Intermediate Spanish II 3 0 3 This course provides a continuation of SPA 211. Emphasis is placed on the continuing study of authentic and representative literary and cultural texts. Upon completion, students should be able to communicate spontaneously and accurately with increasing complexity and sophistication. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts. Prerequisites:

Spanish Conversation 3 0 3 This course provides an opportunity for intensive communication in spoken Spanish. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary acquisition and interactive communication through the discussion of media materials and authentic texts. Upon completion, students should be able to discuss selected topics, express ideas and opinions clearly, and engage in formal and informal conversations. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement pre-major and/or elective course requirement. Prerequisites:

Spanish Interpreter SPI 113
Intro. to Spanish Inter. 3 0 3 This course introduces the field of interpreting, interpretation models, cognitive processes associated with interpretation, professional ethical standards, employment opportunities, and working conditions. Topics include specialized jargon, code of ethics, interpreter assessments/ qualifications, and protocol associated with various settings. Upon completion, students should be able to explain the rationale for placement of interpreters and apply ethical standards to a variety of working situations.
