DeeDee Animation is an animation studio with a focus on 2D animation. We firmly believe that 2D animation will help us deliver exciting and emotional stories, taking the audience to a journey of colors and sounds.

With a team experienced in designing visuals and creating contents, we can develop our own original scripts, and complete animation productions with a professional pipeline.
We understand that attention to details in every line of dialogue, every scene, every note of music can touch the souls within the audience. That’s why we put much care into our productions for the best final results possible.
We focus on keeping our technologies up to date to bring our work to international standards. Our productions use Toon Boom Harmony and Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, which are being used by major studios like Walt Disney, Pixar, or Cartoon Network. We also receive direct support from Toon Boom’s technicians to improve the quality of our work.

Our full animation pipeline includes: Pre-production, Production, and Post-production.
PRE PRODUCTION
Script - Screenplay A good story is the root of everything. Our content creators prioritize in creating the best scripts possible from any rough ideas.
Storyboard Storyboards are rough drawings done to flesh out the story visually, including camera angles and rough ideas for movements. Then they will be compiled together and timed to create an Animatic with rough voices and sounds that would be used as a base for production. 6 DeeDee Animation Studio
PRODUCTION
Visual Development
Layout Design/Background Painting
Our artists develop concept arts to define the overall tones and emotions in the early stages of a film. Then we design the main settings and compositions in preparation for the layout designs and backgrounds later on. Characters and props are also designed and refined during this stage.
These are done based on the settings that appear in the storyboards, allowing the characters to perform and act out the story.
Rigging Literally bringing life to the characters by giving them digital bones using Toon Boom Harmony, allowing them to move and have different expressions in every angle.

Feature Films - Animated Series
“Animation is not drawings that move, it’s movements that were drawn.” - This is our motto in animation. The animators give the characters their souls through movements and performances that translate their emotions in different types of stories.
Putting together individual scenes together with correct timing and rhythm to make a final film or episode.
A feature film or animated series has a better chance of reaching a wider range of audience. This is a suitable option for ambitious stories that require more budget and long term planning.

Short film “Awaken� (2017) Inspired by the writings of ZhuangZhou - an ancient Chinese philosopher, the story is about a fishing trip that involves an old man, a dog, and a strange creature in a half awaken trance-like reality. The film won Runner-Up and Outstanding Script at the FY Film Fest 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City; the Most Promising Award at Digicon6 Vietnam, featured at Digicon6 Asia in Japan in October, 2017; and featured at The World Animation Celebration Festival sponsored by Sony Pictures Animation.

“Broken Being� Animated Series A 2D animated series with a post apocalyptic setting. Every episode poses questions about the meanings of life and human existence. Not only developing good stories, we are doing a lot of research for visual development to create a rich fictional world inspired by Vietnamese culture but can still be enjoyed all around the world.

Short film "Kiss" A short film about a curious young man dreaming about love and a romantic first kiss. His passion for young love has been delivered through the gentil scenes in this film.

Music Video “Usual Morning” Popular Vietnamese singer Vu Cat Tuong expected to bring creativity into her song’s video. We helped her create a music video with a story, a setting, and characters that represent every line in the song and reflect her personality. The video was featured on Vietnam’s National TV channel VTV1.

“The Silver iOn Squad� Animated Series This animated series is sponsored by the brand Lifebuoy (Unilever), produced by our studio and distributed by POPS Worldwide. We were in charge of production from storyboarding, character designs, layout designs and background paintings, animation, and editing. The story takes place in an utopian future, where the young superhero protagonists fight off an evil alien invasion.

Ancient City: Legend Of The Crossbow (Intro) Loa Thanh Ruc Lua (Ancient City: Legend Of The Crossbow) is a project for which we were in charge of the production process. We tried to recreate ancient Vietnamese culture of the rice farming, and to make an animated film to reflect our long epic history of protecting our nation from foreign invaders. From fast paced action packed scenes to the more mellow cinematic experiences, we wanted to prove that animation is not a medium exclusively made for children, but can reach a much wider range of audience.
