Deaths

Norma J. Freter-Janske Norma Jean Freter-Janske, 65, of St. Peter, passed away of natural causes, June 7, 2012 in Bellevue, NE surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13 from 47 p.m. at St. Peter Funeral Home - Klein Chapel and also one hour prior to the service. Funeral service is Thursday, June 14 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. She was born May 6, 1947 to Emil and Verdell (Schuette) Freter in New Prague. Norma graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1965 and received a Licensed Practical Nursing diploma from Mankato Technical College in 1981. Norma worked as a licensed practical nurse for the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, antiques, crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, fishing, and more than anything, spending time with her family and grandchildren. Norma is survived by her husband, Walter Janske of St. Peter; sons, Eric (Melinda Emerson) Jentz of St. Peter, and Daniel (Stephanie) Jentz, of St. Peter; daughters, Sarah Farrell of Lake City, Amy (Michael) Nelson of Bellevue, NE; step-sons, Wesley Janske of Eastgreenville, PA, and Jesse Janske of North Mankato; grandchildren, Derek Jentz, Christopher and Alicia Farrell, Dylan and Isabella Jentz, Tyler and Riley Seys, Camden Nelson; step-granchildren Robert and Cheryl Janske; three sisters, Arlene (Lloyd) Latzke; Diane (Gerald) Bratsch of Belle Plaine; and Donna Brenke of New Prague; and many nieces and nephews. Norma is preceded in death by her parents.

Birth Announcement

Michael and Amanda Berg of Carver are pleased to announce the birth of their third daughter, Adalena Kjerstin. Adalena was born on May 15, 2012 at 9:54 a.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 181/2 inches long with beautiful thick black hair. Adalena was welcomed home by her proud big sisters, Savannah Kelly, 6, and Josephine Katherine, 2. Grandparents are Harold and Mary Berg of Carver and Jane Saulsbury of Murdock.

Harold F. Widmer Harold F. Widmer, 87, of Norwood Young America passed away on Sunday at The Harbor in Norwood Young America. Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America with Father Paul Ardolf as Celebrant of the Mass. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at church; interment at Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Harold was born on October 8, 1924 in St. Bonifacius the son of John H. and Margaret R. (Fick) Widmer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius. On April 19, 1949 Harold was united in marriage to Margaret M. Tellers at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. Harold was born with farming in his blood. He began with a farm partnership with his brother, Jerome, near Union Hill. In 1949 he purchased his own farm near Bongards while he also worked at Minneapolis Moline in Hopkins for a few years. Over the next decades he farmed with his family milking cows and raising hogs and crops until he retired turning the farm operation over to his sons. But, even then, his love of the farm and the land never left his blood. Margaret passed away in 2006, and he resided at The Harbor in Norwood Young America from 2008 until his death. Harold loved listening to old tyme music, playing sheephead, traveling and dancing. He belonged to many boards during his life including, Carver County ASC Committee, Bongards School, Carver County Planning and Zoning, Benton Twp. Board Supervisor, Bevins Creek Watershed Management, Carver Creek Watershed Management, Minnesota Power, Metro Council, was on drafting an ordinance for Ag Preserve in the metro area in 1980 and the committee for a Fire Department in the Township. Harold is survived by his loving family; son and daughter-in-law and their families, Gary and Marilee Widmer of Norwood Young America, Tracy and Jeff Madejczyk, Ellie, Maddie and Jackson Madejczyk, Julie and Jeff Schmidt, Lauren, Vanessa and Emily Schmidt, Dan Widmer and special friend, Cheryl Craig, Kiersten, Korrin and Kaelan Widmer, Mike Widmer and fiancée, Courtney Clark; daughter and son-inlaw and their famlilies, Mary Lou and Dale Wildung of Cologne, Jeffrey and Victoria Wildung, Wendy Wildung, Jordan Wildung, Melissa and Adrian Pozzi; son, Eugene Widmer of Norwood Young America; son and daughter-inlaw and their families, Roy and Laura Widmer of Norwood Young America, Pat and Teryn Widmer, Becky and Jason Kelzer, Jeremy Widmer and special friend, Meagan Lenz; sisters, Elaine Wandschneider of St. Paul, Mary Klein of Waconia; brothers and sistersin-law, Carl and Joanna Widmer of Spring Park, Francis and Janet Widmer of Robbinsdale, Fritz and Jane Widmer of Cologne, Edie Widmer of St. Bonifacius; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Tellers of Chaska, Marion and Al Schueren of Green Isle; nieces, nephews other relatives and

Bernice A. Nagel Bernice A. Nagel, 94, of Belle Plaine passed away on June 12, 2012 at Mala Strana Nursing Home in New Prague. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Rev. John Zeitler will officiate. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Bernice was born on August 8, 1917 to Herman and Minnie (Moeller) Schultz in Prior Lake. She married Louis A. Nagel on September 4, 1935 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fish Lake. They lived in Blakeley Township; Scott County until the early 60’s at which time they moved to Belle Plaine. Bernice was a homemaker and a nurse. As a nurse she worked at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine for 35 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid for many years, enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking and traveling. Bernice is survived by her daughters, LaVonne Mey of West Bend, WI and Louise Nagel of Greenfield, WI; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schultz of Prior Lake and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Mark Mey; sister, Mildred Scharf; and brothers, Harry and Everette Schultz.
