Product Conclave 2012 November 7 - 8 Bangalore | India

NPC 2012

2004 - 2012 Celebrating 9 years of India's Product Ecosystem NASSCOM Product Conclave (NPC) 2012 is an exclusive forum for product entrepreneurs looking to get actionable takeaways and learn from experts, peers and practitioners on their Go-to-market strategy.

5 things that make this

Conclave program special Highly curated, hands-on sessions with peers and practitioner to help you get actionable takeaways to grow your business Immersive interactions with experts in Go-to-market, sales, marketing, design and product management workshop Exclusive breakout sessions on fund raising, venture capital, pitching, and exit strategies Networking opportunities with the best product entrepreneurs from the world over to help take your business to the next level Special tracks on mobile, startup hiring, market sizing, and customer development

Welcome note Eighty four volunteers have put this Product Conclave together. We want you to take away actionable insights that you can put to work on Monday in your product business. We want you to make connections with fellow product entrepreneurs and experts so that you can build your own support system. We want you to go back inspired and reinvigorated by the many powerful stories that you’ll hear over the two days here. Product entrepreneurs are different from other entrepreneurs. They are not rent-seekers, and they are not into labor arbitrage. They are into making the lives of the consumers and business that use their products better. Better in a substantial way. This requires disruptive thinking. By challenging status-quo,product entrepreneurs upend whole industries. We can see this playing out today in a range of sectors including corporate IT. We will dive into Healthcare and Education at the Conclave. As product entrepreneurs, we have the power to re-imagine solutions to intractable problems. By impacting Education and Healthcare, we can materially improve hundreds of millions of lives. In time, it will be the software Product industry that will lift India out of poverty. The bespoke application development model that Indian IT is famous for can fix a few large institutions and businesses. But it is products, often small products, which can change how millions of small businesses and individuals can become more productive and competitive. Our nascent software product industry is growing fast. Every year the product ecosystem is becoming stronger. You can feel it at this Conclave. To sustain this growth, there are many ecosystem gaps that need to be addressed. Some of these are regulatory in nature (like support for automated recurring billing for SaaS), others are about market access to SMBs, yet others are about early stage capital and capability-building. Many of us believe that these gaps can only be addressed by leveraging a self-help collaborative model. This Product Conclave shows you the power of that model. We hope you have a great time at the Conlave!

Note from the curators NPC 2012 promises to motivate, inspire and educate. An all-star cast of product entrepreneurs, including Naveen Tewari (InMobi), Deep Nishar(Linkedin), Naren Gupta (Nexus) and Chamath Palihappitiya (Social Capital partnership) will share proven strategies for product success. Over 60+ hours of goal oriented track sessions in the areas of product management, marketing, sales, business development and design will help you learn from people who have previously built, are currently building or are looking to build global product organizations. With a 789% growth in product startups and a 2173% increase in funded product ventures in the last 3 years, the Indian technology product economy is on an unprecedented growth trajectory. The biggest challenges facing product entrepreneurs are attracting users, retaining profitable accounts, raising venture capital and engaging customers to achieve rapid non-linear revenue growth. NPC track sessions cater to a range of startups – from those looking for their first customer to those who have some traction but wanting to know how to scale. The primary focus this year is on Marketing, User Interface Design, Mobile, and Product Management. We hope this year’s conclave accelerates your startup journey. All the best!

Rajat Agarwalla, RJ Softwares | Shruti Chella, Groupon Ashish Kashyap, CEO Ibibo | Anisha Singh, mydala.com Session Manager: Sumeet Anand

These days, everyone seems to be using this word - ‘Pivoting’. It’s like a buzzword for a startup. Eric Ries introduced this word back in 2009. It is used to describe smart startups that change direction quickly, but stay grounded in what they’ve learned. You’re pivoting in life all the time. Your decisions and following actions are based on your leanings. This feedback loop is critical to understand if you want to pivot successfully. In this panel discussion, we will probe the concept of pivoting. We’ll discuss what, why, and how to pivot. We’ll take up real examples of businesses and we’ll share insights of how to go about it.
