Erica Courtenay-Mann CEO of Talkative Media

My other two businesses are actually borne from my 15+years in the financial services arena. I took my business writing skills to a new level to help created personal branding items and curriculum vitae(s) for employment seekers. Then recently, I jumped back into the Financial Services industry by offering financial education seminars whilst also selling life and health insurance.

Tell us about you. I'm actually a share-cropper's grand-daughter who was born and raised on Chicago's Southside. I'm affectionately known to the world as @EfabulousHB. I'm a mom. I blog. I have three dogs. Besides a totally awesome 9 to 5 gig, I run three businesses. I am always waffling on about lessons I learned from my painful but introspective divorce. The one thing you really need to know about me is that I'm a giant ball of kindness walking in fabulous 4" heels. That really sums me up figuratively and literally. What is your personal mantra or motto? "Always lead with kindness, you never know what someone is going through!" What inspired you to pursue a career in this field? I pursued accounting because my mother said I was extremely good with numbers until the point it was unnatural. She said that I need to learn how to count money. Being able to know the back end of accounting systems and understand the reports and analysis goals of front end users allowed me to soar as a Systems Accountant. As an entrepreneur, I had a different path. I am a selftaught social media guru and strategist. I started following tech whilst living in England. Then as I migrated back to my home country, I started to follow the trends more and more. Eventually when my daughter was born, I became besotted with the analysis and data mining associated with social media management and implementing strategies. This allowed me to enjoy being social in a whole new light. It has been my passion since day one.

What services do you provide for your clients? TALKATIVEMEDIA: Social Media Management, Social Media Content Creation, Graphic Design, Website ReDesign, Blog Implementation, Logo Creation, Bespoke Electronic Media design, Content Curation and Content Management. MOUVEMENTSAUTER: Creating or Editing Curriculum Vitae(s), Updating your LinkedIn Profile and Creating Bespoke Personal Branding materials for your selfpromotion. ECM FINANCIAL CONSULTING: Financial Education, Budget Creation, Debt Management, Creating an Emergency Fund, Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Wealth Building What's been the most rewarding part of your career? Helping various people with intriguing projects through all of my companies has been so rewarding. It's refreshing to interact with humanity from the service side. What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur? If you have an idea, write it down in your journal, jot it in your memo(s) on your phone. When that idea starts to gnaw at you, revisit it and then research why you are attracted to it. If you get excited at the idea of implementing your idea, plan to launch yourself or your project, that's the universe guiding you to do something that is good for your soul. Ask for help along the way; don't be ashamed to say I'm just starting out. There were will be mentors out there for you to tap into. Lastly, when a project is on its last leg and there is no more excitement for you, find a new idea and then start the process all over again! Website: TalkativeMedia.com

Johnique Lang CEO of EPICuisines Tell us about you. What is your personal mantra or motto? “Together we will eat well; together we will live well” What inspired you to pursue a career in this field? My inspiration came from looking at the health conditions of my parents, aunts, uncles and others within my community. It saddens me to know so many of us within the minority communities are literally killing ourselves with the choices we make on a day to day basis. I look around and see people that are physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially drained. So, I decided I would inspire a new type of change in the community; a change from within, internally. I want to teach people how to feel good in spite of their circumstances and when you eat good, you actually feel good! What services do you provide for your clients? EPICuisine (Encouraging People w/ Inspirational Cuisines) is a catering business that exists to encourage, show care and concern through catering and home cooked meals! What’s been the most rewarding part of your career? My most rewarding moment was when one of my clients who had been participating in my meal prep services messaged me about her mom. She started off using the services herself as a personal choice in collaboration with her workout plan. The next month she began to order two of every meal, so I asked her if I needed to give her additional options and she replied that the second was for her mom who had been dealing with high blood pressure. About a month in a half later, she inboxes me with a praise report and stating her mom had a good blood pressure reading. She went on to say, her mom hadn't had a good blood pressure reading in over 10 years! The following day, I took my mom to the doctor and we also got a good blood pressure reading. These two moments alone were a real eye opener for me, as it confirmed God’s instructions over my purpose. Company: EPICuisines Website Address: http://epicuisines.vpweb.com/

Shelley Broussard Realtor® for Tammy Bateman Properties

Tell us about you. I am a native Houstonian. I have two children (Junior in High School and 3rd grader). In my personal time I enjoy meeting with my bible study group, listening to live music, and spending time with my family. What is your personal mantra or motto? Anything is possible! What inspired you to pursue a career as a realtor? I started in the real estate industry at the young age of 19 years old. I’ve worked in various aspects of real estate beginning in an administrative position. As I learned more about the business, I became intrigued with what I could offer people. Real estate can be a very emotional and stressful process. Helping people have the American dream and experiencing the feeling of pride of owning their own home was something I knew I’d love to a part of! What services do you provide for your clients? Communication throughout the process. A Straight Forward Approach that exercises my integrity and willingness to make sure my client is informed and aware of the process including all possible outcomes in any given situation. Attentiveness to the needs and wants of my client. What’s been the most rewarding part of your career? Making my client’s dream home become a reality and/or selling their home at the best possible price. It’s that simple! I love to see the smile on their faces when the ultimate goal is met and met in the smoothest possible way with pure satisfaction. What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur? Don’t give up on your dreams. It seems cliché to say, “If you put your mind to it – you can do it”, but it is true! I truly believe that the Lord gives us the desires of our heart and will provide the tools necessary to accomplish those things we desire. So never allow fear of the unknown to dampen your spirit to the point that you never try. You only live once. Anything is possible! La Tasha Taylor Panelist| Relationships La Tasha enjoys the day to day demands of operating a magazine company. It has afforded her a wealth of business knowledge and many wonderful life changing experiences. People she once considered friends and mentors [in her head], she now had the chance to interview on a more intimate level. Transposing those talks from the bathroom mirror to actually interacting with celebrities, entrepreneurs, and socially conscious individuals. Her greatest interview to date was with the late Dr. Maya Angelou. She remembers the one question she asked the literary icon who gently sighed in relaxation and responded gladly to what was considered her own personal joy. To have the honor of speaking to such a beautiful spirit is a memory La Tasha says she will never forget. Dr. Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey are just a few of the wonderful people who have inspired La Tasha to appreciate being a part of a brand which provides positive content, reflective of one's personal journey. Everyone has a story to tell and La Tasha is proud that Beautifully Said Magazine offers a platform for people to share their truth.

L

a Tasha Taylor was told by her 12th grade teacher, in Oakland, California, that she should become a writer. It would take years thereafter to finally embrace those words. But when it happened, it all made sense. La Tasha has always been a creative individual with an imagination to match. She would constantly talk to herself in the bathroom mirror. Her father, often times, would knock on the door asking how long she planned to be in there. There was nobody off limits from her curious mindset. La Tasha would interview school age friends through an imaginary microphone. This was her childhood. One in which she would stare at her reflection and profess that someone would know her name. She was too young to assume she was speaking in vain. La Tasha was under the age of ten and had no clue as to what her statement meant, at least not until her purpose matched God's perfect timing, in her adulthood. Today, she operates as co-owner and publisher of Beautifully Said Magazine. A publication created in 2008 for creative artists, entrepreneurs, and everyday lifestyle living, which was recognized as Best Publication 2013 by the Examiner-Dallas, and it has blossomed into a once and a lifetime dream that she shares alongside her twin sister. La Tasha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from the University of Maryland University College. She spent many years working in the legal field – all the while writing occasionally on a personal level. Before the birth of Beautifully Said Magazine, she wrote for a local publication in Houston, Texas, and that experience posed as reminder of the words spoken by her high school teacher. La Tasha also became a member of Colored People Network, a multicultural artistic network of all races, nationalities, and faith whose talents bring color to the world. It was here that she first mustered the courage to share her poetry when she participated in a live reading in 2009.

La Tasha was awarded The Secret Garden-Women in Business 2013. She has participated in numerous panels like Love in Abundance where she mentored young girls and the Miss Representation- Zeta Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a discussion centered around women' s portrayal in the media. The proud mother of two sons strives to be a great example for her children. "I was an entrepreneur even before I knew what that meant." La Tasha remembers creating various businesses she held with her twin sister while growing up. There were cookie sales, lemonade stands, French Braiding classmates’ hair and etc. She also recalls countless, fun hours spent making everything under the sun. "All you had to do was give me a pair of scissors, glue, fabric, glitter, and it was on!" This is what I wish to instill in my children, IMAGINATION! And for them to know, "Anything is possible, and the gifts that God give us is not for us to keep but to service others." La Tasha shares the notion of leaving more than just clothes and high heel shoes for her kids to pack up when she's physically gone. She lives to create moments her children and their children will cherish and uphold. Passionate about the sisterhood of women supporting women, La Tasha, through her own mistakes, fears, successes, disappointments, failures, highs and lows- realizes who she is today is of benefit to others at any given time. "Everything I have gone through was for a reason." Thus, giving the statement, somebody will know my name , a deeper purpose and meaning.

La Trisha McIntosh Panelist | Relationships

L

a Trisha McIntosh draws out her goals much like she did growing up in Oakland, California, where she was recognized as Most Artistic in school. She would sketch classmates’ hairdos for prom for them to take to the salon to replicate the look. La Trisha knew early on that anything she did in life would have to center around her love for creative artistry. Today, she is co-owner and publisher of Beautifully Said Magazine, a publication created in 2008 for creative artists, entrepreneurs, and everyday lifestyle living, which was recognized as Best Publication 2013 by the Examiner-Dallas. She operates the business alongside her twin sister. It was also during this time that she created a jewelry and fashion line called Tula Couture with the company slogan, I DESIGN WITH YOU IN MIND! La Trisha studied and worked in the accounting field before the opportunity to own and operate a magazine came about. But she had previously had a taste of the journalism world when she moved to Houston years ago and wrote for a local publication. One of her first interviews was with a single mother going back to school at Texas Southern University. The experience prepared her for what was to come in the future. La Trisha enjoys operating in the daily tasks that a magazine company requires. Gained business knowledge and the opportunity to connect with celebrities, entrepreneurs and socially conscious individuals have proven to be very rewarding for this businesswoman. She fondly recalls her interview with Dr. Maya Angelou and regards it as more than a once in a lifetime opportunity. She was afforded to interview the American author and poet in both 2012 and 2013. Memories she will always cherish. La Trisha has compassion for others to succeed and understands firsthand about sacrifice. For many years she was a single mother who raised her now adult son, her pride and joy who will enter his second year of college in the Fall. He, too, was born with a gift of drawing that La Trisha admits surpasses her own talents. In 2011, she married the man God designed for her to spend the rest of her life with. From this union, she gained two bonus children that she loves and adores. A published author with book Simply Speaking: Words for the Journey - Wisdom for the Way (2011), La Trisha composed a collection of original quotes covering many topics from family, faith, and relationships. She also heads a publishing company, Humble Beginnings with her husband, also a published author. Other personal achievements include The Secret Garden -Women in Business Award in 2013. She has also participated in numerous panels like Love in Abundance where she mentored young girls and the Miss Representation Zeta Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a discussion centered around women's portrayal in the media. And she is also a member of Colored People Network, a multicultural artistic network of all races, nationalities and faith whose talents bring color to the world. Both she and her sister were interviewed by founder Tania Maria in 2013, to celebrate the success of Beautifully Said Magazine La Trisha expects everyday to be an opportunity to learn something new. She always approaches life as a student and welcomes the chance to share her experiences with those she comes into contact with. With such rewarding endeavors surrounding her daily, the inspiration to create is always within reach, which is something she doesn't take for granted and is most appreciative of now and going forward. Morning Motivation Move In Sync With God’s Timing

Our morning thoughts set the tone for our entire day. These thoughts intermingle subconsciously, influencing conversations and actions-whether good or bad. We are encouraged in Philippians 4:8 to think thoughts that are true, honest, pure and lovely. Our minds can only be open to these thoughts if we apply the Word of God to our thought life. Depending on the season we walk, it can sometimes be challenging to find the good and positive. And yet, when we take a moment to invite morning motivation into our lives, those challenges become an easier path to walk. Allow the wisdom of this devotional to remind you of your value in Christ and thus provide a pure foundation to face daily challenges with strength and love.
