All Saints Church News Dear Friends, I feel very privileged that Trish has asked me to write this first letter of the New Year 2013. I have never made New Year Resolutions because I know that I would not keep them. I have little will power! I do find though that I look forward to the New Year but I also look back on the old one and try and think of the blessings received during that year and the good things that have happened. Sometimes that is not easy. As some of you may know, I was very ill last year but felt surrounded and uplifted by the love, concern and prayers of my family and friends. It is good to feel so enfolded in love. My illness also taught me not to take things for granted! You never know what is going to happen to you. I will try now not to put off for tomorrow what can be done today and to appreciate the good things in my life as we go through the year and as they happen. The churches year begins in Advent. It begins by looking forward to the birth of a baby. That is always a great thing to anticipate. A new life is a little like a new year, no one knows what will happen in the child’s life and how that life will be. We do know what happened in the baby Jesus’ life, but the lives of our children and grandchildren never cease to surprise us! As we move into 2013, let us look for the good things in our lives, even when they are not obvious. We will have challenges to face in our lives. In the Polden Wheel Benefice we have some challenges to face as well. Let us hope and pray that we can face all the challenges this New Year presents with courage trying to see some good in all things. With best wishes for a Happy, Peaceful, Blessed and Positive 2013. Ann Cattermole Anglican Reader in The Polden Wheel Benefice.
