buildingabetterworld.net Welcome! Whether you are an applicant, a donor, a past recipient, or just a visitor thanks for stopping by. Please take a look around our website, I think you’ll find that the quality of our scholarship winners reflect some of the best that the Oakridge School District has to offer. The Oakridge Education Association’s Building A Better World Scholarship consists of three separate scholarships concentrating on student philosophy and life plans in regards to Global Awareness, Community Involvement, and Independent Travel. Students write essays assessing the significance of each, in creating a more just and compassionate society. This student involvement taken together with the generosity of our donors, provides the opportunity for all of us in the Oakridge Community to work together and to help build a better planet for future generations. Please consider joining with us in this exciting and significant endeavor. A little history… Since its inception in 2003 we have awarded over 20 scholarships for more than $18,000. Winners have graduated from American University in Washington D.C., Northern and Central and Western Michigan University. Others have voyaged to Portland and Boston and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on the travel scholarship. This Spring Dani Patton, a 2008 winner is using her scholarship award to study abroad in Europe with Northern Michigan University. 2010 Scholarship 2009 Scholarship 2008 Scholarship 2007 Scholarship 2006 Scholarship 2005 Scholarship 2004 Scholarship 2003 Scholarship
