American (8-5, 1-1) dropped its first Patriot League contest of the season, being edged, 63-60, by Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon in Bender Arena. Arron Zimmerman led the Eagles with a career-high 18 points, going 8-of-14 from the floor, and Shaquilla Curtis posted a career-high eight rebounds. Jen Dumiak notched five assists to pace the American offense.

Alexis Dobbs leads the Eagles with 14.3 ppg on the year, good for sixth in the Patriot League, and is tied for first in the conference with a 44.4 three-point field goal percentage. She also leads the Patriot League with 5.6 apg. Sarah Kiely is averaging a team-best 5.9 rpg and Curtis is third in the conference with 2.1 spg.

The Greyhounds held a 10-point advantage at the half but couldn’t hold off an Army comeback as it fell in overtime, 66-62. Nai Brown and Lisa Mirarchi set career-highs in the game, with Brown posting 24 points and Mirarchi adding 17. Brown and Nneka Offodile pulled down six rebounds apiece while Mirarchi dished out a team-high four assists.

2013-14 AU Women’s Basketball - American finished the non-conference season with a 7-4 mark, opening the year with its first 3-0 start since 2008-09, when it earned a WNIT berth. - American opened the Patriot League season with its first 30 point victory since February 26, 2011, defeating Bucknell, 7740. The Eagles tallied over 20 assists for the second time this season, dishing out 21 in the win, and shot a season-high 52.5 percent from the field. - The Eagles pulled down 51 rebounds in its win at Hampton, marking the first time an American squad has registered 50+ boards since March 9, 2008 against Bucknell. - American commited four turnovers in its 77-54 win over Dartmouth, its lowest total in the last 13 seasons. The Eagles matched the mark in its 63-60 loss to Holy Cross. - The Eagles committed just one turnover in the second half of its win over UMass and went perfect from the line for the first time since January 27, 2010 at Navy. - Had two players tally double-digit rebounds (Sarah Kiely - 12, Jen Dumiak - 10) in its home opener, marking the first time two players pulled down double-figure boards since Feb. 25, 2012 when Lisa Strack ’11 and Dumiak posted 13 and 10, respectively. Senior Alexis Dobbs - Named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate - Became the 16th player in program history to reach 1,000 points after posting a careerhigh 25 points against Mount St. Mary’s. - Tallied her first career double-double (10 pts, 10 ast), becoming the first player to dish out double-figure assists since February 2006, at Coppin State (12/21). - Ranks second all-time at AU in career made three’s (186), fourth in three-point percentage (.371), fourth in assists (354), fifth in games started (99), seventh in free throw percentage (.787) and 15th in scoring (1,046).

Coll played basketball abroad in Portugal, Germany, Holland and Wales after playing at the collegiate level for UMBC. She was a four-year member of the Retrievers’ squad and served on the NCAA StudentAthlete Advisory Committee for two seasons. Coll graduated from UMBC in 2003 with a degree in issues and athletic administration and received her Master’s in sociology from St. John’s in 2007.

Assistant Coach • 1st Season • Marist ‘08 Nikki Flores begins her first season on Coach Gebbia’s coaching staff after spending the previous season at Colgate. Flores focused on recruiting and also assisted in preseason and individual workouts and breaking down game film. She helped lead the Raiders to one of its biggest RPI wins in program history and two wins over the top seed in the 2013 Patriot League tournament to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2007. Flores also served as the first assistant and recruiting coordinator at Division II Holy Family University from 2009 to 2012, helping the team to three CACC Regular

Season Championships from 2010 to 2012 and three berths to the NCAA Tournament. Flores was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at Marist, earning All-MAAC Second Team honors in her senior season and being honored on the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2005. She helped lead the Foxes to four MAAC Regular Season titles, three MAAC Tournament Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance during her junior year. Flores graduated in 2008 with a degree in history and adolescent education.

Assistant Coach • 1st Season • Marist ‘12 A former Marist College standout, Emily Stallings most recently served as a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg. Stallings aided in the development of the post players, in addition to helping with practice planning and recruiting. She also served as a head and assistant coach of the Newburgh Liberty AAU team.

Graduate Assistant • 1st Season • Rowan ‘13 Allie Bassetti begins her first season as a graduate assistant coach at American University. Bassetti most recently served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. where she worked on practice planning, breaking down game film and scouting reports. She was the head coach of the Philadelphia Belles Nike Travel Team from 2008 to 2012 and practice coordinator for the Philadelphia Belles AAU team from 2008-2011. During that time, Bassetti also acted as an assistant coach at Ss. John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School, leading the team to a record of 13-11 in

2010-11 and 20-9 in her final season. She has been a clinician and counselor for Blue Star Basketball since 2008, conducting skill sessions and player evaluations for seventh to ninth grade students. Bassetti has also worked with U.S. Junior National Team Tournaments as an assistant events coordinator and site director from 2008 to 2013. A native of Turnersville, N.J., Bassetti played point guard at Rowan from 2008-2010, leading the team to consecutive NJAC Semifinal playoff appearances in 2009 and 2010. She graduated from Rowan with a degree in psychology in 2013.
