That conch is more than the shell of a sea snail; it is a link in a chain of memories going back to a honeymoon in Barbados generations ago. That book on the shelf is a story shared about a mother, a daughter and a long-gone grandmother. This is what we call stuff, a humble word, but pregnant with meaning and memory.
