Introduction Inside our school building, next to the river Cosa, there is a small area (approximately 30 square meters) severely degraded and neglected. Our aim is to turn this corner in a vegetable garden. Vegetable garden as a place of good but also of beauty, or the space where ornamental plants live in a proper intercropping with vegetables, also organized according to an aesthetic taste. Aim - To create an educational vegetable garden - To recover the horticultural tradition because it can become a vocation for the future. Subjects involved - Science - Technology - History - Art - English


Learning Activities - To study the local horticultural plants - To design the school garden - To prepare the ground for planting the garden - To sow / plant the various crops - To follow the growth of plants - To taste the product obtained, fresh or cooked according to local recipes - To organize a vegetable garden festival - To document the experience to be transmitted to the classes of the following years Means - An open area in the school building - Tools for the cultivation of the ground - Seeds and seedlings to be planted Times - Autumn: soil preparation, study of the cycle of plants; - Winter: a study of local horticultural plants; to design the school garden; - Spring: to sow and / plant various crops; to follow and treat the growth of seedlings; to taste the products, vegetable garden festival.
