MICROGENERATION CERTIFICATION SCHEME (MCS) – PRODUCT CERTIFICATION SERVICES The MCS is an internationally recognised quality assurance scheme which demonstrates the quality and reliability of approved products by satisfying rigorous and tested standards. It was designed with input from product and installer representatives. Product certification involves type testing of products and an assessment of the manufacturing processes, materials, procedures and staff training. In order to comply with the RHI guidelines and the forthcoming financial subsidies on the use of a domestic biomass heating system, MCS certification is now essential. Since 2009, Bio-Nordic have been responsible for successfully achieving the MCS certification of the majority of Scandinavian produced biomass boiler plants up to 45kW output. If you are a Scandinavian manufacturer of a biomass heating system (to water and under 45kW), please contact Bio-Nordic now for a no obligation quotation to achieve the MCS certification for your products. NB: Above 45kW a client is at liberty to use non MCS certified products, with the onus falling on the engagement of a professional design engineer whose technical assessment of a product's suitability is deemed equal to that of MCS Certification. The MCS Certification doesn't actually place stringent technical standards on boilers, it simply ensures that certain minimum standards have been met. What is much more important to know is that a boiler has achieved or exceeds the requirements of European Standard EN303-5.
