ELC 131A

Circuit Analysis I Lab 0 0 1 This course provides laboratory assignments as applied to fundamental principles of DC/AC electricity. Emphasis is placed on measurements and evaluation of electrical components, devices and circuits. Upon completion, the students will gain hands-on experience by measuring voltage, current, and opposition to current flow utilizing various meters and test equipment.

ELC 132

Electrical Drawings 1 3 2 This course introduces the technical documentation that is typically found or used in the industrial environment. Topics include interpretation of service manuals, freehand sketching of lines, orthographic views and dimensions, and blueprint reading. Upon completion, students should be able to interpret technical documents and blueprints and use basic drafting skills to prepare usable field drawings.

ELC 135

Electrical Machines I 2 2 3 This course covers magnetic circuits, transformers, DC/AC machines, and the three-phase circuit fundamentals including power factor. Topics include magnetic terms and calculations, transformer calculations based on primary or secondary equivalent circuits, and regulation and efficiency calculations. Upon completion, students should be able to perform regulation and efficiency calculations for DC/AC machine circuits.

Electrical Machines II 3 3 4 This course covers DC/AC machine fundamentals including applications and control. Topics include control devices, induction single and polyphase AC motors, DC motors, stepper, and special purpose motors. Upon completion, students should be able to perform regulation and efficiency calculations and apply motor theory to practical control applications.

Selected Topics in Electrical 0 6 2 This course provides an opportunity to explore areas of current interest in specific program or discipline areas. Emphasis is placed on subject matter appropriate to the program or discipline. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the specific areas of study.
