Beach Volleyball

Once again, the start of the school year began with a trip to Mount Manganui to compete in the Secondary School Beach Volleyball Nationals. The talent and camaraderie of the beach volleyball players and staff continues to grow, resulting in a group that train hard and compete with a focus on leaving it all on the sand. The skills and sportsmanship of the pairs led to outstanding results and Rangitoto College being acknowledged as a top school in New Zealand. One third of the pairs medalled at the national event, which was outstanding.

Kiana Stevenson and Kaia Buckley won gold and are national champions in the Year 11 Girls division. In the same division, Sienna Rugg and Jenny McMillian were awarded a bronze medal. Ryan Jefferson and Juan Carlos Quintero gained a silver in the Year 11 Boys division. The Senior Boys pairs also had great results with Ethan Skelton and Nico Lietz gaining bronze in the Senior Boys first division, whilst in the second division, Flynn Little and Jermaine Kightley won gold.

To produce such great results reflects the commitment shown from Rangitoto coaches who work tirelessly to ensure the players are fully prepared for the tournament. Thank you, Johann Timmer, Nina Kerr, Adam Watson, and Sam Bell, for continued support, time, good humour, and expertise in beach volleyball. The players are so lucky to be able to access your knowledge and tactical prowess. Alan Kerr and Sharon Redpath always ensure players are ready to compete at the highest level and must be acknowledged for all the time and energy they commit to the beach volleyball players.
