MINI: Do you think he has your sense of hu-
mor?
BW: Too early to tell.
Don’t think he’s as dark and demented as i am yet— at least I hope not— but he is definitely mischievous and a bit of a prankster. He likes to push the limit. He laughs a ton which is really great. MINI: What surprised you most about parent-
ing? What does no one warn you about?
MINI: Just for future reference, what are your
coolest suggestions for kids names? We know you have some great ones up your sleeve.
BW: My mom was asking me about potential
names for when we eventually have a second kid and she couldn’t believe we didn’t have any. Spencer was actually the name of my parents’ old dog, so maybe we’ll just borrow another family pet’s name... like Gizmo. ■
BW: I wish people had been more honest
about the challenges of breastfeeding and that it really is a two-man operation with the father helping the mother. Also, no one warns you how often the theme song to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse will get stuck in your head. On the positive side, no one can ever prepare you for how much you truly fall head over heels for this little being. MINI: How is your son’s upbringing different
from your own?
BW: For starters, his parents are generally
cooler people. We have traveled a lot more with him than I ever did in my first two years. MINI: If you could give your son one piece of
advice, what would it be?
BW: Don’t tell people i’m your father! Be who
you are and always speak your mind. Most of the time, your mother and I are making up this parenting stuff on the fly, so don’t take everything we say and do so literally. We will make mistakes.
