Nothing Replaces The LIVE Experience - This is our mantra this year. It is time to get back to celebrating the arts in person, with shared experiences and inspiration. So often, I leave the theater awe-struck at what I’ve just experienced; that’s what we aim for. This season will not disappoint.

Dance is such a distinct art form. Luminous, arduous, meaningful and inspiring. “I’m overwhelmed; this was not what I expected.” This is the reaction I most often hear from audiences, something our longtime subscribers have always known. Our 40+ years of experience affords TITAS the unique perspective of looking back and appreciating the amazing impact that high-quality, curatorial arts presentation has on a community, on a city.

TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND continues to present the most innovative, the most remarkable artists touring the world today. It’s time for all of us to return to the extraordinary shared performance experience, to leave our devices off and experience art with all our senses. Nothing Replaces The LIVE Experience!!!

The 2023:24 season won’t disappoint. International, creative and breathtaking imagery makes this an exceptional set of the world’s most interesting movement artists. We proudly present a season of ten extraordinary companies from the United States, Japan, Canada, Israel and France. Four of these companies are making their Texas/Dallas debuts with TITAS.

Back by Popular Demand, we start our season walking through the Looking Glass. MOMIX returns to Dallas with their fantastical ALICE MOMIX’s ALICE made its U.S. debut in the fall of 2020. It was such a spectacular and special production, TITAS is thrilled to bring back this extraordinary work. Magical, inventive and highly imaginative, nothing that

SANKAI JUKU KOSA

Tokyo’s Sankai Juku is known worldwide for its elegance, precision, and emotional depth. Founder Ushio Amagatsu is one of the premiere choreographers in the world today. These rare works are to be experienced more than watched.

With KŌSA , Amagatsu has built this new evening-length work in an

effort to present the most essential elements of his vision. Sankai Juku is simply very, very special. It is a stunning stirring experience, rich with Japanese culture, artistic excellence and the power of creativity. After decades of absence from Dallas, we welcome this stunning company back to Texas.

LES 7 DOIGTS PASSAGERS

Based in Montreal, Canada, The 7 Fingers is an arts collective of writers, directors, choreographers, producers, technical directors, multimedia experts merging acrobatics and theatre, dance and multimedia, music and storytelling. PASSAGERS is a fascinating work of dance and circus exploring life and the happenings along

this track of sorts, twisting and turning through valleys and plains. Departure vs. transit vs. arrival. Chance vs. choice vs. destiny. Private vs. public. Confinement vs. border-crossing. Bright headlights vs. tunnel-darkness. Past vs. future. This is awe-inspiring work of real creativity, truly without boundaries.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET

Led by dance icons Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, Complexions Contemporary Ballet has awakened audiences to a new, exciting genre with their singular approach of reinventing dance and contemporary ballet. Always a TITAS Favorite, we are thrilled to have Complexions back in the fold.

Exciting, passionate and filled with technical prowess and brilliant artistry, Complexions’ high-octane movement astonishes audiences by pairing its fierce evocative style with musical ranges from David Bowie to Johann Bach.

Companies like Complexions are game-changing: they’re forging a path for what ballet can be instead of what it historically has been.

Compagnie Hervé Koubi debuted in Dallas a few years ago with TITAS and struck the audience speechless, that is until the standing ovation. A French, now “mostly” male, dance company now has dancers from across Europe, Taiwan, Brazil, USA and North Africa. Absolutely unique and utterly original, this fearless, powerful and ‘masculine beyond belief’ dance company returns to Dallas with their new work SOL INVICTUS . The music score includes a composition by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson, to be mixed with music excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson.

The return of Hervé Koubi is most definitely highly anticipated and certainly a TITAS Favorite.

RENNIE HARRIS PUREMOVEMENT ROME AND JEWELS

Rennie Harris PuremovementAmerican Street Dance Theater

Formed in 1992 by Dr. Rennie Harris, has emerged as an international Hip-hop and Street dance ambassador. Known for creating work that utilizes hip-hop movement, as well as finding its voice in theater, Rennie’s pioneers a new genre, while bringing hip-hop culture to the proscenium

stage. Hailed as an Elizabethan masterpiece, Rome & Jewels is based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, reimagined in the streets of Philadelphia. Rome & Jewels won 3 Bessie Awards, a Shakespeare Theater Award, and a nomination for United Kingdom’s prestigious Lawrence Olivier award, to name just a few. A masterwork of Street Dance Theater.

VERTIGO MAKOM ISRAEL

Vertigo is Israeli Art at its best. Established in Jerusalem over 31 years ago by Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha’al, Vertigo Dance Company presents outstanding contemporary dance promoting artistic creation with a strong sense of social, environmental, and community awareness, Vertigo has become synonymous with a rare kind of ecological awareness. Their choreographic works, a blend of modern dance and classical ballet continues to captivate audiences around the globe.

Making their Dallas Debut, their new work Makom means “place” in Hebrew. By turning movement into inspiration Makom represents our perpetual search for a return to the place that brings us closer to ourselves.
