The Spanish Language History and Literature Module contains 15 Anthologies of Spanish-language content. There are hundreds of books, articles and documents all in Spanish that are in high demand. The reputable content addresses people and events through Spanish history and contains content from the National Library of Colombia and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports in Spain. Here are some of our favorite Anthologies.

1. The Spanish Golden Age: Art, Architecture and Music, c. 1517–1681

This Anthology is a crash course in Spanish art, architecture and music. The curated collections organize the content by type and artist. I especially liked the collection on Spanish Renaissance Architecture. If I can’t travel to Spain for tours of these works, these informative books and high-definition images are a great alternative. I learned a lot about the history and technique behind these phenomenal structures.

2. Simón Bolívar: The Great Liberator

I’d read about Bolívar in high school history class, but this Anthology really widened my understanding of him. Not only does the content cover Bolívar’s life, it covers the history of his political career. I received a much stronger understanding of how Bolívar’s leadership helped liberate Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

3. José María Espinosa: 19th-Century Colombian Art and Caricature

I’ve gotten a caricature of myself done on vacation once, but I’d never given the style of drawing any more thought until now. Some of pictures in this Anthology had me laughing out loud, but others served to broaden my view of Espinosa’s artwork. The Anthology also included additional texts to help me understand the technique, history and importance of Espinosa. Jessica Duggan is the Editorial Manager at BiblioLabs in Charleston, SC. 1. La edad de oro en España: Arte, Arquitectura y Música, c. 1517–1681

Esta Antología es un curso intensivo en arte, arquitectura y música de España. Las colecciones curadas organizan el contenido por tipo y por artista. Me gustó en particular la antología de arquitectura del renacimiento español. Si no tengo la posibilidad de viajar a España y ver estas obras en vivo y en directo, estos libros informativos e imágenes en alta definición son una gran alternativa. He aprendido mucho acerca de la historia y la técnica detrás de estas impresionantes estructuras.

2. Simón Bolívar: El gran Libertador

Había leído acerca de Bolívar en las clases de historia en la escuela secundaria, pero esta antología definitivamente me permitió tener un conocimiento más acabado de él. Esta colección cubre la vida de Bolívar y también la historia de su carrera política. Pude lograr una comprensión mucho más profunda acerca del modo en que la influencia de Bolívar ayudó en la liberación de Venezuela, Colombia , Perú, Bolivia y Ecuador.

3. María Espinosa: Artista y caricaturista colombiano del siglo XIX

Una vez, estando de vacaciones, alguien dibujó una caricatura mía. Esto fue hace mucho tiempo y pasados los años jamás reflexioné acerca del estilo de este tipo de dibujo con detenimiento hasta ahora. Algunas de las fotografías reflejadas en esta antología me hicieron llorar de risa, pero otras me sirvieron en mucho para ampliar mi perspectiva de las obras de arte de Espinosa.
