ST. LUKE’S HOSPITAL AT THE VINTAGE

BGE provided civil engineering and surveying services for this 28-acre hospital project within The Vintage development in northwest Harris County, Texas. The project included grading and drainage design, paving layout and design, private water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, fire lane design, and preparation of plans for the extension of a duct bank for power supply to the site. The project site contains a helipad, which required close coordination with the architect and project team for grading and drainage. The project lies adjacent to a large amenity lake designed by BGE that serves dual use as floodplain mitigation and stormwater detention facility. The fast-paced project design was extensively coordinated with the team of architects, landscape architects, MEPs, structural engineers, general contractor, program manager, and St. Luke’s Hospital officials.

THE VINTAGE MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING

The St. Luke’s Hospital project also included a 40,000-square-foot medical office building adjacent to the hospital located in Harris County, Texas. It involved designing and preparing construction plans for the building’s private water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, and storm drainage collection systems. BGE coordinated the design and construction of utilities for future expansions and interconnections with St. Luke’s Hospital. BGE also coordinated some of the construction activities to minimize the owner’s costs.

VINTAGE KELSEY-SEYBOLD CLINIC

BGE provided civil engineering and surveying services for the 10-acre Kelsey-Seybold Clinic located within The Vintage development in Houston, Texas. BGE’s project scope included the preparation of grading and drainage design, paving layout and design, a private water distribution system, a sanitary sewer collection system, and fire lane design. The project included close coordination with master-plan utilities and roadway design. The project was also coordinated with the project team of architects, MEPs, a structural engineer, a program manager, and the Kelsey-Seybold operations staff to incorporate real-world solutions into the project’s design. BGE also coordinated the site grading to allow the conservation of numerous site trees in the parking area.

MEMORIAL HERMANN IMAGING CENTER

BGE provided civil engineering and surveying services for the addition of the Imaging Center, located on 2.48 acres, to the existing hospital system located within the Memorial City complex located at IH 10 and Gessner in Houston, Texas. The project consisted of grading and drainage design, paving layout and design, water distribution system, and sanitary sewer collection of the new facility. In addition, BGE provided the guidance needed for the hospital system to obtain rights from the City of Houston to cross the busy Gessner thoroughfare with an eye-catching pedestrian bridge to link the hospital system with Memorial City Mall.

BGE prepared traffic control plans and helped to coordinate the construction timing of the bridge. The project was closely coordinated with the ongoing reconstruction of Gessner and designed in such a way as to provide minimal disruption to the operations of the existing hospital facilities. In addition to the exterior grading, BGE also coordinated the grading on the ground level of the garage’s interior. BGE coordinated with the project team of architects, MEP, structural engineer, MetroNational, and Memorial Hermann Hospital operations staff.

MEMORIAL HERMANN HOSPITAL

BGE was the primary Project Engineer for MetroNational, the landowner and operator of more than 225 acres south of IH 10 and located on both the east and west sides of Gessner Road in Houston, Texas. The project included Memorial City Mall and Memorial Hermann Hospital - Memorial City Campus. For more than 15 years, BGE provided engineering and surveying services to develop and redevelop the mall and hospital campus.

Services included surveying; platting; design of roadways, parking, and utilities; and traffic control. Extensive coordination was required with the landowner, Memorial Hermann Hospital, and other consultants. BGE provided widespread design and traffic control services for the current redevelopment and installation of the multiple sky bridges to minimize disruption to the operations of the facilities.

MCR HEALTH AT WAKEFIELD

BGE provided civil engineering services for the MCR Health at Wakeland project in Bradenton, Florida. This is a public medical clinic within an existing public school campus for the School District of Manatee County. Site improvements will include an additional parking lot, ADAaccessible paths, and stormwater conveyance, all while maintaining a secure campus.

HEARTLAND DENTAL

BGE provided civil engineering services for a Heartland Dental office in Florida. The project consists of a standalone 4,200-square-foot dental office. Site improvements include parking, ADA accessibility, utilities, and stormwater conveyance.

CONNERTON MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING

BGE is providing schematic design, design development, construction documents, and permitting for a 5-acre medical office complex in Pasco County, Florida. The project includes storm drainage and a flood study, including floodplain compensation and underground storage. The project also includes wetland mitigation, utility design, lift station design, grading, site layout, and parking lot design. Offsite force main improvements were designed and permitted with the Pasco County Utility Department, and a right-turn lane is being permitted through the Florida Department of Transportation.

HENDERSON MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING

BGE is currently providing schematic design, design development, construction documents, and permitting for the redevelopment of a 0.9-acre medical office complex in Tampa, Florida. This project includes a letter modification to the existing Environmental Resource Permit through the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). BGE is also performing utility design, grading, site layout, and parking lot design for this project.

ASSISTED AND INDEPENDENT LIVING

GRAND LIVING AT THE GROVE

BGE provided civil engineering services for the 2.56-acre assisted living facility located in Central Austin. BGE completed utility, water quality, grading, drainage, site design, and traffic control design, working closely with the project team of ownership, architects, MEPs, structural, geotechnical, and contractors. The project featured several rain gardens, which required extensive design coordination with the project team to ensure the design met the precise requirements set forth by the City of Austin. The project is a part of the Grove at Shoal Creek master-planned community, for which BGE served as the engineer of record for the entirety of the community’s lifespan.

ASSISTED AND INDEPENDENT LIVING

THE ABBEY AT WESTMINSTER PLAZA PHASE II

BGE provided civil engineering services for the 4.98-acre Phase II expansion of an existing assisted living center located in Houston, Texas. BGE completed grading, drainage, water distribution, wastewater collection, and floodplain mitigation design. These services were closely coordinated with the project team of owners, architects, MEP, and structural engineers. The floodplain mitigation was provided by balancing the cut and fill located below the perimeter floodplain that existed on the site and was done in such a way as to avoid costly material import/export. The project was reviewed and approved by Harris County Flood Control and the City of Houston.

CYPRESS CREEK REHABILITATION AND HEALTHCARE CENTER

BGE provided civil engineering, survey, and subdivision platting services for the 10.4-acre skilled nursing facility in Harris County, Texas. The project involved completing grading, drainage and detention design, water distribution, wastewater collection, and the creation of a fire lane layout. The subdivision platting was master planned to allow for future development along the perimeter of the property. The facility was also designed to provide an outdoor area for patient rehabilitation and relaxation to supplement the services inside the facility. BGE solicited and received approvals from the City of Houston, Harris County, and Harris County Fresh Water Supply District 61.

THE BRADFORD MEMORY CARE CENTER

BGE provided civil engineering and subdivision platting services for the 6.13-acre memory care center located in a wooded enclave near Lake Houston in Harris County, Texas. The project included the design of grading, drainage, detention and water distribution, wastewater collection, and a paving plan. The project was designed with an eye toward future expansion to allow for reductions in costs for additional infrastructure required for growth. BGE prepared and recorded the subdivision plat required for the development. The memory facility was closely coordinated with the owner and project team to provide an accessible drop-off lane in front of the facility. BGE worked with Harris County, the City of Houston’s Planning Department, and Harris County MUD 151 to obtain approvals.

CYPRESS POINTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER

BGE provided civil engineering, survey, and subdivision platting services for the 6.3-acre health and wellness center located within the Cypress area of Harris County, Texas. The project involved completing grading, drainage, detention design, water distribution, wastewater collection, and the creation of a fire lane layout. The facility was also designed to provide an outdoor area to provide patient rehabilitation and relaxation to supplement the services inside the facility. BGE solicited and received approvals from the City of Houston, Harris County, Harris County MUD 179, and Harris County Fresh Water Supply District 145.

LANDING AT WATERCREST SHADOW CREEK RANCH

BGE provided civil engineering services for a 4.7-acre retirement community located in Pearland, Texas. BGE completed the design of a grading plan, drainage, water distribution, and wastewater collection for the facility. The project was designed to negotiate an existing 80-foot-wide high-voltage power line easement located across the corner of the property. BGE was able to obtain permission to provide a parking area for the facility within the easement. In addition, BGE obtained plan approvals from the City of Pearland to construct the facility.

BROOKDALE WEST UNIVERSITY

BGE provided engineering and surveying to redevelop this site into an independent senior living community located at Buffalo Speedway and Westpark in Houston, Texas. The project has 337 units that overlook six different courtyard designs. This 12-acre site was initially developed with apartment homes and three public streets. The project required the demolition of the existing development and the abandonment of the public streets, which added 2.5 acres to the site. The street abandonment involved coordination between the client, adjacent property owners, the City of Houston’s Public Works Department, and private utility companies.

9.5-ACRE

INDEPENDENT LIVING FACILITY

FOR THE PHASE I DEVELOPMENT, BGE PROVIDED GRADING, DRAINAGE, DETENTION, WATER DISTRIBUTION, AND WASTEWATER COLLECTION DESIGN.

THE BUCKINGHAM

BGE provided civil engineering for this high-end, 17.86-acre assisted and independent living facility in Houston, Texas. This project involved the design of grading and drainage, private water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, and evaluation of the natural setting along the banks of Buffalo Bayou. Close coordination was required with the project team of architects, MEPs, structural engineer, and program manager.

ELLA SPRINGS INDEPENDENT SENIOR LIVING CENTER

BGE provided civil engineering, surveying, and subdivision platting services for the 9.5-acre independent living facility in north Harris County, Texas. The parcel is the first of several phases, with the total master development making up nearly 33 acres. For the Phase I development, BGE provided grading, drainage, detention, water distribution, and wastewater collection design. These were done in conjunction with the initial site assessment services and the preliminary master development plan to ensure future phase development may proceed efficiently. BGE obtained approvals from the City of Houston’s Planning Department, Harris County, Harris County Flood Control District, and Harris County MUD 86.
