CAREERS NEWSLETTER

2017-‐18

ISSUE 12 – Thursday 29 March 2018 This impromptu newsletter respectfully canvasses parents for their support with a number of Bablake Careers Department initiatives. Articles promised for Issue 12 w ill now appear in our first edition of the Summer Term.

HELP! WE NEED SOMEBODY… NOT JUST ANYBODY!

Without decrying the immense value of marketing materials we receive and articles we devour in the national media or on social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter, without any doubt, most of the best information gleaned by our Careers department derives from excellent support offered by both Bablake parents and our former pupils. We would very much appreciate help in the following areas: • Work experience or work shadowing placements for our Sixth Form students – esp. for Monday 2 – Thursday 6 July 2018. • Interviewers for our Lower Sixth Mock Interview Morning – Saturday 30 June 2018. • Guest blogs about your daily travails or aspects related to the world of work. • Offers and contacts to lead a Thursday lunchtime Careers Forum for our students. • Attendance at our biennial Careers Convention – Thursday 23rd January 2020. • ‘What I wish I had known at 13, 16 and or 18!’ Any snapshot wisdom here would be gratefully received. • Notice of Post 18 employment opportunities, esp. apprenticeships.

To reply electronically, please email mgw@bablake.coventry.sch.uk or complete the form that will be posted on www.2morrow-‐2day.com.

We are also beginning to search for mentors for our Sixth Form students and would be interested in your thoughts about this. We have recently approached our former pupils and already received some very generous offers of Skype/ email support in this exciting area.

Please be reassured that your kind offers and any necessary data submitted will only be used in relation to specific guidance for Bablake pupils. Should you wish it to be deleted at any point or not stored in a spreadsheet, please alert us.
