been admired by many visitors for her doability in type and having an udder that would rival many females half her age for quality. We plan to show Penelope for years to come and look forward to showcasing her with our new partner. She will be shown all fall and entered in Denver. Selling 50% interest possession negotiable after time of purchase and show career.

This cow has done a lot for our program in terms of genetic advancement. We have used two herdsires out of her two date and will be using her 2012 calf also. Her first son has produced a set of cows that are the producing kind with udder structure and functionality to burn. Check our website to see a cross section of them. Her second son Voodoo keeps siring the heavily sought after bulls in our pen each year and he is putting together a set of females at our place that will be the next chapter in our herd. She has been shown successfully over the years with different calves at side. She has averaged to date $7500 on all her sons and considering we have sold them all through private treaty sales to some of the top commercial places in the country that is no small feat. She is well rounded in her EPD profile especially excelling in the production categories. We have wanted to flush her for a few years now and with this being our inaugural online sale now is the time.We are offering one flush where we will split with the buyer after six eggs. The buyer will be responsible for the flush costs up till six and we will split cost after. Flush to take place after calving 2013.

Loose Change was first noticed by us in the yards in Denver this year in the Fawcett string where he was the lead off polled bull in their powerful group. He is sired by the well known Currency who is making the type that are full of eye appeal and power. Loose Change was shown successfully this summer at the World Hereford Conference where he was selected as the Reserve Junior Yearling Bull in a strong division. He was used extensively in our heifer pen this spring and bred very efficiently. We are planning a big future for him here as he is the moderate birth type with explosive growth to weaning. If you are looking for a bull to use with calving ease and a well rounded EPD profile who is the type that will add pounds and eye appeal he will fit the bill.
