About BAUSHTELLË: BALKAN TEMPLE is an art project arising from the roots of

Zurich, Pristina and Belgrade that will take place from July to September 2015.

Baushtellë provides a platform for the people to seek inside their depths of

being and provide an honest and pure answer to the question: “What do you believe in?”. This question is fundamental to every human being and is central

to all acts and decisions in life. We believe that this challenge will inspire the

participants to create honest and thoughtful works of art that can withstand generations. There are borders in our minds and maps and we think they exist because people are willing to believe in them. We believe that at the end of the day, people are people and that everyone is confronted with the same essential questions in life, regardless of their differences.

People from each of the three cities will gather for the purpose of answering this question through artworks which will be united and condensed into one huge artistic performance. This performance will be developed in the research phase: a six week travel of the Baushtellë crew throughout the three cities which involves more than 30 public art events.

The final performance will be held one time only in each of the three cities: Pristina (5th of September), Belgrade (12th of September) and Zurich (19th of September). The core team of 30 selected artists will be traveling through the three cities and will be joined by more than 50 local artists/performers in each 4

city. This way, each performance will have a special spirit and a different answer to the question “What do you believe in?”. The artists will be guided by their own curiosity to find their answer and will be able to use any medium possible: music, sculpture, dance, literature, words, voice, movement, paintings, photos, videos, etc.

All public events of the research phase as well as the final performances are open for everyone and free of charge. We welcome anyone who likes our project to support us in any way possible.
