Featured Instructor:

Don comes from a large family and was curious where his family came from. His father and paternal grandparents died very young, and he wanted to find answers, which led him from North Dakota to Springfield, Illinois and eventually to Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. Today, Don has expanded his family research to include nearly 90,000 relatives located throughout the United States and Europe. He has uncovered many family stories, which is his favorite part of research. Don enjoys traveling, and every trip usually includes a stop at an ancestor or relative’s home, which is a way to get more information and experience where they lived. Don owns a company that specializes in software technology development and consulting for health and human services in state and federal government. He is semi-retired, which allows more time for a great hobby like genealogy. We hope you join Don for Getting Started with Genealogy or Genealogy Resources Using Technology this Winter!

Strategic planning is a term that seems to be tossed around more and more as businesses become more aware of budget issues and retirement gaps that are developing. Prepare yourself, and your company, by learning the basic steps needed to plan successfully. In this class, we will cover why it’s important to identify your core values and develop a shared vision with your employees. We will discuss why it is important to keep tradition in mind, but move forward with shortterm thinking. You will see how to prepare an agenda for your meeting, learn how to define a path to move forward and develop a plan to review steps as you move forward with your plan. This class will present important steps to ensure that you (and your company) are prepared for whatever comes next! 4/11 BSC NECE, Room 103 Fee: $239

Wed 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Instructor: Mary Beth Burns Course ID: 5600113

Setting Goals and Reviewing *Results People are more engaged and strive for better results when they feel ownership of their work in both the process and the outcomes. Unfortunately, leaders fail to engage and reinforce this sense of ownership in performance management discussions. This course will show the positive effect of shifting the traditional role of planner and evaluator from the leader to a shared responsibility between leader and employee. This shift builds ownership with the employee and frees up time for leaders to focus on coaching and developing throughout the performance cycle. 4/26 BSC NECE, Room 101 Fee: $169
