Strata Exhibition at The Leatherhead Theatre Monday 1st – Wednesday 24th February 2010 (free entry)

The members of the Strata Art Group first met 12 years ago on the day they enrolled on a Fine Art course at Reigate School of Art and Design. The course curriculum was wide and varied, taking in such disciplines as sculpture, printmaking, photography, textile design and metalwork as well as painting and life drawing. It opened new horizons for this group of mature students excited by their first opportunity to study fine art in its many forms.
Sharing rooms together on College trips to Paris and Moscow and exploring the lesser-known but innovative art galleries in Lakeland in Greys, Lesley Jones London, they became firm friends. On completing their Foundation Course, some of the group stayed on at Reigate School of Art for further study while others progressed to take BA and MA degrees in Surrey and London. Subsequently the friends formed themselves into Strata and began exhibiting a variety of work, developing their different interests and techniques. Still based in Surrey, Strata have exhibited frequently in London, the Home Counties and further afield.
