Basics to help a little (nitnoi) ..... you should 1st read the introduction You will see many variations of the spelling (Phonetic), don't get flustered.. it's not Thai style...stay cool, as the Thai's say, have a cool heart "jai yen yes" (jai=heart yen=cold as opposed to impatient) "Jai ron" (hot=heart Jai=ron) remember .... Thai Language is "subject, adjective"... we say cold heart, they say heart cold thus it's "Jai Yen".. ..so easy!!

The following material is donated by Aussie and Thai students Topics Action Body Colours Family Feeling Food 2009: Shopping 2009: Greetings Directions 2010-12 Golfing

Transliteration

Thai word "Mai" has many meanings (tones), the most significant is ... when said before a word it reverses meaning and when said after the word it creates a "?" ie., seeking an answer!

example applying the word "Mai" want=ao Ao Mai=do you want Mai ao=I not want Sabai=well Sabaidee mai=are you well? Mai sabai=I not well hot=ron Ron mai=are you hot? Main ron=I not hot

Don't forget it's very polite to end sentences with .. ... males ...say "Krup" and females say "Kaa"

... you can use it on most of the thai words below.... so you have just doubled your knowledge
