Asiatic was founded in 1960 by Soli Kelaty and for over 50 years has been a trusted name in the flooring industry. Today Asiatic is still owned and run by the Kelaty family and is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers, importers and distributors of a diverse range of rugs for all lifestyles and budgets. We are proud to remain a family owned business with a clear mission of becoming the go-to company for fashion forward rugs. We have grown organically over the years by consistently investing in people, products and infrastructure.
We are widely acknowledged to be rug experts, experienced, focused, efficient and reliable in all aspects of managing the supply chain, and our team shares a wealth of experience and expertise in the industry. Our product managers and designers ensure that we design and develop great value rugs across the widest range of styles, price points and categories. Our expertise, from creative concept, through to product management including quality, ethical and technical assurance provides an unmatched level of service for our customers. We also can provide a full FOB option through our offices in China and India for customers looking to buy in larger volumes and who want the confidence of dealing with an established European business.
From our head office in North London, and operating from two large warehouses we have over 10,000m2 of space ensuring that we have the most extensive in-stock inventory. Our respected and experienced sales team are dedicated to optimizing the customer experience and providing the tools for mutual sales success. Our European operations are supported by our sourcing offices in China and India that manage the entire pre- and post-production processes to ensure we supply products of the right quality at the right time.

Some of our ranges are available in custom sizes. There is a minimum order value equivalent to 3m 2 on all custom size rugs. There is a premium that is listed below for such orders. Please note that the finished size may vary from the size ordered by a small percentage, and delivery takes between three and four months. This is a ever-popular service - we supply hundreds of custom sizes every year.

RUG CARE/ UNDERLAY Universal Underlay Protect your investment, your home and yourself. We recommend the use of our Universal Rug Underlay. It provides a durable, long lasting foundation to help prolong the life of your rug.
Universal Underlay features & benefits: • can be used on carpeted and smooth floors • will extend the life of your rug by reducing wear and tear by reducing lateral movement • reduces the potential for trips and slips by holding the rug in place and minimising slippage • adds extra comfort by providing additional cushioning • helps to protect the floor surface beneath • may be washed at 40°C for hygiene • can easily be cut to size with scissors

Care & maintainence Your new rug
A new rug is one of the easiest ways to freshen the look, colour and style of your home. To make it last it must be properly taken care of, the following tips and information will help prolong the life of your rug. Odours Odours are caused by dyes, latex and by shipping for long distances in a sealed bag. These odours will dissipate within a few days once the rug is removed from its wrapping. Shedding All wool rugs will shed fibre. This will subside over time depending on traffic, wear and maintenance. We would expect the shedding to be minimised after 20-25 vacuums. Sprouting Loose fibres or sprouts are a normal part of the wearing in process with any hand made rug. These rising fibres should be snipped off with a small pair of scissors. Do not pull these yarns as this can cause a deterioration of the backing. Fading and Wear If exposed to direct sunlight there is a good chance that your rug will fade over time. To even out the effects of the sun and to balance wear we recommend that your rug is turned every couple of months.
Maintenance
Vacuuming Your rug will last longer and look better if it is vacuumed regularly. This will help prevent dirt on the surface of the rug filtering down into the pile where it can accumulate and cause increased wear.
For routine cleaning we recommend the use of a suction only type vacuum cleaner. Do not use a rotating brush cleaner as this can damage the rug pile surface. If the rug has overlocked edges refrain from running the cleaner over the edge as this will loosen fibres and cause them to unravel. Spills For spills the basic rule is to aim to remove as much moisture as you can as quickly as possible. Blot up excess spills with a clean white cloth or paper towel, working from the outer edge in. Never rub a spill as this can spread the stain and damage the pile. Should stains prove stubborn and difficult to remove we recommend the use of a professional cleaning company (such as Servicemaster who have national offices across the UK). To avoid the possibility of colour transfer between your rug and the floor surface beneath we strongly advise the use of underlay. This will have the added benefit of reducing the potential for trip hazards by minimising slippage. Viscose, jute and sisal fibres are particularly susceptible to staining. Extra care should be taken to avoid spillages of any kind on rugs containing these elements. Polypropylene pile rugs are hard wearing and have excellent stain resistant properties.
