“It was a beautiful day.The weather was wonderful.” As Leigh and Dean Salmon stepped out into the sunshine on their special day, they both agreed the day was as magnificent as they had hoped. The happy couple tied the knot on Friday, September 10, 2011, at Grange Park Golf Club, at Messingham. More than 70 people attended the event, which began in the afternoon and went through into the evening. “It was just perfect in every way,” said Leigh. “It was wonderful how everything came together. “As we went away on our honeymoon we said to each other it really could not have been any better.”

Magic Moment It was 10 years ago that Leigh met Dean (who is known to many of his friends as “Sam”) in a bar. Three years later they moved in together and then last November Dean proposed. “We had talked about it for a few years and said that one of these days we would do it,” she said. “I’d had a bad day and he wanted to cheer me up so we went out for the evening. When we got home he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. “I said ‘yes’ straightaway!”

“It was everything we wanted really – and more.”

Exquisite Colours With the arrival of 2011, the planning began. The couple decided upon a colour palette using purples, aubergines and cream. Leigh chose an exquisite ivory dress from Alfred Angelo. Her flowers included calla lilies and roses. “Leigh looked absolutely stunning in her dress,” remembered Dean, who wore a morning suite, with a cream and gold waistcoat. “I had no idea at all what she would be wearing, and it just blew me away.”

Beautiful Occasion The wedding took place in the attractively decorated function room at Grange Park. Leigh’s daughter Danielle, 20 and Dean’s daughter, Amy, 25, were bridesmaids, and were joined in the wedding procession by the couple’s granddaughter Darcy, 20 months, and grandsons, Logan, 18 months, and McKenzie, six. Dean’s son Oliver was best man and his best friend, Gary, and Leigh’s son, Joshua, were ushers. Leigh’s brother Dean gave her away and her niece, Jade, did a reading. Afterwards, the happy couple and their guests stepped outside to have their photographs taken. “It was a beautiful day. The weather was wonderful,” Leigh added.

Lynne and Alan Kay were guests at the wedding Lynne said: “I have been friends with Leigh for about six years now and it was lovely to be at her wedding, which was an excellent day. “The venue was superb and there was a very nice family atmosphere. I was very impressed with how the room looked and how much Leigh had done herself. The wedding invitations were amazing. “Alan did the wedding video. He does a lot of them but said this was one of the nicest weddings he had ever been to. “It was magical. They are two very good friends and we were pleased we could be part of their special day.”

Ian Allott is a friend of the bride and groom Ian said: “I have known Leigh since she was 16. Through her I met her brother Dean, who went on to become my best man. “One of the great things about the wedding was seeing lots of people we hadn’t seen for a while. It was quite a surprise as to how big the occasion was and it was lovely to catch up with friends from years ago. “Everyone there was so excited – and it was really infectious. It was fun to stay in a lodge with some of the others. It meant there was a good build up to the event. “I loved the fact it was so relaxed and everyone seemed to have a smile on their face all day long.”

“It had been such an incredible day.”

“It was magical. They are two very good friends and we were pleased we could be part of their special day.”

John Hayes, Dean’s brother-in-law, was master of ceremonies John said: “I am an ex-DJ and was partly in control of the reception on the day. “It all went very smoothly. It was the first time I had ever been to a reception at Grange Park, and I was very impressed. The staff did a fantastic job and the food was spot on. “I loved seeing the children playing out on the putting green in the sunshine while the pictures were being taken. “I am a great believer in taking things slowly on the day - it always goes so fast and it is important to make the most of it. “I think we did make the most of it – it was a fantastic day.”

Dorothy Salmon is Dean’s mother Dorothy said: “It was a brilliant day – I want to do it all again but in slow motion this time! “I liked the fact it was not too formal. A lot of people were wearing fascinators. I wore a Jacques Vert skirt and top with a lime green jacket. “Leigh looked lovely and she was so happy. I am pleased they got married, although she has always felt like my daughter-in-law anyway. “I wish them years of happiness together.”
