Certificates of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) in School Counseling Our Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) options provide specialized knowledge and skills in specific areas of School Counseling. It is offered to individuals who hold a master’s degree in School Counseling or a closely related counseling field.
Students enrolled in some of these programs have an opportunity to develop an area of specialization that is related to their current work or future career goals. Students are typically enrolled in this program on a part-time basis and have up to 7 years to complete their course of study.
A customized course of study consisting of 21-30 graduate credits is developed in consultation with the graduate program director.

C.A.G.S. in School Counseling
Graduates of Assumption’s School Counseling Program who hold the Guidance Counselor license.
• Enroll in a 450 hour clinical practicum for School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor
Initial Licensure as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor
• Take Principles and Practices of Social Work/Adjustment Counseling & Juvenile Court and Education for Counselors. • Take up to 7 years to finish your C.A.G.S. with 4 more elective courses.
C.A.G.S. in School Counseling Initial licensure as a School Guidance Counselor OR Initial Licensure in School Social Work/Adjustment Counseling
C.A.G.S. in School Counseling Initial licensure as a School Guidance Counselor AND School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor
C.A.G.S. in School Counseling Leads to Professional Licensure
