Novel·les com Alta fidelitat, 31 songs o Juliet naked són bons exemples de fins a quin punt la literatura i la música resulten arts gairebé indissociables per a l’autor londinec. En aquesta ocasió, Hornby ha anat una mica més lluny i ha elaborat les lletres de les cançons de l’últim treball de Ben Folds. Les iròniques i divertides històries de l’escriptor casen a la perfecció amb les policromes composicions de Folds, i la barreja dóna com resultat un armoniós conjunt de melodies barroques i lletres que oculten una crítica contundent darrere de l’amagatall de l’humor.
