When you have people like the Brittains to work with it is a very easy decision. This year we have brought to town three Balancer bulls and one purebred. As many of you folks do, I also have a full time job that keeps me away from the farm more than I would like, so we decided to breed our heifers to an easy calving, high performance red angus bull, and wow am I impressed. JM 38D is our only purebred on offer this year. This Third Edition son is a growthy, stylish bull that would cross well on Angus-based cows. With an actual weaning weight of 722lbs on September 2 with nothing but momma’s milk and green grass, this guy has the genetics to pass on great performing steers. BNH LIVESTOCK We are excited about this year’s offering of virgin, long yearling bulls. They have been backgrounded on grass as yearlings, which helps them mature out more naturally and develop a foundation they can maintain when they are required to get out and work. These bulls will be coming to you fully sementested, soundness evaluated, and have been managed under a complete herd health program. Our goal is to produce stout made, sound, easy fleshing cattle that combine functionality with disposition. We run approximately 30 head of purebred and percentage females that are managed closely on intense pasture grazing. All three of the bulls in this year’s offering come from females we are proud to say have stood the test of time and have longevity and productivity in their pedigree.

Casanova is a moderate framed, dark red herdsire prospect that we are excited about! He combines the style and performance of his paternal grandsire, the 2012 Reserve National Champion Bull, with the incredible maternal longevity and productivity of his maternal grand dam. His numbers back this impressive pedigree as he ranks in the top 1% BW and top 10% CE EPD and has a modest 74lb BW. He also ranks in the top 25% in marbling and 1% in YG, to be able to pass these carcass traits on to offspring. Longevity is in this boy’s blood as his maternal granddam was in production in our herd to the age of 17. This is a rare opportunity to find a herdsire this well rounded in the breed. Casino Royale 11C is a bull that we have thought very highly of since birth. He was second in class to the 2016 National Champion Bull, as well as a top 5 finalist in the 2016 Canadian Bull Futurity. He comes from one of our foundation cow families, the “Berry” cow family that has left a mark in our herd, stamping thick made, super maternal offspring that can crank out calves, time and time again. He ranks in the top 1% of the breeds EPDs in both BW as well as YW. Copenhagen is a balancer bull that you have to appreciate for his thickness and overall volume. His dam, Labamba, was purchased from the Unger Land and Livestock dispersal sale and that is one female that has yet to do us wrong. She knows how to produce calves that pound down the scales and is sure to add those pounds to offspring come weaning. Labamba is easily one of our deepest, largest volume cows that you truly have to see to appreciate and she passes this on to every one of her calves. We have retained many of her females in our herd and they alike know how to produce! This bull is one that you need to take a serious look at if you want an incredible disposition, ample testicle and hair, combined with that volume and “tankiness” that everyone strives for.

CONDITIONS & GUARANTEE: All entries sell with a responsible breeder’s guarantee of satisfaction. In the unlikely event of any dispute whatever, regular TERMS & CONDITIONS recognized in accordance of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association Code of Ethics. ALL CATTLE ARE SOLD subject to tests as required for export under Regulations of Health of Animals Branch, Dept. of Agriculture for Canada. It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. TERMS OF PAYMENT: Cash or cheque payable to Clerk of the Sale on sale day. U.S. funds will be accepted at the current rate of exchange on sale day. INSURANCE: Ownership risk to purchaser commences when Auctioneer’s hammer falls. Full mortality insurance is available by an insurance representative present sale day. LIABILITY: Purchaser must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees made herunder. At no time will the consignors be liable for more than the original purchase price of the sale animal or equal compensation for that original purchase price. HOLDING & SHIPMENTS: Approximately one week is required for export transfers and other documents to be processed. Export animals will be held at the sale location at no charge and under excellent care. Joint export shipping arrangements to obtain minimal shipping cost will be made by the consignors if instructions to that effect are provided to Clerk of the Sale at time of settlement. TRUCKING: Truckers believed to be reliable will be available on request to transport purchases. OWNERS: Reserve the right to withhold from export shipment animals for whom buyer or buyers agent have not made arrangements for payments in full, or other satisfactory arrangements, prior to time of export departure. ALL PERSONS: Who attend the sale do so at their own risk and the owners and sale staff assume no liability, legal or otherwise for property loss or for any accidents that may occur. BULL GUARANTEE/WARRANTY: Consignors guarantee to sell you a bull that is structurally sound, a bull that has passed a semen test done by a licensed veterinarian. Should any bull fail to be a satisfactory breeder, unable to physically service a cow or heifer, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value. Should this not be possible, an adjustment will be made to reflect the value of the bull in question or a credit will be given towards the purchase of another bull. In short, we guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull. We, however, will not provide replacement or adjustment for physical injury or mismanagement. Bearing this in mind, we stress the importance of insurance on your bulls. Should you have a problem with your bull, call us. We will work with you to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. We have back up bulls set aside for our customers. DELIVERY/PICK UP OPTIONS A: Consignors will keep the bulls until April 1, 2017, at no additional charge. Anything after this date will be at a charge of $2.50/ day to the purchaser. Bulls may then be picked up or delivered for free within 200km at the consignor’s convenience. Anything beyond this will be at the cost to the purchaser. Consignors insist all purchases be insured while at consignors’ facilities. B: Purchasers wishing to pick up their bull on sale day or within a week following the sale will receive a $50.00 discount per individual purchased.
