It is times like this that make you sit back and review the paths you have taken over the course of your life. Though mine is not coming to an end.. hopefully, I could say and feel that I have lived a very full life to date and cattle have always been a very big part of it and contributed to the fulfillment. In fact on the Davidson Family farm where I grew up and where the cattle are to this day, 2015 will mark the 129th year that a Davidson family member has farmed it, and livestock have roamed it. We are proud of the fact that we have been able to carry on that tradition to this day. I can also say my dad, Ralph Davidson, has lived on the family farm for more than half of those 129 years, and so it has come a time that he looks at something other than a cow’s ass on a cold January night (this is according to my mom..). I am a business first kind of guy and always try to keep emotion out of it but when it comes down to letting go of the cattle it is hard not to be emotional. I think it goes without saying that if you raise cattle and specifically cow/calf operations you have to love them to do it. We have loved being a part of the seed stock side of the cattle business in the last 10 years for as much as the challenges it presents as the rewards it creates on its very detailed approach to raising and advancing a breed or the cattle business as a whole. I was told once, many moons ago by a wise man, that, ``If you are going to do something, do it well!``. With our seed stock business we committed and invested heavily in this philosophy and insured ourselves we could always work harder, be smarter and be better at what we did year in year out. As you review our complete offering of our females, you will find reference sires like Spring Creek Liner 104S, Spring Creek Liner 56U, Spring Creek Black Tank 47U, Hart All In, Harvie Wallbanger and Spring Creek Lotto. Not only have these sires allowed us to market bulls successfully, they have allowed us to build a tremendous female base, as they have all contributed to making outstanding daughters. You will see we have catalogued the females by cow families and have had the strong belief if you could find a cow or cow family that worked, replicate her as quickly as you can. Flushing and embryo transfer has been a huge part of our program in recent years and contributed immensely to the uniformity and quality of our herd. You will find many full and half sisters on offer. 93% of the offering is six years old and younger with 83% four years old and younger. The genetics are very fresh and right for the times and the service sires are as leading edge as you will find with the likes of Spring Creek Gold Standard, Maxwell Royal Red, Westway Absolute, Spring Creek Olympian, Harvie Wallbanger and TNT Bootlegger to name a few. We are offering 26 pregnant recips carrying what we believe to be the future of our program with the ability to advance the breed incorporating today`s hottest sires as well as a select few embryos from previous flushes to top cows. All females are identified for coat color and polled and has been a part of our approach for our commercial customers for many years on the bull sale side of things. A.I. breeding dates and pasture exposures are to the best of our abilities and our vet`s opinion. The BlackSand Complete Dispersal Sale will close an important chapter in the Davidson’s lives. Gold Standard will have left his impact on the industry when we look back a few years from now. What drew us to this bull was his early masculinity and rapid growth which should hold true for his bull calves and a high level of fertility for his female offspring. He looked as much like a mature bull at one year of age as any that we had seen before, other than is paternal brother in Olympian. He ran in two herds this summer, ours and K-5 Ranch, servicing over 50 cows and ran pastures from May 1st to October 15th. Put on a blind fold and I will spin you around. Point your finger at any of these full sisters and you will end up with a flush cow. Only difference with 51A and her two sisters was they were born in the barn and she was born outside.. The year we purchased Lotto with Labatte Simmentals we were also able to secure a flush on Lotto’s mom. We were just coming off one of the hottest sire group offerings we had sold with the Wallbanger calves and thought what better way to take this flush. The Bandwagon half bloods have been highly marketable for us and 4A would be no exception in her makeup and quality. I wished we had kept more of our half blood heifers over the years as they are ideal cows. For years we have bred our top replacement heifers to angus bulls. There are two linages to be found in most of my pedigrees, Neva 930L and Linedrive. It could be argued that Linedrive has been the most prolific female producer in recent history in the Simmetal breed and Neva being dominate in producing sires that have left their mark in Black Tank 63P and 56U. We liked the combination to 104S the first go around in 8Z and our goal was to produce another female. This may be one of those more dynamic offerings this fall. NUG Pashmenia 403P has been one of if not the top producing cow in raising herd bulls at Labatte’s. Every year they have always come to the top regardless of mating. It would be safe to say the bull calves sold off of 403P will have averaged around $20,000. We purchased 73T last fall from the Spring Creek 40th Aniversary sale basis her ability to produce powerful offspring. Her bull calves have been well recieved and most notibly MBJ 155Y working at Crossroad Farms who is the sire of Olympian, Gold Standard and Black Bolt. She is a bigger cow that is still very complete in her makeup. We have a full brother to MBJ 155Y in our bull pen this fall that will find his way to the top next spring. We flushed her to F1B1 Combustible this spring and very excited for the new owners on these pregnant recips. There could be something very special there for the cattle business. The Mind Games cross should work very well on this cow. She has a blind front quarter, but otherwise perfect udder.

This will be a soggy made powerful red daughter of Lotto. She has been a standout all year and continues to showcase in a very strong pen of heifers. This very well could be one of the very best heifer calves we have raised on our farm. Not too early to call her flush material
