Do You Really Love Yourself?

Jack Canfield, psychologist and author tells a poignant story about loving oneself. He said he would stand in front of a mirror in the evening and tell himself all the positive things he did that day to increase his self-esteem and better love himself. He might say, “I’m proud of you for helping a certain person,” or “I like how you told your son you loved him,” etc. He would always end the session by saying, “…and Jack, I really love you.”

After doing this exercise for a few months, he stated that one day he felt the same toward himself as he did when he had a crush on a young lady in high school. He felt uncomfortable about having this feeling, and he told his wife, who was also a therapist, about it. She said, “Jack, that’s how you’re supposed to feel about yourself. You’re supposed to love yourself that much.” Do you love yourself that much? How important is it to love yourself?

There is a statement in the New Testament which is attributed to Jesus Christ. It reads

“Love Your Neighbor As Yourself.” Implied in this statement is that we must love ourselves. Imagine what your life would be like if you really did love yourself. If you loved yourself, you would never hurt yourself. You would not take drugs, indulge in alcohol, smoke, overeat, etc. You would not judge yourself too harshly if you made a mistake, and you would stop criticizing yourself. Imagine how confident you would be if you felt that kind of love for yourself. In addition, you would more likely forgive others for any hurts they inflicted upon you. Forgiving

others helps you more than the other person. There is the famous line about not forgiving: you are drinking the poison and hoping the other person will die. If you loved yourself, you would be able to forgive others.

So many problems in life come from people believing they are not good enough. This would not be an issue if you truly loved yourself. You would know, without a doubt, that you are worthwhile and valuable. But, it is not always easy to love yourself. All of us received a lot of negative messages while we were growing up. Unfortunately, these messages are now part of our subconscious beliefs; even worse, we are usually unaware of them. Getting in touch with these subconscious beliefs and then eliminating them can be a great help in getting you to love yourself.

The famous psychologist and motivational speaker Wayne Dyer said to his daughter and others, “Don’t die with your music still in you.” Are you living the life you were born to live?

If you are not living the life you truly want, perhaps you need to love yourself more.

Animal Magic

It’s 5:00 am, and I hear a bark.

My eyes don’t want to open, “not now,” I think. “Just a few more minutes of deep sleep .”And then another bark. It’s Mandy, my new puppy, excited about starting her day!

The world of animals can teach us so many things! In the book “Animal Speak” Ted Andrews shares how animals help us learn about our own lives and teach us about Spirit and Nature. Many cultures believe we have “animal guides or “animal totems” that lead and direct us on a spiritual level. Many believe that crows call them to awaken, and hawks watch over them when they travel. Whatever your animal experience has been, mine has been profound.

At an early age, I received unconditional love from “Pixie .”Pixie was a stray cat that would sit by me for hours and purr. At this early age, I sensed an ability to communicate with animals. I felt a connection, freedom, love, and joy all at once. I was inducted into the “animal world .”As I started to develop my psychic abilities, I would receive my messages in the form of an animal. They would “speak” or symbolize what I was supposed to learn at that moment in my

companionship.

Dolphin: Take time for the outside and breathe, play and explore.

Moose: When moose comes into your life, it is time to be open to exploring new things within your world.

Owl: It’s time to be silent and observe.

Swans: Take time to explore the beauty of this world

Rat: It is time to become more adaptable to your environment.

Wolf: It’s time to find a new path or new journey.

As we enjoy nature this summer, take time to listen and receive from the animal world. Receive the “animal magic” in your life. Be open to your spirit animal and find the animal medicine your animal wants to bring to you. Learn to hear what nature has to say to you. Experience it firsthand by taking walks and being outdoors. Pay attention to the sounds, the calls, and the chatter. Please pay attention to what stands out and what it feels like. Allow yourself time to be “present .”Let your animal totems speak to you.

CHOOSING TO FOCUS ON LOVE

There’s a place where the news is always good, where there’s harmony, peace, unconditional love, and compassion. That place, for me, exists right here and right now. It’s the place of prayerful communion with my Creator, where, instead of focusing on the news, worries, and drama, I close my eyes, breathe, and pray from my heart. In that moment, I’ve given my free will permission for God/ Universe to help me. I literally feel my burdens being lifted! My mind receives solutions instead of problems.

It wasn’t only domestic animals; sometimes squirrels, rats, and even ants spoke to me.

Lower energy loves to distract me with worries and anger, anything to pull me from my path. Sunshine, fresh breezes, and natural sounds can melt those cramps if we make the time for it.

Inside each of us is a child. Have you loved and played with yours lately? Let the child out and reclaim your awe of life. Be awed by the alert posture of a deer as she protects her fawn.

Two Sides to Every Coin

We’re all familiar with the question, “Is the glass half-full or half-empty?” And, as you move through life, it somehow seems easier to focus on what’s wrong in the world rather than what’s right and good. Before taking responsibility for this, you should know it’s not your fault. We’re all sponges that absorb everything we see, hear, and experience from the moment our souls enter the body (and if you’re open to past lives, even before that). And you have been programmed, very successfully, to place your attention on negative events. You anticipate negative outcomes from the news, social media, and many people surrounding you daily.

But, here’s the really good news. In the same way you are programmed to see things one way, you can be programmed to see them in a whole new light. And, once you’ve trained yourself to do this, it becomes your default way of being.

It begins by observing how you frame things within your mind - becoming aware of your thoughts. I call this “policing your thoughts.” Ask anyone who’s come to me for guidance sessions, and they’ll tell you that this is my biggest “thing.” As a Hypnotherapist, I realize that repetitive thought patterns create belief systems that drive how you react to every aspect of your life and yourself. Purposely changing your thoughts so that they’re focused on goodness will not only create joy at that moment but will create new neural pathways in the brain to support that way of thinking into the future. Then, each time you flip a negative thought to a positive one, that pathway will become stronger and stronger. After a while, your thought energy will naturally choose the new path that supports goodness, and everything in your life will begin to transform positively.

After you’ve taken some accountability for your thoughts, look at your environment. How can you begin to remove some things that are programming you negatively? The news and social media are obvious ones to target, but there are many more sources to consider. It can range from people constantly focused on materialism to those living in a continual state of fear or lack. Even if you think you’re strong enough to be exposed to those people & situations without being affected, keep in mind that, even when the conscious mind is asleep or focused on something else, the subconscious mind is always awake, alert, and recording EVERYTHING that is happening. This subliminal programming is equally powerful and can undermine your efforts to remain in a high-vibrational, positive

state of mind. By setting healthy boundaries, policing your thoughts, and taking responsibility for your environment, you can transform your life and begin to see the good in every person, situation, and life event.

Does this all sound too good to be true? Well, for once, I can tell you that it REALLY IS THAT EASY. In the beginning, it can feel like a chore - constantly monitoring your thoughts. But, like paving a path in the snow, it becomes much easier to traverse after you’ve traveled that way several times. Before you know it, you’ll be the one that everyone gravitates to in the room due to your joyful, positive outlook.

Coming Home…

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes it’s priceless. This photo of a sleeping Lion with his Lioness stills my mind and opens my heart. It’s like a sweet moment in time where they are being held in a space of complete peace, and pure love.

Within each of us is a deep desire to find a true love, like the love we felt in our mother’s womb. And with true love we can let our guard down, stop hiding our fears, pour out our troubles, and forgive our shortcomings.

You might think you need a partner, lover or friend to experience this but really you can be that friend to yourself too, all you have to do is let go of everything that is not love and be and love YOU!

Signs and Synchronicity: Finding Everyday Magic and Messages in the Present

I love to walk. I regularly traverse a loop through my neighborhood, not only for exercise but for the time and space it provides to detach from routines and technology and connect with what is around me. It is often meditative. On one recent walk, I felt preoccupied with opportunities, new directions, potential relocations, and new partnerships. I struggled with whether these align with my life’s purpose. As I walked, I noticed a glint on the pavement. After nearly stepping on it, I bent over and picked it up. It was a shiny gold coin—which read, “together we do Spirit’sSpirit’s work.” There was my answer: I knew immediately it meant that this new direction, new connection, was a go!

Signs and synchronicities are around us all the time. We don’t even have to ask! Spirit presents the guidance, often in multiple ways, to nudge us in new directions, affirm we are in alignment or remind us we are never alone! They come as anything that catches our attention — a cardinal landing on the branch just outside our window; seeing 3:33 on the clock, phone, and license plates; song lyrics that stand out; overhearing a passing comment from a total stranger.

But if these signs are all around us, why do we often think, “I just need some kind of sign” or “Please, just give me a sign”? We do not recognize them! We may not understand the language, are so busy that we do not see what is right in front of us, or we’ve asked for a sign and missed it because it came in a different form than we expected. Sometimes, we notice something that stands out but wonder, “Was that a sign?” (Hint: Yes! It is!)

Recognizing signs can bring peace and comfort. One student of mine struggled with the loss of a loved one. Her sibling experienced dream visits, but she had not. She felt disconnected and rejected. Upon learning about different ways signs come to us, she realized that her loved one had been around her the whole time! One such sign was that her loved one’s favorite bird had been visiting the patio nearly daily and even showed up on her windowsill sometimes. It was so

comforting that she was excited to look for more and engage intentionally through the signs.

Most of the signs I receive are not shiny gold coins that tell me I’m on the right path (though I love those magical moments). I learned a few reliable methods that helped me open and receive regular guidance and insight. I share these and more in my classes and coaching work and receive positive feedback about their effectiveness. Hopefully, they will benefit you too!

One method is the practice of becoming present. At first, I set reminders on my phone to go off throughout the day. When they did, I would take a moment to shift my focus, be present, and observe everything happening around me. I performed a quick check-in with all my senses and my gut. Sometimes, I only had a minute; other times, several minutes—either way, it worked. After a while, it became a habit, and that is when I noticed my ability to stay present, almost like some part of my awareness was keeping tabs on things and alerting me to unusual occurrences, patterns, and coincidences. Now, when I have times when I feel disconnected, I return to practicing these regular breaks throughout my day.

It is reassuring to get a sign and feel that connection and flow. Getting a message or guidance that provides clarity and direction is exciting. Learning to engage can bolster your receptivity and help life flow more smoothly, not to mention open, intuitive connections in other ways. Whether walking or simply pausing throughout your day, become present and find your everyday magic and messages!

Who is fighting for your freedom?

Let us take a moment to thank those who sacrifice themselves for our greater good, the Army, Navy, Marines, FBI, Police, Firemen, First Responders, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Governments, Leaders, Explorers, Mothers and Fathers, and all others.

Are you truly free and independent?

On some level, we believe this to be true. If we haven’t done something out of line to be arrested and put in jail, we are considered free.

If you take this a little deeper and explore your beliefs, you might find ways you block your freedom and the most important choices available to you. You might be settling for your freedom but not truly living a free life.

We are all 100% energy. How are you using energy, for or against you?

Every belief you hold can make you a master or a slave of your life. Every belief can lead to you leading your life or you being in the backseat of your life with someone or something else leading your life for you. It all depends on the energy surrounding the thoughts, feelings, emotions, patterns, programs, stories, memories, and triggers that are fueling your beliefs.

We hold beliefs in many ways.

Beliefs we create in this lifetime we hold from our past lives, from our genetics, from the land, from group consciousness, and other people’s memories. For instance, if your father grew up with plenty of money and didn’t receive love or feel loved. Then your mother grew up with plenty of love but not enough money. This would be an example of opposites attract. You have been born with both sets of genetic programming. Having plenty of money and not enough money, having plenty of love,

and not enough love. You can hold: I am loved, and I am not loved at the same time, which is called a dual belief system. That’s why at times, life can feel like a roller coaster. These beliefs can work both for and against you depending on what polarity you are functioning from.

You can hold these beliefs consciously from learning how to behave from society, teachers, and your family or subconsciously where you are unaware of the beliefs holding you hostage, blocked and stuck.

In this day and age, we are more dependent on others than we realize.

As babies, we depend on our parents to raise us. When we are of age, we depend on someone to find us worthy enough to hire us. Most people hope and depend on finding a partner/ mate for this life.

- Do you need to be loved or choose to be loved?

- Do you need to have everything or choose to create a great life?

Once these incongruent thoughts, feelings, emotions, patterns, programs, and stories are identified and cleared, you take charge of your life. The possibilities and opportunities are endless. It’s as if you are no longer doing your life but have become your life.

That is true Independence.

The Peaceful Glow of Joy

It is so profound, so amazing, the extraordinary creativity that a child can distill from the fertile purity of their innocent soul. In August of 1998, a special friend of mine was blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl named Chelsea, and I was deeply honored to be given the title of “Uncle Johnny.” I have always taken full advantage of this honor and enjoyed my “duties” as Chelsea’s uncle to the max. We played many long hours together, and I have taught her whatever I could about life; of course, she taught me many lessons as well. One such less, a very important one, I would love to share with all my friends at this time.

It was a warm, cloudless, late July morning just before Chelsea’s third birthday, and I was ecstatic about the idea of spending an afternoon of fun with her. As I drove, I wondered what delights she would have in store for me – little did I know of the incredible gift I was to be given that day. I entered the house through the front door after knocking just once and receiving the customary “Come on in, Johnny” from Grandma. I could smell the fragrant aroma of freshly baked cupcakes as I opened the door, and I could see Chelsea with her back to me, seated at the dining room table. I could also see she was deeply engrossed in something. I was a little disappointed that she did not come running with giggles and her usual, “Hi, Uncle Johnny,” but that small disappointment would soon fade and be replaced with utter joy.

I walked through the living room into the dining area and sat down at the table to Chelsea’s right, and now I could see why she was so enthralled. The room was bathed in a very quiet, still, peaceful glow, yet at the same time, it pulsated with the electrical energy of pure joy. On the table in front of Chelsea sat a plate of tasty cupcakes, her favorites, with white frosting, and just to the right of that plate was a small clear bowl of colorful sprinkles. To my eyes, the sprinkles seemed to take on the same glowing iridescence that engulfed the room. Chelsea’s huge blue eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, and her round, precious face wore an ear-to-ear grin. She seemed to acknowledge my presence without ever looking at me; I could feel it. Time and time again, she reached very slowly, very deliberately into the bowl of sprinkles and pinched

just a few in her plump little fingers and placed them patiently, gently on the frosting’s surface, covering one cupcake at a time, all the while the unforced, unhurried grin of total fulfillment remained on her sweet face. She didn’t seem too interested in the results of her endeavor; instead, she obviously relished the simple act of doing it. She was in the moment and having fun. I sat mesmerized as the perfection of that moment swept into my heart and soul and left me with a new awareness and appreciation for the magical simplicity of just doing something for the pure pleasure of doing it, with no thought of what the results might be. For Chelsea, there was no good or bad value in what she was doing, only enjoyment.

We all have the instinct of creative expression. When we eliminate the idea of how something must turn out, we enhance the experience of simply doing it just for the pleasure of expressing yourself; eventually, you are bound to become “good” at it, and at the same time, you will find your own unique identity. This unforced, non-judgmental approach always works because you are not subject to the discouragement of your own criticism; instead, you are led to the deep fulfillment of self-discovery and the realization of your infinite potential. You quickly learn that your personal creativity evolves when you place the value in the joy of expressing rather than the finished product or the opinions of others.

The deepest, most lasting joy in life is not the product of emotional excitement. There is a soft, peaceful, glowing joy that comes from just being in the moment and truly feeling your divine connection with all that is, knowing that you are experiencing complete harmony with a perfect universe, even for just a little while. Whenever you are feeling down and anxious and discouraged with life, turn your focus to the remembrance of a more hopeful time, a time when you were indeed doing it for fun, and remind yourself of the joy that you felt then. Just as Chelsea reminded me of the happiness I had long ago forgotten, the beauty of that memory will do for you exactly what it did for me. It will lift you up, heal you and inspire you to express your magnificent individuality to a waiting world. It’s the ultimate thrill!

Get to Know Thy Self

A common question my clients wonder is how to get to know themselves. There are many different ways to begin the journey of getting to know you. We are all here to experience and grow, and one of the things that help us grow and have more profound experiences is to know ourselves. And that’s why we have experiences - to deepen our learning and our knowledge of ourselves as the mini creators we are.

One of the first things we can do to start knowing ourselves starts with the deep breathing through our belly that I’ve written about before. That breath allows us to pause and connect with our feelings and emotions. All emotions are ok. They are the guideposts guiding us when we acknowledge them. Just know that many of our emotions are actually from our past. The situation we find ourselves in triggers a memory as our subconscious mind likes repetition and will react as we did in the original experience. The pause lets us discern if the emotional reaction is from the past or present.

Next, own the emotion, acknowledge it so we can use it as guidance, and discover who we are and where we come from. It allows us to be authentic with ourselves and our Creator, who already knows all. Owning the emotion releases the energy we usually use to push our emotions away, allowing us to feel more energetic and supported by the universe. Because we are supporting ourselves and being our true Selves. Owning the emotion also helps us grow into connecting and trusting our own inner knowing that we have ignored for so long. How can we expect anyone else to listen or acknowledge us if we avoid listening and acknowledging ourselves? Remember, the world we experience is a mirror of our own Self.

When we own our emotions, we then have the courage to share our emotions with others. We live a more authentic life because when our interactions with ourselves are more authentic, it’s reflected in how we interact with others. It’s also reflected in what we are drawn to and are attracted to as we grow in self-knowledge, the experience of our life changes and becomes more positive. Because we are divine spirit having a human experience. We realize and integrate this knowledge as we get to know our Self.

Ideas vs Ideals

Edgar Cayce has been called the father of holistic medicine, and he said that the most important thing a person can do in their life is to “Set their Ideal” and live up to it!

It’s a big responsibility because Great Truths can be difficult to put into words. Language, ie words, are how programs function in the mind. Take the word “Responsibility” does it mean “Able to Respond”? Knowing what ideas I have for that word will determine my actions.

However, IDEALS are actual

“States of Being!”

Like LOVE as an ideal, is a state of being that we can dive into and allow LOVE to flow to and through all of our being, exciting us, healing us, and awakening us.

We can also open up to allow this LOVE to flow between us and other people...

IDEALS are perfect states of being and only become limited when we have smaller, little ideas that bend, bind, and attempt to define!

IDEALS such as UNCONDITIONAL LOVE are free, untethered, timeless, whole, and complete!

IDEALS EXERCISE

An ideal is a standard by which one lives. “The ideal gives us a sense of stability, guidance and orientation, as well as a criterion for judgments.” (Puryear & Thurston, 1987, p. 95)

“An ideal is not a goal. It is a motivational standard by which to evaluate our goals and our reasons for pursuing those goals. The goal is what; the ideal is why! A spiritual ideal is not so much a goal toward which we move as it is the spirit in which we grow. It is a living and dynamic standard by which we quicken and measure our daily motivation.” (Puryear, 1982, p. 112)

The readings frequently suggest an ideals exercise designed to examine and modify dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors based upon spiritual considerations. This exercise consists of writing down one’s ideals on paper. The process involves making three columns headed: SPIRITUAL, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL and listing words under each which signify the meaning of each category. The spiritual ideal is a person or concept which conveys the highest sense of purpose or meaning to which one may ascribe. The mental ideal is the mental attitude which is consistent with the spiritual ideal. The physical ideal is the behavior or physical manifestation of the spiritual ideal. Thus, the holistic perspective is maintained by the coordinating of physical, mental and spiritual ideals.

cognitive-behavioral models is the role of the spiritual ideal as the standard for mental and physical processes. The Cayce readings do not advocate a “value-free” approach to healing. However, the values are not to be imposed by an outside agency - each person must work through the process on one’s own to find one’s own balance.

The readings state that ideals will change as one progresses through life. Therefore, the ideals exercise is an ongoing process of reorientation. It may be viewed as a tool for maintaining balance and integration at all phases of one’s life.

The use of ideals has important clinical implications. Persons who have high spiritual ideals, but whose mental attitudes and physical behaviors fall short of these spiritual ideals, may be prone to self-condemnation for failing to live up to their own standards. Or, they may project their perceived shortcomings onto others. Self-blame or blaming of others is likely to lead to psychological and/or interpersonal problems. On the other hand, a person with low spiritual ideals (or the complete absence of them) may find life meaningless, boring and empty.

The technique is cognitive-behavioral since it brings to awareness the attitudes and beliefs upon which a person is operating and links the mental dimension to concrete behaviors.

1.) Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate antidepressant.

For my Grandchildren

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I’d know better. I’d really like for them to know about hand-me-down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf. I really would.

My cherished grandson, I hope you learn humility by surviving failure and that you learn to be honest even when no one is looking.

I hope you learn to make your bed and mow the lawn and wash the car - and I hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see a baby calf born and you have a good friend to be with you if you ever have to put your old dog to sleep. I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. And it is all right to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he’s scared, I hope you’ll let him.

And when you want to see a Disney movie and your kid brother wants to tag along, I hope you take him. I hope you have to walk uphill with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely. If you want a slingshot, I hope your father teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.

first crush on a girl, and that when you talk back to your mother you learn what soap tastes like. May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on the stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I hope you get sick when someone blows smoke in your face. I don’t care if you try beer once, but I hope you won’t like it. And if a friend offers you a joint or any drugs, I hope you are smart enough to realize that person is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your grandpa or go fishing with your uncle. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through a neighbor’s window, and that she hugs you and kisses you when you give her a plaster of paris mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness.

I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books, and when you learn to use computers, you also learn how to add and subtract in your head.

The Holy Man and the Lord

A Holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, ‘Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.’

The Lord led the holy man to two doors.

He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in, in the middle of the room was a large round table.. in the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, ‘You have seen Hell. They went to the next room and opened the door.. It was exactly the same as the first one.

There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water..

The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, ‘I don’t understand.

‘It is simple,’ said the Lord. ‘It requires but one skill.

You see, they have learned to feed each other.

The greedy think only of themselves.’

Buck Moon: Full Moon in July 2022

July’s full Buck Moon will rise on Wednesday, July 13, reaching peak illumination at 2:38 P.M. Eastern Time. It will be below the horizon at that time, so plan to look towards the southeast after sunset to watch it rise into the sky.

Behold the Full Buck Supermoon!

July’s full Buck Moon orbits closer to Earth than any other full Moon this year, making it the biggest and brightest supermoon of 2022! At its nearest point, the Buck Moon will be 222,089.3 miles (357,418 km) from Earth so it just edges out June’s Strawberry Moon by 200km.

While a supermoon is technically bigger and brighter than a regular full Moon, it only appears about 7% larger—which can be an imperceptible difference to the human eye, depending on other conditions. Nonetheless, it’s fun to know that the full Moon you’re looking at is the closest, biggest, and brightest of the year.

The July 2022 supermoon also appears slightly farther south, so lower in the sky than a month before; when a Moon is lower in the sky or nearer the horizon, it can also appear bigger.

Why Is It Called the Buck Moon?

The full Moon names used by The Old Farmer’s Almanac come from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources. Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not solely to the full Moon.

The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by.

Alternative July Moon Names

Several other names for this month’s Moon also reference animals, including Feather Moulting Moon (Cree) and Salmon Moon, a Tlingit term indicating when fish returned to the area and were ready to be harvested.

Plants are also featured prominently in July’s Moon names. Some of our favorites are Berry Moon (Anishinaabe), Moon When the Chokecherries are Ripe (Dakota), Month of the Ripe Corn Moon (Cherokee), and Raspberry Moon (Algonquin, Ojibwe).

Thunder Moon (Western Abenaki) and Halfway Summer Moon (Anishinaabe) are alternative variants that refer to the stormy weather and summer season.

What Does the Buck Moon Mean For Zodiac Signs?

Aquarius: If you’ve been feeling like you need to pull away and focus on yourself, now is the time to do it. Healing should be your priority this month. “If needed, allow yourself to tune out from reality in order to process things,” Kiss says. “This moon may bring up some endings or closure for you.”

Pisces: Evaluate all your relationships this month and step away from what no longer serves you or brings you joy. “Looking at who you align yourself with and any organizations you belong to,” Kiss says. “Make sure everyone is on the same page, and know that it is OK to let go of what isn’t working anymore.”

Aries: According to Kiss, this is a month to take a really close look at your career and what you’re doing with your life. “This moon will really make you evaluate if you’re in the right job, and if it is truly fulfilling your purpose,” she says. “You could even feel a greater amount of responsibility when it comes to your work or feel like you have more of it.” This could also mean learning that your job isn’t right for you, and a change might be necessary.

Taurus: Break out this month, and discover something new. There’s a whole world at your feet and so many ways to discover it. “Think travel, learning, school, writing, teaching, or publishing!” Kiss says.

Gemini: While you might be inclined to skim the surface of everything, take this month to do the opposite. “Think of one thing that intrigues you, or something your curiosity keeps pulling your attention to,” Kiss says. “Stay with that and go deeper.”

Cancer: Take this month to pour your energy into your relationships. “Is there a partnership in your life, romantic or not, that maybe needs some more attention, or that you’d like deepen? This full moon will aid you in establishing trust and connection with those you feel the safest with,” Kiss says.

Leo: Though this is a month for you to help others, you also need to make sure you’re taking care of your own mind, body, and spirit. “Your self-care and health will also be

illuminated, because if you don’t have an established routine for yourself, how can you help others?” Kiss asks.

Virgo: It may not be an easy month for Virgo, but you can and will get through it. “This full moon might bring up an old wound from the past in relation to your inner child,” Kiss shares. “The best way to work with that energy is to work with authentic self-expression, and do something that brought you immense joy as a child.”

Libra: Don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to be on your own this month. “Make sure you have a safe space during this full moon to maybe hide away,” Kiss says. “It might feel like more of an introverted season for you.”

Scorpio: On the contrary, it’s an extraverted month for Scorpio. According to Kiss, Scorpios are going to want to surround themselves with people, especially under the buck moon. “You’re going to feel a need for a connection somewhere,” Kiss added.

Sagittarius: “Taking it slower this full moon and tapping into the present moment with all five senses will help you feel more connected to this universal energy,” Kiss says. Lean into the introspection you’ll be drawn to this month.

Capricorn: Because the buck moon is in Capricorn, it only makes sense that Caps will feel everything heightened this month. “Themes around your identity and purpose will come through,” Kiss says, also noting that the moon will help you feel your authentic self.
