The squash training is directed and supervised by Víctor Montserrat. Ex-PSA international player with 25 years experience of coaching, and presently coaching 2 of the 5 youngest top 150 PSA players, namely: • E d m o n López Moller –2nd youngest player in the top 150 PSA after Diego Elias and runner-up in the 2015 European Junior Boys U19 Championship. • Iker Pajares Bernabeu –5th youngest player in the top 150 PSA. Both E d m o n and Iker together with Víctor’s third top PSA player, Bernat Jaume, formed part of the Spanish national team that m a d e history in 2014. Never before in the history of Spanish squash had a national junior team reached the final of the European Under 19 Championship, held in Helsinki in 2014, nor had it ever finished third in a World Team Championship, co m i ng third after Egypt and Pakistan in the event held in Namibia in the same year. Both were achieved with all three players in the team and all three are presently coached by our Head Coach Víctor Montserrat: •

BGS TEAM FITNESS TRAINING In BGS our Fitness Training is an educational and integral discipline taking into consideration all the aspects that positively influence our athletes to be better and more efficient; training and strengthening the core through the use of properly
performed stability-based exercises is a high priority in order to optimise
functioning and injury prevention of our athletes.
Protocols such as warm up, cool down, movement
techniques, nutrition, postural inbalances, etc, are all given their
respective and equal priority. Specific
fitness training is done on the court itself to improve speed and movement patterns. Speed and strength aspects that are key to modern day squash and fitness in a more global way will be centred in the
gymn, swiming pool, and outside on the athletics track. The nearby beaches and
surrounding mountains will also provide
options for fitness training where group sessions can provide
diversity and fun. In the BGS s ummer camp, although physical preparation is a priority for all our players, we are aware that this is the summer and we will take into consideration a specific volume of fitness that respects the vacational mind-set and abscence of periodisation. 14 |barcelonaglobalsquash.com

Fitness Program The BGS S u m me r C a m p Fitness Training will comprise versatile integrated physical preparation designed to avoid injuries. BGS is particulary concerned about over - focus/emphasis on playing, and too little focus on preparing the body to
perform and keeping the body healthy. BGS fitness training will cover different

campers during their summer stages. It provides wonderful accommodation in beautiful surroundings, on-site catering and on-site sports facilities. The Residence Hall is the perfect place to enjoy an unforgettable experience
in Barcelona whether you are preparing your academic and professional career, are doing an
intensive summer sports camp, or following an international language course, etc. Located on-campus at La Salle R a m on Llull University and beside the best faculties IQS, UIC, Abat Oliba and other centres of the URL, the residence is in a select area of the city but so well located that you can can go running in the Collserola or shopping in the centre, and all within just a couple of minutes. The Campus La Salle has single and double studios which are fully-furnished and equipped with kitchen and bathroom, climate control, free WiFi, etc, providing a space for living , studying and training, and all at your own pace. Barcelona Global Squash has chosen one of Barcelona’s and Spain’s most prestigious sports and wellness centres, CLUB METROPOLITAN, as its venue for the summer camps. Its high quality facilities make this an ideal and unique setting for
our campers who will have full access to the club’s installations which include
swimming pool, 3 glass back squash courts, one with seating capacity for 2 00 spectators, 2 fully equipped gymnasiums, and a restaurant. Our campers will have full catering services provided by the club’s restaurant which offers suitable Mediterranean cuisine for sports players. Club Metropolitan has historical strong links with top level squash having organized high profile tournaments and events which have always been characterised by their impeccable organisation and high quality. During the 90´s and until 2005, the majority of the PSA Ciutat de Barcelona Tournaments and many National Masters were held here. In 2009, Club Metropolitan sponsored the first staging of the Ciutat de Barcelona in a new all glass court set u p in one of Barcelona’s largest and newest up-market shopping centres, I´Illa Diagonal. In 2012 Club Metropolitan sponsored and staged the
exhibition m a t ch staged to raise funds for deprived and
