Ethnic Politics in America LEC 48-54 This course is intended as a required core course for the Ethnics Studies major. It will examine the role of ethnic minorities in the political process and their relationship to and role in government. The course will include a discussion of the ethnic empowerment, major ethnic based political and community organizations, the philosophies of major ethnic group leaders, and current political issues and trends as they impact ethnic groups and their future. The ethnic groups to be reviewed will include Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans. Their experience will be compared and contrasted to that of European immigrant ethnic groups.
