Bnai Keshet is fortunate to be served by three outstanding rabbis: Senior Rabbi Elliott Tepperman, Associate Rabbi Darby Leigh, and our Director of Congregational Learning, Rabbi Ariann Weitzman.

This Shabbat SEFER HACHINUCH (BOOK OF EDUCATION) at 9 am. The Sefer Hachinuch teaches about each of the 613 commandments from both a legal and moral standpoint. Studying “The Chinuch” has served as a way for generations of Jews to deepen their engagement with the mitzvot. Led by Zach Lipner.

Coming up PRIDE SERVICE Monday, June 3 at 6 pm at Temple Ner Tamid, 936 Broad Street, Bloomfield. Bnai Keshet, Shomrei Emunah, and Temple Ner Tamid are collaborating once again this year for a Chag Ha-Ga-avah, our LGBTIQ Pride Holiday service. This year’s plan is to make it more inclusive for families of all kinds. It will be outdoors (weather permitting). Our guest speaker will be Gabriel Blau, Chief Operator of Family Equality Council, an incredibly important advocacy organization. His theme will be family oriented. Rabbi Darby sets off for Boston with his family in a few weeks. What better occasion to honor and show our love and appreciation for Rabbi Darby for his years at BK. The send-off will include remembrances, singing, and even some Roabsting. BK WILL HOST HOMELESS FAMILIES THROUGH THE IHN - INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK June 9 to 16.  Volunteers are needed to fill all shifts: evening coordinator, dinner prep, evening activities as well as overnighters. Who can volunteer? Students home on vacation, retirees, families with young kids, and regular working folks. ROSH CHODESH (FOR WOMEN ONLY)  Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 pm.  Led by Melissa Schaffer and Marie Ben-Israel, the women’s group marks the opportunity for renewal each month with a focus on gentle movement, chanting, and Jewish themes and topics. KINDER KESHET Friday, June 14 at 5:30 pm.  Families with children, infant through age 6, are invited for an evening of Shabbat songs, blessings, and stories. This family-friendly service is followed by a potluck dinner. Non-members are welcome. FRIDAY NIGHT CHAVURAH--“UNCHAINED AT LAST/ARRANGED MARRIAGES”  June 14 at 8 pm.  Presentation by Fraidy Reiss, founder and executive director of Unchained at Last, an organization that helps women leave arranged marriages. Wednesday Evening Minyan starting again on October 10 at 7:30 pm. Read Rabbi Elliott’s inspiring essay  in the May issue of Sh’ma. BIKE WITH BK ON THE HAZON NY LABOR DAY WEEKEND August 30 to September 2.  Cycle with Team BK on Hazon’s NY Ride this Labor Day Weekend. Cycle through the Berkshires and finish in NYC. Enjoy an incredible Shabbat retreat. Team BK members get a discounted registration fee of $150. Fundraise in support of environmental sustainability projects for the Jewish community and the world. Each Week MESH Mondays at 6 pm. BK serves dinner to homeless individuals on Monday nights in cooperation with Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH). Help provide warm dinner and company to Montclair’s homeless this season by helping host BK’s Monday evening MESH meals. Young people are not only welcome, but play a key role in preparing, serving, and running our meals. Contact Richard Skeen (rskeen@comcast.net) for further info.
