Chet Lahti & Dale Menghe returned to share the winners circle with John Marquis & Teri Curtis at Groggy’s 12 & Under Scotch Doubles event on June 8th. John & Teri took the hot-seat with a close 6-4 win over Chet & Dale, sending Chet & Dale to the one loss side to face Joe Roe & Quinn Hale. Joe & Quinn had lost their first match of the event, but had already won four in a row on the left side of the board.
The semi-final match was a 6-4 race and Chet & Dale quickly ran out to a 4-1 lead before Joe & Quinn won two in a row to get to the hill at 4-3. One rack later, both teams were on the hill with Chet & Dale breaking for the set. It looked like things would be over quick in the last game when Dale made the 9-ball on the break, but the tournament rules were that 9-balls don’t count in the bottom two pockets on the break - so the 9-ball was spotted and Chet & Dale would shoot from there. Unfortunately for Joe & Quinn, the spotted 9-ball was only a temporary reprieve as Chet & Dale ran the rack for the 6-3 win. The finals got underway with a rematch between Chet & Dale and John & Teri. After Chet & Dale scored a 6-4 win in the first set of the true double elimination finals, the teams decided to split first and second place.
